Tasted by Hansvo on 4/29/2022 & rated 91 points: This held up remarkably well; definitely not deteriorating yet. Immediately identifiable as a California chardonnay, but restrained on the butter and oak. Very pleasant! (767 views)

Tasted by travelme on 1/25/2016 & rated 90 points: I loved the nose on this with notes of honey, vanilla, and just a hint of burnt oak. Smelled like a nice mix of flowers when it warmed to room temperature. Flavors of green apple, pears, and peels of orange on the palate. Nice complex finish that was pleasant and provided great QPR. My only bottle bought at auction and it was magnificent. I was concerned given this was two years past the suggested drinking window but this was excellent. Highly recommended and I would look at future vintages to purchase if the price was reasonable. (2102 views)
Tasted by hallcrit on 11/22/2014 & rated 78 points: barely drinkable (2359 views)
Tasted by wineshaman on 10/4/2014 & rated 87 points: Tart lemon, high acidity, tons of toasty oak, low complexity, drink sooner than later. (3971 views)
Tasted by Iwish4256 on 12/1/2013 & rated 88 points: Apples and slight oak. Intense, bright and hot. Always consistent Stag's Leap wine. (4816 views)
Tasted by ewineguy on 11/29/2013 & rated 90 points: Our evening got better as we had an early dinner at Hanna’s. The meal was great. I enjoyed a simple roasted chicken with spinach and carrots and had a glass of 2010 Stags' Leap Winery Chardonnay.
It was pale straw in color and had a nice flowery citrus nose. Besides the great fruit, it had the right amount of mineral feel to the glass. A great pour for $14 a glass. (4776 views)
Tasted by petitblanc on 9/5/2013 & rated 90 points: Hart Davis Hart BYOB Dinner (Hinterland Gastropub, Milwaukee, WI): Very faint but pleasantly perfumed and floral nose. Light oak allowing the chardonnay to speak. Somewhat light and simple, but pleasing and easy to drink. (2894 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 8/21/2013 & rated 88 points: Bright, with lime but also some guava and nutty components. Fresh acid, but also rich. Drank at Manuel's in Austin. (2164 views)
Tasted by wineshaman on 6/16/2013 & rated 88 points: Lemon, green apple, pear,mineral/stainless steel notes, maybe a little over done for my taste. (5543 views)
Tasted by Terramare on 5/14/2013 & rated 91 points: We have family members with a variety of preferences regarding whites and Chards in particular, but everyone loved this black-label Stags' Leap offering. (1340 views)
Tasted by DoubleMagnum on 2/9/2013 & rated 90 points: Solid Chard. I really enjoy this one. Subtle and not overwhelming. Some pleasant sweetness on the midpalate as well but finishes dry. (5695 views)
Tasted by erikjwithak on 2/6/2013 & rated 90 points: Lemon and floral on the nose. Soft mouthfeel with a crisp tartness of grapefruit and green apple and a touch of pear. Finish with a pleasant dose if acid and minerality. (3705 views)
Tasted by DoubleMagnum on 12/1/2012 & rated 90 points: Light lemony color, honeysuckle, with light floral notes. Full but subtle and elegant. A pleasure to drink. (3231 views)

Tasted by dasper on 10/2/2012 & rated 86 points: A little too much alcohol. (2852 views)
Tasted by DoubleMagnum on 9/2/2012 & rated 91 points: One of the best American Chardonnays I've had in a while. Smooth, restrained, light on the oak, subtle sweetness and lively finish. Balanced goodness! (2387 views)
Tasted by GA on 4/14/2012 & rated 89 points: 4/12 Good fruit and structured finish. 89 pts. (2764 views)
Tasted by Oakjeff on 4/12/2012 & rated 88 points: Light in color with green apple on the nose. Light bodied with lemon flavors joing those of green apple. Finishes with a bit of spice. (3217 views)
Tasted by cartime on 3/22/2012 & rated 89 points: This came across very ripe, almost sweet. Ripe peach and tropical fruit with white vanilla and caramel. Nice acidity, though, which keeps this from being a Rombauer-like mess. Still, a disappointment considering how much I've liked previous vintages. (3394 views)
Tasted by swlong on 1/29/2012 & rated 89 points: - Aromas of apple and has flavours of apple and oak - Very nice, crisp chard. Compares favorably with others at its price point.

Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 1/25/2012 & rated 89 points: TN; Wines under $18: Light gold in color. The nose has tropical fruit and some pineapple. On the palate, more tart grapefruit. Creamy texture. More bitter grapefruit juice on the finish. I liked this wine. Just a bit of oak. Easy to drink and bold fruit without being bitter. Not all that varietally correct although blind I guessed some sort of Chard/Rhone varietal blend from California. Nice wine. (4099 views)
Tasted by NJ BIG CHRIS on 1/21/2012 & rated 91 points: pineapple for days, tropical and orchard fruit. minerality, vanilla, buttery (1780 views)

Tasted by Oakjeff on 10/31/2011 & rated 89 points: Light bodied. Lemon & green apple notes finishing with a slight zing of spice. (3547 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
