Community Tasting Notes

Tasted by colmanstephenson on 10/27/2011: I was very pleasantly surprised by this wine which I expected to be a tough, tannic monster, but turned out to be a wonderful, mature classic.

A: Almost black. Garnet red. cloudy and dense:
N: Leatheryand Herbs. Floor polish.
P: A very satisfying drink. Plenty of stuffing and structure, but not (as I feared) dominated by tannin. Really quite savoury and a little lip-smacking. (1434 views)

Madiran

Vin de Madiran (l'ESAT de Madiran)

The Madiran appellation is where red wines were born to go with magret and confit de canard. Alain Brumont is a master of this deep, dark-fruited, powerfully grippy style, the tannins melding satisfyingly with the fat of the meat. HT:
