deep color big fruity nose
nice jammy flavor (2046 views)
Tasted by wino121 on 3/5/2018 & rated 84 points: Another disappointment from Napa, nothing good going on here for $50.
Weak and thin, flat.
Leave it in your cellar, it might make a slight improvement if your lucky.
Would not re buy. (3605 views)
Tasted by ElSol on 11/13/2016 & rated 84 points: I had the 2013 recently at a wine bar and it was quite good. The 2012 to me tastes watered down and lifeless. (4522 views)
Tasted by Arch57 on 10/10/2016 & rated 91 points: I want to like this wine because it has many of the elements of a well crafted Cabernet but things are still a bit muted. I am midway through the bottle, decanted for 2 hours, paired with grilled filet mignon and now as I am writing this note it is really coming around with notes of cassis, cedar, dark red fruits and caramel. Initially the tannins were harsh so the decanting definitely helped but I've been trying to find that killer $50 Napa Cab and this one falls a bit short. Wish I had another bottle in the cellar to evaluate in a couple of years. (4492 views)
Tasted by andrewstevenson.com on 9/19/2016 & rated 92 points: Perfumed blackcurrant fruit on the nose. Elegant, fresh, blackcurrant fruit on the palate. A touch of minty freshness. Very elegant. (2976 views)
Tasted by Iceman611 on 8/28/2016 & rated 91 points: On 2nd day the wine is nicely integrated. This is a bright, balanced wine with bright ruby color. Finish is medium with a nice oaky tannin note. A step above a good everyday cab. (2978 views)
Tasted by pupaes on 7/6/2016 & rated 91 points: from a .375 popped and poured. nice cherrylike nose with a hint of wood. soft with a dry finish. this would age well. (2539 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 4/5/2016 & rated 91 points: Saturated, very dark red violet color; appealing, aromatic, black currant, vanilla, blackberry syrup, caramel nose; medium bodied, plush, black currant, blackberry, violets palate with good balancing acidity and sweet, fine tannins; could use 2 years; medium-plus finish (85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec, 4% Merlot; 14.1% alcohol; 18 months in 58% French, 34% American and 8% Hungarian oak) 91+ points (833 views)
Tasted by johnrm on 2/12/2016 & rated 91 points: Open for 2h before tasting but deserved longer. Very deep colour. Delicious sweet, soft blackcurrant fruit with gentle but slightly grainy tannins. Very good, already seductive and drinkable but too young, as implied by substantial development in the glass over another hour. Oak: 58 French 34 American 8 Hungarian.
Tasted with Simon Woods at Grand Union Wine Society. (2376 views)
Tasted by dream on 11/12/2015 & rated 90 points: Ripe nose of black currants, cassis and bitter chocolate. Thickly-textured with ripe blackberry fruit along with notes of bitter chocolate and dark spices. The fruit is quite ripe here but I like the structure of the wine with firm and crunchy tannins and good underlying acidity. This is delicious Napa Cab made in a bit more traditional style which is a big plus in my book. (2118 views)
Tasted by danielbleier on 10/7/2015 & rated 88 points: Solid dark fruit and oak notes , well balanced and smooth (1842 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 9/27/2015 & rated 88 points: Medium bodied, fresh, easy drinking wine on the red cherry, soft textured side of the style range. (3186 views)
Tasted by andrewdodd86 on 7/16/2015 & rated 91 points: meaty, dark herbs, tannic, meh (1914 views)
Tasted by 82Latour on 5/31/2015 & rated 90 points: Hard to distinguish much beyond the brooding tannins - currant on the nose, nice finish. Should age nicely. (1712 views)
Tasted by wmccone54 on 4/25/2015 & rated 88 points: Austin Food and Wine Festival: Pretty good, but no a barnburner as expected givne the price point. (1382 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
