Tasted by Vino Vita on 1/14/2021 & rated 93 points: Shocked. Shocked. Thought this would be long gone as well. WRONG. Beautiful, soft dark chocolate and cherries. Great mouth feel. Only drawback was nose was muted. Found in back of cellar and wish I had more. Enjoy ‘me if you got ‘em. (436 views)
Tasted by gabird on 6/16/2020 & rated 92 points: - Brick color with medium forming legs - Didnt know what to expect from this older vintage but it came out wonderful! There is still a deep berry fruit w/ complex oaky cinnamon back drop. Its balanced and very smooth for 17 years of aging. Hats off to Frazier and want you to know this is still an awesome Napa Cab.

Love the deep rich color and the nose is balanced, rich and perfect seasoned wine cellar. This bottle was cellared at 55 degrees for 15 years. Cheers! (473 views)
Tasted by mk42 on 3/4/2016 & rated 89 points: Getting a bit old, but still harsh. Breathing definitely helps. Not Frazier's best. (1717 views)
Tasted by rehlfun on 9/11/2012 & rated 88 points: - It's overly acidic with a full body. Narrow texture with a long finish. (3405 views)
Tasted by tapngrill on 1/16/2012 & rated 90 points: Dark, inky with an oak and smoke profile right out of the bottle. After it was open for an hour or so, the berry flavors opened up with cherries and a bit of chocolate. Rich and pleasing with a light tannic profile. Got lucky and picked up six at $15 eash on a closeout. Great wine at a great price. (3923 views)
Tasted by Yamadori on 11/10/2011 & rated 88 points: Left to breathe in the bottle for 2 hours. Still shows nice fruit profile of blackcurrent, and dark cherry. Definitely more red fruit nuances than in the past years. Quite smooth and refined with secondary notes of tobacco and black tea. The finish is moderate with mild tannins. This is ageing quite nicely but i don't see it as one for the long haul. Probably best to drink over the next couple of years. Still very good. (3597 views)
Tasted by Maz on 8/10/2011 & rated 89 points: Nice Colifornia cab but a little over priced. Fruit has died down some but still lots of dark berry flavors with chocolate, black tea and leather. (3930 views)
Tasted by rbb100 on 1/15/2011 & rated 85 points: A disappointing, over priced Cab, typical of many wineries that are able to place the "Napa" label on their wines. Nice color and nose, but not much on the palate and a weak finish. (3151 views)
Tasted by Yamadori on 11/16/2010 & rated 89 points: Consistent with previous TN. Gave this a 1 hour decant and it was drinking nicely. Fruit has diminished a little since its early days but still lots of blackcurrent and blueberry in the profile. Secondary flavors of smoke and black tea emerging. Tannins seem fully integrated at this point. Still very good wine. (1910 views)
Tasted by oldsailor on 9/5/2010 & rated 89 points: Popped and poured and there was too much oak, hiding the fruit. Two passes through the vinturi settled the oak and the wine became much more balanced with dark fruits, soft tannins, and some heat on the finish. Nice mouthfeel but not very complex. Should drink well for at least two more years. (1978 views)
Tasted by merryberry on 3/14/2010 & rated 89 points: Dark inky purple. Reticent nose of blueberry, warm spices, and leather. Oaky on entry, transitioning to rich blackberries, cassis, smoke, some dark cherries at the edges, and a medium finish. Good balance; classic Napa cab with a hint of the cooler climate its sourced from. (2360 views)
Tasted by Yamadori on 3/6/2010 & rated 89 points: Decanted 2 hours. Very attractive nose of smoke, cedar and black fruit. Medium bodied and smooth in the mouth. Lots of blackcurrent fuit with not much fall off on the mid palate with secondary flavors of graphite, black tea and spice showing. Above average finish. This wine no longer has the blazing fruit profile of 2 years ago but has aged nicely and has compensated with secondary characteristics. Very good with several more years ahead of it. (2347 views)
Tasted by DanH on 8/20/2009 & rated 89 points: Light for a cab, cherry, soft-medium tannins, smoke, very strong balck and red currant. Very enjoyable bottle. (3004 views)
Tasted by ELH on 8/16/2009 & rated 90 points: Enjoyable California Cab, but whether to buy again depends on price. (2929 views)
Tasted by ELH on 5/17/2009 & rated 91 points: Smooth tannins. Comforting, round feel in mouth. Whiff of chocolate? Finish not overly complex. Quite good, and excellent value at the sale price. (2910 views)
Tasted by robertgoulet on 10/11/2008 & rated 93 points: Well I have to say I was able to purchase this wine for prayer. Glad I did it frigin rocks!!!! Liquid chocolate cherries with rich nose. Fantasic! (3332 views)
Tasted by yathink2 on 6/16/2008 & rated 89 points: Round and very smooth (3922 views)
Tasted by acacord on 6/2/2008 & rated 84 points: Not bad, not worth the price. (4190 views)
Tasted by mbecker on 5/3/2008 & rated 88 points: Smooth and silky with typical Napa Cab flavors. Nice chewy but soft tannins with some toasty oak and subtle chocolate flavors mixed with dark fruits, plums and blueberry. Decent finish. This is a great wine but would have liked to see some additional flavors and complexity at this price point. (3817 views)

2003 Frazier Cabernet Sauvignon Estate

2003 Frazier Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2003 Frazier Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet in color which is a clue to the expansive qualities of this rich wine. Aromas of raspberries and currants waft upwards to fill your glass. The inviting flavors of blackberries, bittersweet chocolate, anise, vanilla, and toasty oak are balanced with a firm muscular backbone which will soften to its peak in 8 to 10 years. This hearty Cabernet will certainly enhance a menu of grilled lamb, roast beef, as well as chocolate torte.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

Estate

In the United States, "Wines with “estate bottled” designations must: a) also designate an appellation of origin or an AVA, and both the vineyards and the winery must be located there; b) the grapes must come from vineyards owned or controlled by the winery; and c) the wine must have been produced, from crush to bottle, in a continuous process without leaving the winery’s premises."

- WINE LABEL FAQS: A QUICK SUMMARY OF LABEL DESIGNATION RULES" by David E. Stoll

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
