Tasted by bobohansen on 1/7/2010 & rated 92 points: Always excellent. (5322 views)
Tasted by geoffucla on 10/21/2009 & rated 89 points: Surprisingly a nice zin blend. A large, thick fruity wine, as one might expect, but it does have varying layers of fruit. Much better on the first night than on the second. Drink within the next year. (5392 views)
Tasted by bobohansen on 10/17/2009 & rated 90 points: All Ridge Zina a re A+ (5424 views)
Tasted by cobbpa on 9/16/2008 & rated 87 points: Good fruit-fwd nose, not quite jammy but definitely fruit up front with a little kiss of oak. Nice vibrant flavors on the palate and especially enjoyable tannins on the end. Impressive. (5709 views)
Tasted by vanpe003 on 8/9/2008 & rated 90 points: Quite a surprise, as I wasn't expecting much from this given its modest price. Zinfandel dominates the blend, but the remaining 28% mélange seems to add a bit of acidity and food-friendliness. Dark fruit on nose with hints of wood. Medium bodied on the palate with a pleasant peppery backdrop. (5640 views)
Tasted by Parnelli on 4/19/2008 & rated 90 points: It's Saturday night ... we're at home cocooning ... I'm grilling New York strips after decanting the Ridge ... it was tough, but waited about 45 minutes before tasting ... and then ... well, if you're a Zin lover, this is a great wine for you. Dark fruit, almost jammy and stood up well against the steak. It would have been reall easy to open another bottle, but Sunday morning before church would not have been as much fun as Saturday night! Ridge makes great Zins or Zin blend wines, so treat yourself with a bottle! (3242 views)
Tasted by GolferChris on 1/11/2008 & rated 90 points: Ripe, spicy nose with lots of red/black fruit and fleshy mouthfeel. Balanced nicely for the pricepoint. Fun drinking wine that works well with steak and bistro food or for dinking on any day that ends in 'Y". (3302 views)
Tasted by wirelesswine on 8/9/2007 & rated 89 points: Nice wine, lighter in body and color than expected, and a good value. (4030 views)
Tasted by Rob MacKay on 2/6/2007 & rated 90 points: See note from 03/06. The 2003 Three Valleys is an outstanding wine. Sadly, this was our last bottle. We tried the 2004 and did not find it to be nearly as good as the 2003. The 2005 was recently released so hopefully that one will stand up to the 03. We'll see. (4531 views)
Tasted by Paul-Richard on 10/20/2006 & rated 88 points: Nice but no outstanding features. (4771 views)
Tasted by redbird on 10/2/2006: light ruby red, lots of fruit, wonderful aroma, smooth tannin, nice finish. Terrific for price $14 very good rated 88 (4167 views)
Tasted by JonnyB on 9/15/2006 & rated 89 points: Like this a lot, it seems to have smoothed out a bit in the last 6 months, $15.99 on sale a good QPR. (4929 views)
Tasted by Geoffrey Carter on 8/29/2006 & rated 90 points: Consistently good bottling. I do not know if I have ever had an off bottle. (4940 views)
Tasted by brownman6 on 8/27/2006 & rated 93 points: marvelous balance, complex, full bodied, opened in bottle 30 minutes (4363 views)
Tasted by mlgold2b on 8/5/2006 & rated 82 points: This is the second bottle of this I have had and continue to be disappointed. It had little to commend it and tasted hot and of raisins. Unimpressive. (5216 views)
Tasted by AndrewH on 8/4/2006: Note, was actually the 2004. (5409 views)
Tasted by merschel on 7/15/2006: Yummy stuff again! (4674 views)
Tasted by cwcollin on 6/16/2006: Has the same "dusty" nose and character that I found in the geyserville. Not sure how to characterize it but this wine has so much more going for it than the fruit. Excellent, can't miss wine. (4513 views)
Tasted by JonnyB on 6/15/2006 & rated 84 points: perhaps an off bottle, wasn't as good as the others I have had. (4353 views)
Tasted by Rob MacKay on 3/24/2006 & rated 90 points: Fantasic blend of mostly Zinfandel with a splash of a few others thrown in. Excellent balance, taste and texture with a mixture of black cherries and white pepper on the finish. At less than $20 it is also a great value. (5180 views)
Tasted by MBrown on 3/18/2006 & rated 85 points: Nice blend. Nothing earth shattering in terms of huge fruit or oak but a good mix of varietals I like. (4875 views)
Tasted by NJWINELOVERS on 3/8/2006 & rated 90 points: If you like Red Zin's you will love this one. (4992 views)
Tasted by JonnyB on 2/15/2006 & rated 90 points: One of my favorite $15 wines (on sale) out there. I can drink this several nights per week. 13.6% alcohol. Very approachable Zin blend, pleasant nose, medium fruit, medium complexity - (like a baby Geyserville), and a very smooth finish. Ridge suggests hanging on to it up to 5 years. I am sure it can last. Load up! (4511 views)
Tasted by mmurry on 1/15/2006: Lots of oak and jammy berries on the nose. More juicy berries and spicy oak fill the palate, while the solid tannins cover the entire mouth. This is a big Zin that developed well in the glass. (4896 views)
Tasted by mstrickland on 1/3/2006 & rated 88 points: A very interesting taste. Certainly has the classic pencil lead of Zinfandel melded with rich dark blackberry jam. Another good offering in the $20 Zin range. (1147 views)

Ridge

Producer website | Wikipedia

Ridge Vineyards is a California winery specializing in premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay wines. Ridge produces wine at two winery locations in northern California. The original winery facilities are located at an elevation of 2,300 feet (700 m) on Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA near Cupertino, California. The other Ridge winery facilities are at Lytton Springs in the Dry Creek Valley AVA of Sonoma County.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
