Tasted by wine4lux on 1/11/2021 & rated 92 points: Many recent reviews note that this wine is drinking well now and shows signs of having lots of life left. I agree. Drank over 2.5 hour period, and wine evolved for the better during this window. Very ripe plum and bark cherry notes, powerful cedar and tobacco notes. Balanced by good acidity, with moderate tanning. Moderate sedimentation. (1875 views)
Tasted by J o e on 6/26/2020 & rated 92 points: A very ripe nose of blackberry liqueur, plum, cedar and campfire smoke practically jumps out of the glass. In the mouth, the wine is medium- to full-bodied, with sweet black cherries, licorice, spices and hints of bittersweet chocolate and earth. Thankfully, all this sweet fruit is underpinned by a healthy acidic streak that makes everything work. This is drinking well right now, but will undoubtedly last for some time in a cold cellar. 14.9% ABV. 92. (1836 views)
Tasted by stevenjstein on 6/5/2020 & rated 92 points: Seems to have plenty of life left. Somewhat ripe fruit, but decent structure to back it up. Not getting a lot of secondary notes, but it could develop further. (1641 views)
Tasted by sswine on 3/11/2020 & rated 93 points: CT told me it was overdue to drink this - it wasnt. But it was superb. Smooth, intense and unlikely to get any better. Really good bottle from when AO was still small enough that they knew their member's names.

Tasted by jmgalvan on 12/29/2019 & rated 95 points: Delicious. Decant for an hour. (2087 views)
Tasted by Black Kat on 8/23/2019 & rated 92 points: Still a lot of life. Blueberry in the nose and palate. Not overpowering but pervasive. Tannins softened but still present to balance out the fruit. (1221 views)
Tasted by Ewhite30 on 5/12/2019 & rated 92 points: I agree with the sentiment - drinking great, ready to go with a quick 30 minute splash decant. (1337 views)
Tasted by KO'Grady on 5/10/2019 & rated 94 points: Drinking great. Drink now. (1082 views)
Tasted by Ewhite30 on 9/4/2018 & rated 92 points: Open for about four hours before the first glass. Very expressive nose with notes of blueberries, caramelized cobbler crust, holiday spice, pepper pulp and smokey tobacco. Red fruits at entry but the fruit turns darker to blueberry and boysenberry notes, with cocoa, allspice and white pepper running across the palate. Rich, almost decadent, the flavors linger.

Holds up great on night two, the nose is decidedly smokier and the blue fruit and cocoa notes are much richer on the palate. Really nice bottle. (1587 views)
Tasted by Mattvino on 2/17/2018 & rated 91 points: Still hold good fruit. Cherry, raspberry, mocha, leather, hint of spice. Of course showing some age with silky smooth tannins but still kinda gripping. Little bit of tobacco, tomato leaf on the finish. (1995 views)
Tasted by pjb1955 on 8/28/2017: A very good wine and very drinkable as soon as you open it. (2858 views)
Tasted by J o e on 1/22/2017 & rated 92 points: Deep red/purple. Cassis, vanilla and black plums are all found in the aromatics of the 2008 Alpha Omega Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium- to full-bodied and chock-full of black and red fruits, but also good acidity and lingering tannin. This is aging nicely, and is drinking very well today. 92. (3161 views)
Tasted by Castle Peak on 12/11/2016 & rated 92 points: Two hour open and than nice accompanyment to grilled leg of lamb. Nice depth and well structured. (2927 views)
Tasted by Black Kat on 2/12/2016 & rated 87 points: Decanted for 3 hours. Initial taste, mouth feel, tannins were all good and showed that this wine was ready but had a sauterne after taste that put a damper on the bottle. Bottle does not seem flawed. Will pull another bottle soon to try again. (4357 views)
Tasted by uncle al on 5/10/2015 & rated 91 points: A very powerful but also smooth wine. Good dark fruit with a nice medium finish (5138 views)
Tasted by acordell on 3/7/2015: Enjoyable cocktail wine, but hard to take seriously. (4416 views)
Tasted by irish87 on 1/2/2015 flawed bottle: VA (4099 views)
Tasted by jhieb on 8/28/2014 & rated 91 points: Good fruit, with just a touch of dust. (4847 views)
Tasted by Mattkrip68 on 5/7/2014 & rated 92 points: Had at vellum in Ann Arbor. Decanted and gained strength the longer it sat. Deep, full taste. Winner. (4262 views)
Tasted by Lanceamoore on 4/26/2014 & rated 90 points: Really we'll rounded, very smooth. (3069 views)
Tasted by pakabear on 3/24/2014 & rated 90 points: Typical AO Cab, not as dark fruit as the previous year, but solid cab, I'm not sure about the price though (3166 views)
Tasted by lsnider on 11/28/2013 & rated 92 points: 3 hour decant. Enjoyed this with family with thanksgiving dinner of prime rib. No notes were taken as I just sit back and enjoyed the wine with out thinking about it to much. These are wonderful wines. (3840 views)
Tasted by Rich S on 8/24/2013 & rated 92 points: Dark purple color. Big nose of cassis, blackberry, vanilla, toasty oak and some chocolate. Similar flavors on the palate. Full bodied with a big mouthfeel of chewy tannins but plenty of fruit to go along with it. Medium acid, medium+ tannins and a nice finish. This wine is drinking well now with a decant but probably could use time in the bottle to develop more secondary flavors. (3711 views)
Tasted by D.Callahan on 7/17/2013 & rated 92 points: This seems to be hitting its stride now but with plenty of life left. The nose is deep and rich blackberry and cassis. The oak seems to be coming under control and the acidity makes this a great wine for food. Blackberry continues on the palate joined by black cherry, smoke and graphite. The finish is of medium length and the overall impression is of a high quality wine coming into its own. (2996 views)
Tasted by The Wine Sherpa on 5/13/2013 & rated 93 points: Drinking very nicely now. (3327 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
