Tasted by EirikEdge on 12/11/2023 & rated 91 points: Deep and round. Yellow apples, pear, baked lemon, orange, honey, mango, wax, petroleum, minerals and smoke. Deep yellow coloure with sweet fruit and round acidaty to match from the start, with an almost oily medium+ long finish. Super interesring and pared nicely with norwagian christmas food " ribbe".  Tasted by dbkitc on 3/29/2019 & rated 93 points: (at Texture - London) Wow - this is the real deal. Starting to show secondary petrol notes with pure honeyed, Riesling fruit. Dry with supporting richness, the presence goes on forever without feeling the slightest bit heavy. A food wine of top order that might develop more complexity with further aging. (93) (1414 views)
Tasted by THT on 5/14/2018 & rated 89 points: La robe or soutenue étonne. (1702 views)
Tasted by klaus3974 on 1/1/2017 & rated 93 points: Excellent wine, very young at the moment. The most impressive thing is its many layers. I would wait a few years to try the other bottles. (1760 views)
Tasted by Grinner on 9/17/2016 & rated 94 points: PHMG WAG: Alsace (Chateau Lyon): An amazing wine and the second bottle emptied in this tasting. Modest petrol on the nose followed immediately by layers of white citrus, white stone fruit, and white apples...wait, do they...? Great with spicy foods, this just goes on and on. Could go another decade or two! (2210 views)
Tasted by Food Daddy on 7/22/2016 & rated 95 points: Dont buy. Ill take 'em all (1495 views)

Albert Boxler

Producer website

Description
No domaine in Alsace makes better Rieslings than Albert Boxler. Maybe as good, but not better. Boxler has its’ vineyards around the charming hamlet of Niedermorschwihr, as well as in neighboring Turckheim. The production is ecological since many years.
Jean Boxler is many generation removed from his ancestor of the same name that moved here from Switzerland in 1673. Currently rules the roost at this humble yet incredibly exciting domaine. Intense and serious about his land. Hi Craft. and Hi wine. Jean is the genius behind what are certainly some of the finest white wine in Alsace (and the world).
All wines carry a code, which is:

10’s is Sylvaner
20’s is Pinot Blanc
30’s is Riesling
40’s is Muscat
50’s is Pinot Gris
60’s is Gewurztraminer
In addition, the various vineyards have their designation:

1 is Grand Cru Sommerberg
B and 2 are Grand Cru Brand
D is Duttenstein, a part of Grand Cru Sommerberg
E is Eckberg, a part of Grand Cru Sommerberg
JV betyder Jeunes vignes, young vines
K is Kirchberg, a part of Grand Cru Brand
Hence, a wine labelled L31D is a Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg from the section Duttenstein.

The wines from Boxler shine due to their finesse, purity, complexity and … all the other things that characterize great wines. Even better, since Jean Boxler manages to obtain mature fruit in the cooler years as well as to maintain firm acidity the warmer vintages, a Boxler wine will never ever let you down.
