The wine shows deep golden color.
The wine shows high intensity in the nose, overripe citrus, stone fruit, grapefruit, quince, some heavier floral notes, layered, lemon concentrate.
Palate smooth, bitter freshness, medium acidity, mineral orange pith, peach and apricot jam, medium body, balancing acidity, persistent finish. Decadent and beautiful (264 views)
Tasted by grub94 on 2/20/2023 & rated 93 points: Shazam! Paired this with a quail/foie gras dish.
In a great place now. Much of the sugar is resolved but there is still a depth of honey and soft acidity. Nose of orange blossom, lemon curd, and warm brioche. Very complex without any oxidative notes despite the clear medium golden color. Palate had good depth and a long finish. Well matched and quite good. Glad I have more. (312 views)
Tasted by NickA on 10/14/2022 & rated 91 points: Gorgeous bright multi-hued orange colour - dive in! The wine was more like a Sauternes than I'd expected from a Riesling, with saffron, lime, stem ginger, Stollen and marmalade, and just a touch of the exotic. Quite creamy and opulent, and a lingering biscuity finish. This was too sweet to drink on its own but wouldn't have been sweet enough as a dessert wine... hmmm. (520 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 11/22/2020: Firmly in its preferred window, this offers enough vitality that suggests, to my palate, this is in a fine place now and offers limited upside. I mention this because I find the acidity to be good+, but not great, i.e. enough for the long term. Drink now even if it's got the goods for several more quality years. recommended

Tasted by acidqueen on 1/12/2019 & rated 92 points: Deep gold. Orange blossom and smoke. Brioche. Sweet but light at the same time. Very good. I think this will last awhile. (1199 views)
Tasted by BillBell73 on 12/4/2018: As expected, this comes across as fairly sweet - the label appears to say it only has about 6 g/l residual sugar but that can't be correct and it is a bit scratched. There is a decent amount of acidity here and a host of complex, honeyed flavors. This will pair well with cheese, Sichuan, or Indian food as well as dessert and should outlive me with that massive dose of sugar. (1047 views)
Tasted by acidqueen on 9/21/2018 & rated 92 points: Deep gold color. Mandarin, white floral flavors. Mildly sweet with nice balance A bit of sweet brioche on the finish. Really nice. A good finish to dinner that stays light and fresh on the palate. (1088 views)
Tasted by CamWheeler on 9/27/2017 & rated 93 points: SLDS October 2017: Golden orange coloured. Passionfruit, pineapple, ginger, orange and mandarin on the nose. Moderate sweetness on the palate, really nicely balanced and drinkable. Good flow, with a real mix of compleixty and freshness. Really like the style of this wine, it is drinking really nicely now. (1561 views)
Tasted by Papies on 6/7/2016 & rated 93 points: Mature Alsace VTs & SQNs 2003-1976 with Richard Brazier (Handford Wines, London): Gold, glossy in colour. Ripe fruit, good level of residual sugar, good weight of fruit, apricots, honey. Light sharp edge on the mid palate, good acidity, almost no "petrolly" Riesling side at all and this could actually be an SQN level of sweetness. A bit one dimensional at this stage especially on the finish but no one can deny this is a great wine with lots of future ahead of it. Very much a decadent sweet wine. 92-93 (1711 views)
Tasted by wcchang on 8/28/2013 & rated 93 points: Light gold colored. The legs are Fast. Nose with a hint of apricot. Citrus on the palate. Medium body with smooth texture. Finish is a bit short, but the flavor is great. (1877 views)
Tasted by mjf@ulkner on 1/21/2012 & rated 93 points: Bright yellow. A hint of petrol on nose. Sweet orange, pineapple , apricot flavors. Sweet, but plenty of balancing acidity. Very young- I'd never have guessed that this was 12 years old. (2325 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 1/10/2012: Light gold. Clean peach, spice and lychee aromatics. Restrained sweetness, no botrytis, pure fruit with a tangy twist of late lemony acidity. Terrific balance. Crystalline clarity. Marvelous wine and one of the most elegant, least overwrought Zind Humbrecht wines I've ever had at this level of richness. (2497 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 2/14/2010: I've been very negative about Zind Humbrecht recently, but this was fabulous. Full yellow. Scintillating nose of sweet orange, pineapple, honey, and some early petrol. Lush, fairly sweet with vibrant fruit and spice, but what is amazing is that the acidity gives it a crystalline clarity that cuts right through its richness. Brilliant bottle. (2579 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 4/24/2009 & rated 93 points: syrah smackdown (Barrington IL, Wally's house): nose: very pungent nose filled with fresh tones of apricots, pears, green apples and a good dose of nectarines. Excellent depth that one would expect from ZH that has a classy air to it

taste: great medium feel with deep tones of apricots, green apples, necartines, bits of tree fruits and a nice mineral under current. good acidity that works well as it doesn't dominate but is noticeable at teh same time

overall: really starting to drink. Doesn't fully come across as mature, but certainly in a drinking range. Its always fun to drink ZHs and this was no different (3267 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 10/25/2008 flawed bottle: Secondary fermentation. Woo hoo! Fizzy, alcoholic Riesling with a bizarre lemonade quality. Vile. The only saving grace (if one could call it that) was the fact that despite my protestations, my wife actually found this drinkable, so only 2/3 of the bottle went down the drain. (1888 views)

Zind-Humbrecht

Producer website
Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is one of the stars of the Alsace, in the northeastern corner of France. Fought over for decades by Germany and France, the region, according to Robert M. Parker Jr., “is perhaps the most underrated and underutilized source of great white wines in the world.” Zind-Humbrecht was created in 1959 by Leonard Humbrecht and Genevieve Zind. Their son Olivier is now instrumental in running the 99-acre estate, which the family still owns. Like many Alsatian producers, Zind-Humbrecht makes white wines in varying degrees of sweetness, from dessert whites to very dry wines. The vineyards are planted to 30% Riesling, 30% Gewurztraminer, 29% Pinot Gris, and smaller amounts of Pinot Noir, Muscat, Chardonnay, Auxerrois and Pinot Blanc. Up to 18,000 cases are produced annually. Many are Grand Crus and single vineyard bottlings.
