Tasted by Merrit on 1/1/2017 & rated 89 points: Cherry, cranberry and prune nose, with a warm rum note. Silky palate of strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, marmalade and toffee, with a quirky touch of potting soil, charcoal and green astringency. Good balance, but not a long finish. (1094 views)
Tasted by BcDuncan on 2/19/2016 & rated 90 points: aged well, lots of flavour good balance (1283 views)
Tasted by BcDuncan on 2/19/2016 & rated 89 points: aged well, good flavour, full bodied (1330 views)
Tasted by darrenv on 4/28/2014 & rated 91 points: Had this last night, after the Fairview Madcap red (2007).
This Bear was fantastic. Took a bit of time to open up (would recommend decanting for one hour). I kick myself for not having several of these. Now I could only replace it with the 2010. (2018 views)
Tasted by James Bornn on 8/8/2011 & rated 85 points: A soft, oak and fruit driven wine that is typical of many Okanagan reds in that it feels a little overworked and therefore has no precision especially on the finish. Is undoubtedly still a decent drink for short term pleasure with barbeque. (2893 views)
Tasted by Winekrupt on 12/22/2010 & rated 89 points: The boquet was an overwhelming punch-in-the-nose of oaky vanilla with a sharp coconut upper cut, and though some aromas poked through, it was hard to find anything else beyond the "barrel program". The palate played out better; silky, full and long. Fine grained tannins and nice acidity to lift and balance the dark ripe fruit. Blackberry, strawberrry, toffee and coco with a dash of licorice. A good effort. Missing body for a higher score. It will be nice to see how the wine shows in a few years when the wood subsides. The wine has a great backbone and should stand up. (2187 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.
