Tasted by CEOBEN on 3/2/2024 & rated 93 points: 2h karaffieren. Sehr schön im Bouquet und alanger Abgang (292 views)
Tasted by J_H on 12/23/2023 & rated 93 points: - First of all slightly closed, but after 1h decanting nicely open. Red cabernet nose, fruity, meaty aromatics and pepper. Somehow a very good level of complexity a cabernet (85% and rest ist Petit Verdot) can develop. Wow, you can feel the vibrancy and freshness if you sniff the glas.
- On the palate it is straight forward, really drinkable and even it d'alceo has some body and power, it's fresh and vibrant. The acidity is there and cutting trough the toscany richeness. Great finish and just fun to drink. You can already ejoy this beauty it if you decant it.

Tasted by bbq_grandcru on 11/25/2023 & rated 90 points: Light body / 13.5pct abv which is nice. Nice native yeasts and funk on the nose. My gripe is this is thin on the mid palate and into the finish. Very soft drying tannin on the finish. (344 views)
Tasted by Joeyskills on 4/23/2023 & rated 93 points: Had over 4 days and kept drinking well. Would recommend drink or hold. Seems to have many years left. Lots of dried fruit. (655 views)
Tasted by meatbomb013 on 4/1/2021 & rated 94 points: Once again I am showing me lack of patience in opening this bottle too soon and by drinking without any decanting. Plenty of structure and fruit together for 10 years or more. Just need to exhibit some restraint and wait (1529 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 6/7/2020: Perhaps just beginning what's sure to be a rewarding drinking plateau. I love the way these wines can, when they're in the right spot, evoke a deep sense of place/soil, and give it the energy to resonate throughout the dark red/black fruits. Nicely complex already, but greater things are in store for this one. Better at the 90 minute mark. b]highly recommended

Tasted by InternationalWineReport on 10/17/2018 & rated 95 points: The 2012 d’Alceo opens to a lovey dark ruby color, followed by profound aromatics of ripe dark and red fruits woven together with floral, tobacco and licorice undertones that all develop in the glass. On the palate this shows plenty of ripe fruit and wonderful overall structure, with nicely integrated tannins and a gorgeous silky mouthfeel leading up the the long finish. Composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot this looks as if it will be accessible earlier than most vintages of d’Alceo, but it also certainly has the potential to evolve nicely in the cellar. Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.
