Tasted by richshoes on 5/21/2024 & rated 93 points: solid, deeply layered for chianti, medium to full bodied with nice density....dark and sour cherry, raspberry, some hints of chocolate (391 views)
Tasted by happy712 on 5/17/2024 & rated 95 points: This wine is starting to close down. Needs a longer decant now than last year. 2-3 hours at a minimum. A very beautiful wine. More rustic and burnt tomato than last year. (507 views)
Tasted by richshoes on 5/9/2024 & rated 93 points: Rounded with good depth and layering--cherry, raspberry, dark fruit (775 views)
Tasted by Harley1199 on 5/1/2024: Twenty Years On Wines, Some Luxury at Home; 4/19/2024-5/9/2024 (Alicante y Madrid - España): Served by the glass. Castelnuovo Berardenga et Vagliagli subzone. Elegant floral and fruity aromas, soft and delicate. Aristocratic complexity. Palate retains this fineness in the form of a velvety texture with good acidity and length. The purity of the Sangiovese grape. Only a couple of steps below Le Boncie. Excellent.

Servido por copas. Subzona de Castelnuovo Berardenga et Vagliagli. Elegantes aromas florales y frutales, suaves y delicados. Aristocrática complejidad. Al paladar conserva esa finura en forma de una textura aterciopelada con buena acidez y longitud. La pureza de la uva Sangiovese. Sólo un par de peldaños por debajo de Le Boncie. Excelente.  Tasted by mvande21 on 4/20/2024 & rated 92 points: Pnp. Dark ruby. Black and red cherry, touch of earth and spice. Medium/full bodied. Smooth and denser than most Chianti's I've sampled. Good acidity and firm tannins. Medium length finish. Paired well with meat sauce spaghetti. (1250 views)
Tasted by Vinnut on 4/10/2024 & rated 92 points: Medium ruby red in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & mulberries with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, pine, spices, leather, herbs & a hint of balsamic & cedar notes in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, plums & strawberries with herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Quite accessible at present with decanting & much needed extended airing & should develop further with additional aging. Very good QPR for a Gran Selezione when found at discount. (1436 views)
Tasted by jon.siracusa on 3/19/2024 & rated 93 points: 2 hour decant. Any earlier and you’ll be premature- I tasted every 30 minutes.

This is a really beautiful Chianti.

Has that mild, balsamic-mint nose that quality Sangiovese acquires. Earthy, not floral.

Medium bodied with moderate tannins offset by some syrupy balsamic glazey flavor.

Wish I bought more than 2 bottles. Will drink my final bottle on a special occasion. (1708 views)
Tasted by paul1064 on 3/14/2024 & rated 93 points: Needs to open, then great (1578 views)
Tasted by Francophile1 on 3/7/2024 & rated 90 points: If drinking now, decant for two hours. However, if you can be patient, this will warrant a higher score with 3+ more years in cellar. (1455 views)
Tasted by richshoes on 2/23/2024 & rated 91 points: No as amazing with my second bottle--sour cherry, cotton, berries...less playful and robust this time in terms of flavor profile (1666 views)
Tasted by jps3@columbia.edu on 2/15/2024: For first two hours it was one dimensional and uninteresting. Started to developed in the third hour and then it was gone🙁 Will have the second half of btl tomorrow. (1574 views)
Tasted by richshoes on 2/2/2024 & rated 95 points: 93-96; first bottle was truly amazing--multi-layered, medium-bodied, polished, beautiful and elegant so 96...second bottle was good, robust chianti with nice depth and layering but not quite as amazing, 93 (1523 views)
Tasted by schultzi22 on 1/28/2024 & rated 91 points: Nice red fruit and acidity. Enjoyable and good with good. Good wine for the price. Should age well. (1279 views)
Tasted by Bbrown82 on 12/24/2023 & rated 90 points: Quality Chianti Classico sour cherry, herbs, and earthy notes. Lots of acidity and bit out of balance probably work off with some age. 90 points. (1728 views)
Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 12/13/2023 & rated 94 points: Wine is tight, corvined into a glass. Let sit 20 minutes.

Black and red fruit, herbal notes, cassis, leather, finishes with a bit of acidity. Has a lot of complexity but also subtle. Can drink now could cellar 10 years. A (94). (1692 views)
Tasted by happy712 on 9/9/2023 & rated 95 points: Decanted 4 hours, but it was likely ready to drink before that. Tastes like a Brunello worth 3 times the price. Evolves from earthy tart cherry to a fruitier profile. Went well with seafood pasta and lasagna. (2193 views)
Tasted by tomoem on 9/6/2023 & rated 91 points: Alovely wine which punches above its weight. Fresh with a depth of flavors from cherry and plum skin to mushroom and earth. Judicious use of oak here and it lends a creaminess to the experience. (1681 views)
Tasted by Cacio Pepe on 6/27/2023 & rated 95 points: Beautifully bright and pure, cherry, anise, perfumey and floral. The finish is enveloping, extremely long, not mouthcoating at all, very fine and linear. This wine reminds me more of an elegant Barolo than a Chianti. This wine is extremely elegant. Could be a point higher on this due to having spent a day at the winery, and got the full experience. But still in the top handful of chiantis I have ever had. That being said, just short of the 2016. (554 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
