Starting to show secondary petrol notes with pure honeyed, Riesling fruit. Dry with supporting richness, the presence goes on forever without feeling the slightest bit heavy. Le nez est exubérant, fruits jaunes, mirabelle, puis fruits exotiques. Note terpénique discrète qui signe néanmoins le cépage. Le nez annonce une aromatique de vin moelleux et on n’est pas surpris de trouver du résiduel. En fait si, je ne m’attenfais pas à avoir du résiduel ! La bouche est large, opulente mais nette avec une acidité qui donne de la tenue. En bouche on trouve en plus du panier de fruits exotiques (mangue, ananas), de la verveine et des épices. Une belle bouteille quoique pas tout à fait le style que j’affectionne d’habitude. Vin de repas qui s’accorde bien avec la cuisine asiatique. Description
No domaine in Alsace makes better Rieslings than Albert Boxler. Maybe as good, but not better. Boxler has its’ vineyards around the charming hamlet of Niedermorschwihr, as well as in neighboring Turckheim. The production is ecological since many years.
Jean Boxler is many generation removed from his ancestor of the same name that moved here from Switzerland in 1673. Currently rules the roost at this humble yet incredibly exciting domaine. Intense and serious about his land. Hi Craft. and Hi wine. Jean is the genius behind what are certainly some of the finest white wine in Alsace (and the world).
All wines carry a code, which is:
10’s is Sylvaner
20’s is Pinot Blanc
30’s is Riesling
40’s is Muscat
50’s is Pinot Gris
60’s is Gewurztraminer
In addition, the various vineyards have their designation:
