Tasted by 2caveman on 8/17/2019 & rated 91 points: still drinking well. 2007 was a powerhouse vintage in S Rhone. This was last in a line of bottles on the evening. Overall impression very favorable (1428 views)
Tasted by mgjr83 on 6/23/2018 & rated 81 points: Didn’t quit like it when drinking PnP but after an hour or so of air it started to open up. Aromas of prunes, mint, ginger and smoke. Medium acidity, medium-low tannins. Smoke, raisins, raspberry and black pepper. Medium spicy finish. (1946 views)
 Tasted by dmitchell4 on 5/16/2018 & rated 92 points: K (1978 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 4/24/2018 & rated 90 points: PnP. Nothing special stood out but this was a good entry level southern Rhône. Less harsh than other wines, mostly younger, that I have had from this producer. (1998 views)
Tasted by ksde on 10/22/2017 & rated 91 points: Peak condition (2618 views)
Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 1/28/2017 & rated 88 points: Throwing a lot of sediment, but still tasting delicious. Drink up, folks. (2108 views)
Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 4/8/2016 & rated 89 points: Excellent in every way. (2315 views)
Tasted by Ramberg on 3/25/2016 & rated 89 points: No formal note.
Decanted for about four hours, and that was a good thing.
Nose shows some nice development, with forest floor, dark red fruit and some oak and smoke.
Palate with dissolved tannins, blackberries, red berries.
Rather silky and ready to enjoy, and has devoured some of the alcohol & wood my first bottle showed about 3+ years ago.
Showed better than many 2007 Southern Rhône wines I have had, of much higher pedigree & at much more $$.
Nice for the price. (1944 views)
Tasted by slybacon on 12/31/2015 & rated 90 points: Light start. Great with polenta (2358 views)
Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 12/21/2015 & rated 89 points: Wonderful Vacqueyras shared with Jan, Jesse, Amanda, Kate and Nate at Jan's first Christmas dinner in her home. (2102 views)
Tasted by Bowmanifesto on 2/12/2015 & rated 89 points: Plump and pleasant. My first bottle of this Vacqueyras, after 5 years in my cellar, is highly enjoyable. On the nose, woodlands and fresh peppers. On the palate, plums and dark cherries. Not a long finish, but what there is manifests quite agreeably. (2160 views)
Tasted by patwjr on 1/28/2015 & rated 89 points: Soft fruit, easy to minimal tannins, drink up. (1958 views)
Tasted by Gekko78 on 10/20/2014 & rated 90 points: Quite a good efford. (1931 views)
Tasted by jsapping on 7/13/2014 & rated 92 points: At it's prime and very good. 92 rating (2209 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 1/31/2014 flawed bottle: DTC; Low budget wines plus some more expensive pirates. (@ SS): Heavily corked (1287 views)
Tasted by scotty_b on 10/8/2013 & rated 92 points: Night and day difference from my first bottle in 2010. Short decant. Nose of black cherry, forest floor, green bell pepper, candy, and black cherry. Tannins have really mellowed out and this is now in prime form. Paired perfectly with rack of lamb. (3124 views)
Tasted by markellen.foodies@gmail.com on 9/17/2013 & rated 90 points: Brown Bag Wine Dinner at Two Chefs - Double Blind; 9/17/2013-9/18/2013 (TWO CHEFS, MIAMI, FL): The wine looks Purple colored. The legs are slow. It smells like Blackberry, Forest Floor, and Cedar. The body is Full. The wine has Smooth texture. The wine finishes Medium. Jerry's wine. I have Xavier 2007 Chateauneuf Anonyme. We apparently both bought it from Wine Access. (3382 views)
Tasted by wbq8f on 5/4/2013 & rated 93 points: With Tuckers. (3144 views)
Tasted by BuffaloLou on 11/30/2012 & rated 89 points: This must be much too young. On the PnP, it was quite nasty. After several hours of breathing it started coming around:

N: Initially there was a lot of forest floor funk, but it burned off and developed into intense black fruits, anise, watermelon, ink, a hint of lychee fruit

P: nondescript black fruits, bitter coffee, very dark chocolate

F: med

Massive tannins overwhelm the mid-palate, and dry out the mouth. There is certainly enough fruit to last a few years to allow the tannins to mellow and integrate. Will not try again for at least a year. (3499 views)
Tasted by pete s. on 10/20/2012 & rated 89 points: Pop and poured through the vinturi. Tight at first, but opened up to show ripe black fruit and pepper. The fruit was kept in check nicely by the firm tannins which were not as imposing as I would've guessed based on recent reviews. I wasn't getting the herbal and earthy notes I noted two years ago. I'd do a long the decant the next time around. (3067 views)
Tasted by Pedroel on 10/15/2012 & rated 92 points: PnP through an venturi, but still a bit tight. It opened up after about an hour, losing a bit of restraint, a la the acid backbone. Will have to reserve judgement for another time, but it seems to have promise. Rated 89.

Update 1/30/14: Time has worked its magic; smoother, broader, longer. Very nice. Only one left. (2748 views)
Tasted by Ramberg on 10/6/2012 & rated 88 points: Herbs, liquorice and anis on the nose.
Medium length palate, with oak, deep dark fruit, and some secondary tones of coffee/chocolate and vanilla.
A bit alcohol/hot, with no notable tannins.
Overall a nice “poor mans CNdP”, with good qpr.
88+ (3255 views)
Tasted by Gooka on 6/2/2012 & rated 91 points: Full bodied and enjoyable red at 15€ price range delivers blackberry, licorice, nicely integraded oak and soil leading medium+ long finish with smooth tannins and minerality. (3083 views)
Tasted by wbq8f on 1/28/2012 & rated 91 points: Deep dark fruit flavors, a hint of chocolate, smooth finish, tannins all resolved. A very good wine. (3116 views)
Tasted by jrglm on 12/25/2011 & rated 91 points: A really nice bottle of wine. Day 1 was a little muted. Good fruit and terrior on the nose & palette. Day 2 this wine really opened up to reveal character and strength. (3235 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
