| Community Tasting Notes (average 87.1 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 30 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by kuhawk88 on 10/31/2015 & rated 82 points: Extremely light and bland on the palate - almost seemed "watered-down". It just lacked the extraction of flavors from the grapes that I am seeking in a good Zinfandel. I know it is 1/3 of the price of Zins from Napa/Sonoma - but for me I would rather spend the additional $'s to enjoy a fuller mouth-feel and more depth of flavors. I won't be purchasing this wine again... (1112 views) | | Tasted by Shoebox on 8/3/2015 & rated 88 points: Violet but not opaque. Very typical Zin nose and palate. Not complex but sweet clean fruit; raspberries and liquorice. Not overwhelming - quite light. Some tannins but smooth. Should last another 5 years. Very pleasant; easy drinking. Good for a bbq/chili con carne. (1197 views) | | Tasted by dischome on 3/22/2015 & rated 84 points: 3.5 / 10 Not complex, a little bitter at beginning and dead at end. OK experience but not a reorder. $25 (1393 views) | | Tasted by RBurgundy99 on 2/22/2015 & rated 86 points: Have tasted a number of PC wines at higher price points, and wasn't expecting much from this one as a result. It over delivered - good fruit to balance out the typical Paso heat. Very good value - will join it's neighbour to the far north (seghesio) as a very drinkable value pick. (1346 views) | | Tasted by Rencinas on 12/8/2014 & rated 72 points: Not a pleasant tasting wine even after allowed to breathe (24hrs) (1655 views) | | Tasted by cuffthis on 11/4/2014 & rated 88 points: Medium violet in color, this wine shows a spicy, earthy, ripe blackberry, cranberry and smoke notes on the nose. The mouth feel is medium bodied with fine purity and red currant elements. The finish was medium with soft tannins and very juicy fruit.
Purchased for $9.50US, this is an excellent qpr. The abundant fruit keeps the 14.5% abv in check. Highly recommended for parties, as it will keep both winos and non-winos happy. (812 views) | | Tasted by noodleNT on 9/21/2014 & rated 89 points: Great balance of oak and fruit. Going to need to get a case! (867 views) | | Tasted by eldiabloazul on 9/19/2014 & rated 88 points: Fruit bomber...but not obnoxious...would buy again...good value (629 views) | | Tasted by linkswinelover6549 on 8/29/2014 & rated 87 points: Nice zin, good fruit, a bit woody tasting (637 views) | | Tasted by linkswinelover6549 on 7/24/2014 & rated 86 points: Nice fruit, a bit woody taste, good BBQ wine (587 views) | | Tasted by eldiabloazul on 7/21/2014 & rated 87 points: Fun. Nice zip. Will buy again (497 views) | | Tasted by Martnmac on 4/14/2014 & rated 89 points: Really solid. Great value modern Zin. Rich colour. Strawberries and wood. Very nice surprise. Double yum and a half!! (616 views) | | Tasted by alexc on 3/11/2014 & rated 88 points: A very approachable and enjoyable example of modern Zin (634 views) | | Tasted by kjbmaverick on 2/18/2014 & rated 90 points: Smooth and nice blend of fruit on the nose and pallet.
(634 views) | | Tasted by sdwineguru on 8/30/2013 & rated 87 points: Mid-dark garnet; cherry, wood nose; mid-body; good acids, tannin structure; a little short on the finish. Fine value. w/burgers (870 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |

The winery has been family owned and operated since 1988 by the Beckett family. Located on California’s Central Coast, there are two tasting rooms open to sample our award winning wines. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
