Tasted by SactoWino on 8/29/2014 & rated 91 points: Decanted 1 hr. Enjoyed much more than previous bottle. Fuller mouth feel, good dark fruit, with a nice balance. Seems to be in a prime drinking window, but can hold up another few years (2468 views)
Tasted by SactoWino on 5/14/2014: March 22, 2014 - Pnp, very approachable from the start. No need for decanting and don't see any improvement coming from additional cellar time. Prominent flavors of red currants and cherry pie, which carries through the mid palate and a short finish. An enjoyable wine, but better valued at half the price. (2506 views)
Tasted by LCHammer on 4/20/2013 & rated 89 points: Surprised by this blend from a Zin producer. Somewhat rustic. I expected more zin fruit but this was very structured and balanced. Good food wine. Looking forward to the rest in my cellar over the next few years. May improve to the 90-92 range. (3326 views)
Tasted by stevenjstein on 3/19/2013 & rated 87 points: I'm not sure if it's just bottle, but the fruit in this one seems noticeably faded since I tried the previous one, less than a yer ago. Still has the spicy, brambly, quality, but the acid seems a bit out of balance. (3231 views)
Tasted by JOJ on 2/11/2013 & rated 92 points: A very hearty, rustic wine. Nose of blackberry, white pepper, creosote, asphalt, and underbrush -- interesting mix of zin, cab, and petite verdot. On the palate, chewy blackberry, currant, and black cherry. Opened very tannic, but mellowed with some air. Nice, spicy finish -- initially showed some alcohol heat but this too mellowed with air. Great for a winter's eve . . . . (3295 views)
Tasted by yossarian.livez on 10/16/2012 & rated 88 points: Simply not much going on. Decent nose of cherries and bramble. Very closed. Decanted 1/2 bottle 30 min before serving. Opened minimally over dinner. Saved some for second might. A bit more open, but simply not much stuffing. A bit more open day 2. Didn't match tasting at the vineyard: dumb phase vs bottle variability. Not a bad bottle, just not much going for it. Alcohol well integrated. Plenty of tannins and acid, you might want to wait on this one. (2086 views)
Tasted by crsprout on 10/14/2012 & rated 90 points: Brambly, a little spicy, lots of red fruit. The Cab provides more structure and backbone with a tannic presence in the mid palate and finish. It's drinking quite well now. I was surprised by how much I liked this... (1800 views)
Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 8/28/2012 & rated 85 points: This wine (a blend of 50% Zinfandel, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot) was tasted in double-blind fashion. The robe is opaque crimson and the nose shows moderately intense aromas of black cherries, red and black currants, underbrush and minerals. Full-bodied on the palate, with medium-to-high acidity, big sweet tannins, reasonably well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.8%) and ripe black fruit flavors. The middle palate is solid and leads to a lengthy, albeit very tart finish. This is a tough one to guess in a blind tasting, as the ripe new-world fruit is in the shadow of excessive acid (which is obviously the result of over-acidification in the winemaking process). Drink now-12/17. (1471 views)
Tasted by stevenjstein on 5/26/2012 & rated 91 points: Definitely Zin dominated, with soft brambly, spicy, red berry fruit flavors. The Bordeaux varietals do provide a bit more structure and it will be interesting to see if they help it hold up from and ageing standpoint, as opposed to a straight Zin. It's certainly drinking well now. (1515 views)
Tasted by df1962 on 5/4/2012 & rated 93 points: PnVnD lwt air for 1hr. Deep blackish purple saturated with a purple rim. A bit closed on the nose with a wiff of bramble. Medium weight with pillowy tannins. Perfectly ripe blackberry cassis black raspberry flavors with a touch of herbs coffee amaro and cough syrup all in a delicious way. Lingering cabernet finish. Starts off in Napa ends in Bordeaux. Super cool. Lots of life ahead. (1592 views)
 Tasted by Summerlovin on 3/10/2012 & rated 100 points: 20** (2360 views)
Tasted by whits on 10/14/2011 & rated 91 points: aromatically, this is a big bag of Skittles, a rainbow of fruit and flowers on the nose, balanced, soft, smooth, maintains intensity and fullness on the palate, juicy blackberry, blueberry, herbs and pepper, picks up some earthy tones on the finish, excellent complexity all the way around, needs some air or some more time in the bottle, but I found it to be special, excellent match with BBQ beef (2273 views)
Tasted by BigTarheel on 10/10/2011 & rated 88 points: The tannins dominated in this bottle. The texture was a bit chunky and needs some more time to show its best (2184 views)
Tasted by michigan dogs on 8/23/2011 & rated 84 points: their zins are better, wine was better the 2nd day, 86 (2291 views)
Tasted by Chriskrueger on 6/26/2011 & rated 91 points: better than 6 months ago - definitely improving w age (2222 views)
Tasted by BigTarheel on 5/30/2011 & rated 88 points: A bit more austere and tart with very firm tannins this time. Should age for 5 + years. give it some time. (2227 views)
Tasted by BigTarheel on 2/6/2011 & rated 90 points: The best Antaeus, yet. (2350 views)
Tasted by Jack Cranley on 2/3/2011 & rated 89 points: Very nice soft floral nose. Cherry juice, cedar box, and yellow cake also coming through. Bold chewy flavor. A little smokey, a little peppery. Nice rounded tannins, noticeable acidity. Medium finish. Tasty but nothing jump out of your seat exciting. (2470 views)

Producer website

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
