Tasted by Mark1npt on 6/20/2021 & rated 96 points: Popped while visiting Jaime and Melissa.....30 minutes in fridge. Deep, dark color that belies the age of this wine. This could pass for a '16 wine, not an '06 in color. Black olive, walnut, subtle toffee on the nose. The wine is full bodied and impressive, again especially for its age. A slight herbal component like maybe this was fermented whole cluster? Black plum fruit on the palate, maybe a hint of aging raisin, but just a hint. Still some drying to the tannins and matching acidity. This may have a a few years left but it's drinking beautifully right now. I'd be hard pressed to wait longer on these. Just a dense, flavorful wine that was quite a surprise after the letdown of the '13 Merlot from last night. Never degraded over the 4 hours it was consumed, just wonderful...maybe the WOTN for me and Melissa? Not for Jaime and Carol....lol. (2948 views)
Tasted by AGELVIS on 6/20/2021 & rated 94 points: 30 min decant. Very deep dark ruby magenta color. Mushroom, black olive, date, walnut, teriyaki, and subtle toffee on the aged nose. Smooth, very dry palate. Firm, full tannins on the medium long finish.

Past its prime for my palate, but beautiful nonetheless. Thank you Mark1NPT for sharing this fun bottle. (2104 views)
Tasted by Elkcims on 3/17/2021 & rated 80 points: From well stored magnum. Well part it’s prime, it’s barely drinkable. Plum purée. I’ve had many an 01 $& 02 as recently as last year. Bought this from HA, no cork issues, fill into the neck, no oxidation, no leakage. No clue why this is tasting so old, but I consider it expired. Down the drain it goes. (1296 views)
Tasted by Eye Drink Reds on 9/21/2020 & rated 95 points: True to its cult style, a massively extracted, pitch black KE with purple rim. Decanted for 2 hours and needed it as PnP was pretty tight.
Wonderful nose of bright cassis, slate, and smoked meats. Similar notes on the palate, with hints of dried herbs and black pepper. Full-bodied and dry with dense, powerful, but not sweet fruit. With supple but ever-present tannins and medium+ acidity, blind I would have guessed 2010 Pauillac (Lynch-Bage or Pichon Lalande). Still has a few years left. (1311 views)
Tasted by SWatson on 6/14/2020 & rated 93 points: i thought this drank well. plenty of fruit. (1268 views)
Tasted by Quiet Lion on 5/16/2020 & rated 94 points: Decanted and served. This still has lots of youthful intensity in its thick body, now starting to show some secondary notes of mature acid. Like many cult wines, possibly better to drink young with all its youthful magic. (1114 views)
Tasted by Quiet Lion on 6/6/2018 & rated 98 points: Decanted and served over dinner. Thick, extracted, pure black fruit on the palate. Just stunning. Toward the end, either on its own or due to the fact that we finished the food, gained a touch of sweetness for dessert. An everlasting gobstopper! This is drinking beautifully if primary but that's what these cult wines are all about. (2108 views)
Tasted by danielbleier on 4/12/2018 & rated 94 points: wine of the night for many people - this was a powerful blend of dark berry and herb - full bodied and rich. (1297 views)
Tasted by City Squirrel on 1/6/2018 & rated 97 points: Bought single bottle - 2nd hand. Pnp corvin'd with a friend. For those of you still sitting on this, have no fear....still has plenty of great years ahead of it! Was just a stellar example of a luxury Napa cabernet, not too much old world finesse, nor too much modern day power....runs down the middle, which I really enjoy in my Cabs. Plenty of tannins and structure, mixed with delicious dark black fruits and nice acidity. You will not be disappointed and if you have extra, I'd recommend trying now. Cheers! (1171 views)
Tasted by Uglypinga on 5/15/2014: Very deep and dark nose with olives, coffee, and ripe plum. The palate is very full with ripe blackberries, raw beef and significant oak. Long, sweet finish. I liked it a lot without food but seemed to big even with steak. (3130 views)
Tasted by drycab on 2/11/2013: Slow oxed for 3 hours, then decanted and consumed w/aged NY Strips from the grill. Not what I was expecting based on the other notes as this was a bit tart and unsettled. I wasn't impressed. (3964 views)
Tasted by amgryger on 12/12/2012: NY/NJ WLTV Offline at SD26 on 12/12/12 (SD26, NYC): Huge aromatics of sweet, ripe cassis , vanilla, and toasted oak outsize the glass. Rich and full-bodied with a smooth mouthfeel and medium tannin and acid structure. Long finish. (3798 views)
Tasted by Share 67 on 2/24/2011 & rated 98 points: I believe this would have been Mark Harold's last vintage with Buccella and maybe his best. It drank perfectly right out of the bottle and was beautifully layered and so very well balanced. Dark fruit and cocoa are strongly present and a long full bodied finish awaits. The nose is classic Cabernet and is as good as the taste. Well done Bill and Alicia (4474 views)
Tasted by scooterdog on 4/6/2010 & rated 97 points: Deep Garnet colored wine with slow legs. Wonderful fruit aroma with presence of Blackberry. On initial taste the wine has flavors of Blackberry, and Chocolate. This is a full body wine and with a subtle chewy texture that ends with a long finish. (4291 views)
Tasted by old tractor on 1/30/2010 & rated 96 points: Very supple and approachable after opening bottle for only a few minutes, without decanting. Dark, but bright color. Hints of macerated fruits, raspberry, dark chocolate. Long finish. Definitely shows the care that went into this special cuvee. (2944 views)
Tasted by Phin on 7/30/2009 & rated 96 points: All of the power and flavor of Buccella's style taken up a notch. Huge full bodied wine with blackberry and deep dark fruits. Great length. Needs long decant and time to age. (2600 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
