Tasted by Ridgerunner on 3/25/2019 & rated 91 points: incredible at its price point (1509 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 10/4/2017 & rated 91 points: Terrific value table wine from Ribera Del Duero (1958 views)
Tasted by G_Talbot on 3/22/2017 & rated 90 points: Very good.
Clear, medium-deep, ruby with a narrow rim.
Clean, medium (+) fully developed nose of blackberry, vanilla, black pepper and earth.
Dry, medium acidity, medium (+) alcohol (14%), medium (+) fine grippy tannins, medium bodied, medium (+) flavour intensity with blackberry, vanilla, cedar and black pepper. Medium length.
Very good, balanced, good structure and puckering but fine tannins. Primary fruit a little simple.
Drink now, and is fresh for 7 years old, could potentially age a couple more years, worried primary fruit will run out before full tertiary development and tannins are resolved.
Excellent QPR.
Cork. (2252 views)
Tasted by BuzzzzOff on 10/8/2016 & rated 88 points: Great QPR. Simple, full-bodied, broad-shouldered, ripe fruit. Another one of those wines always good to have when the fun, big and simple sippers visit. (2763 views)
Tasted by Jobu on 4/3/2016 & rated 91 points: Still pretty damn good. A few more years left in it. (2793 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 3/5/2016 & rated 91 points: Wonderful crianza wine from Ribero Del Duero (2103 views)
Tasted by olioli on 3/3/2016 & rated 84 points: Pas certain que cela vaille la peine de mettre ce vin en cave. Un peu plus souple, oui, mais sans plus. (1751 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 12/9/2015 & rated 91 points: This is yummy entry level Ribera del Duero (1692 views)
Tasted by pamitos on 10/4/2015 & rated 88 points: This is nice Rivera del Duero, good value but couldn't find anything special in it (1881 views)
Tasted by Alex H on 5/1/2015 & rated 88 points: Spiced black plums and polished black cherries with sandalwood hints. Some star anise and black peppercorns. (1957 views)
Tasted by Monsieur le Comte on 3/11/2015 & rated 89 points: ready now

brambles, plum and mostly reddish fruit character, a slightly cassis flavour, vanilla, sweetish herbs and chocolate..
loses body quite quickly which really is disappointing (1735 views)
Tasted by KVM on 2/18/2015: Shows influence of oak and considerable extraction. There is also perfume and detail. Versatile wine! (1683 views)
Tasted by Nvanman on 12/26/2014 & rated 84 points: Amazing.. I like to try this again to be sure it was as good as I thought. (1514 views)
Tasted by Vince_chip on 10/5/2014 & rated 88 points: Très bon vin.
RQP: ***1/2 (1915 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 9/18/2014 & rated 90 points: This is a very young Ribera Del Duero crianza. Really characteristic in the sense it is always drinkable, but significantly benefits from aging. I deem this as yet immature. I think the score will go up as the years glide by! (1790 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 7/28/2014 & rated 87 points: Weekly tasting group #128; A mixed set of wines. (@ DJ): Red and dark berry fruits in the bouquet, some chocolate as well. Same on the palate. Sweet spices, ok acidity, round and soft tannin and a good concentration. Although not really exclusive, this is a very nice and correct wine. Ready now and the next two years or so. (2169 views)
Tasted by K&J on 7/12/2014 & rated 88 points: Disagree with Wine Spectator's 91. They are usually more conservative. I think this wine does not live up to its potential from the Torres family. Nice wine but not great. (1788 views)
Tasted by Cyberpana on 6/8/2014 & rated 88 points: Great wine for $14. Hard to beat with this price (1855 views)
Tasted by LopedeAguirre on 5/25/2014 & rated 88 points: Improves in the glass, gains balance. It is complex, with concentration of fruit and chocolate. Wonderful value. (1548 views)
Tasted by FHLin on 5/24/2014 & rated 87 points: * Clear, deep, purple in appearance
* Clean, medium intensity nose of black fruit, blackberry and oak
* Dry, high acidity, medium tannin, full body with flavors of black fruit, blackberry, oak, smokey and medium finish
* Good (1386 views)
Tasted by ludwigbpm on 4/10/2014 & rated 88 points: Fruité, vanillé, avec une pointe de cerise sûre. Un vin bien fait et accessible. (1715 views)
Tasted by jadi on 4/5/2014 & rated 85 points: Nothing fancy but nice. Goes well w tourtiere. (1433 views)
Tasted by jadi on 4/5/2014 & rated 85 points: No complexity here, but nice. Accompanied home made macaroni, tomato and meat sauce, cheese sprinkled on top and grilled in oven (1468 views)
Tasted by beachboyc on 3/22/2014 & rated 84 points: the nose is very weak at the open, after decanting in a decanter for an hour or so, the wine begins to open up (but the nose is still weak). The nose has light aromas of caramel/vanilla, red fruit and floral (violet). I agree with some other CT drinkers, this wine has low acidity and a mono bitter herbal palate. Somehow I feel this wine is sleeping. I still have 1/2 bottle left and see if it will evolve the next day. +5+9+14+6=84pts (1560 views)
Tasted by LopedeAguirre on 3/17/2014 & rated 89 points: Concentrated with accessible fruit, many layers including chocolate and cherry. Wonderful value. (1455 views)

Tempranillo

Varietal character (Appellation America) | TAPAS: Tempranillo Advocates, Producers and Amigos Society

Tempranillo is the premium red wine grape variety from the Rioja and Ribera del Duero region in Spain. Tempranillo's aromas and flavors often combine elements of berryish fruit, herbaceousness, and an earthy-leathery minerality. Being low in acidity and sugar content, it is commonly blended with Carignan (Mazuela), Grenache (Garnacha), Graciano, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

WineAccess
The varietal is at its best in top Riojas, where oak aging is employed to generate increased complexity and harmony. From the best sites, these wines can be remarkably concentrated with great aging potential. New wines from this region are darker, and more robust, with more dynamic primary fruit flavors than traditionally styled examples. These wines seem to reflect the influence of Spain's other key region for Tempranillo, Ribera del Duero. Regardless of style, Riojas tend to be medium bodied wines, with more acid than tannins. These wines generally feature Tempranillo blended with Garancha, Mazuelo, and Graciano. For these wines, there are three quality levels, which will appear on the label. Everyday drinking wines fall under the category of "Crianza", "Reserva" denotes more complex and concentrated wines, and "Gran Reserva" refers to the most intense wines, made only in the best years.

The same labeling scheme applies to wines from Ribera del Duero, which, like Rioja, is dominated by Tempranillo and shares similar blending grapes. Again, Ribera del Duero wines are generally darker and more powerful than the most traditional Riojas. These wines also generally see less oak treatment than Riojas. From Rioja, we like wines from Allende, Marqués de Cáceres, Montecillo, and Cune. In Ribera del Duero, consider Dominio de Pingus, Emilio Moro, Convento San Francisco, and Pesquera.
Pair older-style Rioja with simple meats like chicken, leg of lamb, and pork loin. However, the newer style of Rioja and Ribera del Duero works especially well with bolder meat dishes or an aged Spanish cheese like Manchego or Idiazabal.

Spain

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
