Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.4 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 45 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by thewiz on 2/18/2023 & rated 92 points: Gourmetklubbens femtiofjärde middag (Södermalm, Stockholm (P+A)): (From magnum, Disgorged in 2016, 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay)
Yellow colour with streams of very fine bubbles and a maturing nose showing seashells, minerals and hints of hazelnuts in a very pleasant way. Refreshing citrus acidity on the palate with a pleasant creaminess on the mid before a lemon acidity takes over on the finish. Drinking very well right now, but should evolve into more tertiary notes with more time in the cellar.

Ett riktigt gott vin! (715 views)

Tasted by winebonanza1 on 5/16/2020 & rated 92 points: bread, yeast and toast. After 5 min in the glass, New aromas appear: sea, lime and citrus. Small delicate bubbles. A very pleasant experience! (1850 views)
Tasted by Trydebull on 1/1/2020 & rated 88 points: Från magnum.
Drack. Inga noter.

Lite enkel men en riktigt bra Champagne.

Ingen brådska att öppna de här. Precis i början av drickfönster.

Tasted by winebonanza1 on 12/31/2019 & rated 91 points: Nice acidity and taste and smell of toast, nicely Integrated, in total a very Nice surprise (1560 views)
Tasted by Jammy Wine on 8/31/2019 & rated 87 points: The 2002 Palmer & Co Champagne Magnum was uncomplicated but impressively young, most of us guessed it was a decade younger than it was. Light bodied and green fruit driven, crushed seashells and stainless steel ageing lean style. Early harvest with high acidity. Surprisingly young, I thought it was a Blanc de Blancs from 2013. (87/100) (1945 views)
Tasted by Livonietisr on 12/20/2018 & rated 91 points: From magnum. Full bodied, medium acidity. Ripe and ready. (1720 views)
Tasted by AV2012 on 12/18/2018: From magnum it was airy and flowery with notes of zephyr. It had spent 12+ years on the lees, so felt even too fresh at the moment, keep it for 2+ years for optimal enjoyment. (1270 views)
Tasted by Trydebull on 10/13/2018 & rated 88 points: Magnum. Bra men inte fantastisk. (1275 views)
Tasted by thewiz on 9/29/2018 & rated 91 points: Nose is showing incipient maturity with notes of seashells, bread and hazelnuts and popcorn. Fresh and nice acidity on the palate with citrus and yellow apples, but maybe a bit thin on the mid. But with a nice finish showing red apple peel. Still youthful, but drinking nicely. Should evolve very well with a decade or two in the cellar. (From magnum)

Tasted by AURUM on 5/12/2018 & rated 90 points: From magnum. Starts to be ready to drink. Minerality driven, with good balance. Good but not great. Medium bodied with medium acidity and medium finish. Has improved from 2016, but it is far from the excellent 1996 magnum I had at the same age 6 years ago. (1641 views)
Tasted by Argrath on 2/4/2017 & rated 90 points: Medium-fullish, fruity, fresh nose with subtle nutty and spicy hints.
Harmonius, quite fullish palate. Nutty with yellow orchard fruit. Elegant and balanced. Good grip. Ready. (2190 views)
Tasted by SvenWine on 12/31/2016 & rated 89 points: - It's somewhat balanced with a light/medium body. Bright texture - Drank from Magnum.
Very nice and fresh aromas of apples and apricot.
Quite good acidity. Flavors of red apple and lemon.
Slight hint of brioche. Very good mousse.
Not in full balance (acidity).
Rather short. (2607 views)
Tasted by Ollee on 9/4/2016 & rated 90 points: Riktigt riktigt bra!! (2729 views)
Tasted by AURUM on 4/23/2016 & rated 90 points: From magnum (1.5 l). Light yellow colour with a very youthful restrained nose showing chalk and citrus and very light biscuit tones. Clean young taste, good intense mousse, citrus notes, balanced. Less maturity than expected for a 13 year old champagne. Medium finish. Good but not great, but with potential.
Half a glass left in the bottle over night in room temperature. Much richer nose with biscuits and fruit, still balanced and nicely drinkable. (2184 views)
Tasted by thewiz on 4/4/2016 & rated 89 points: (Disgorged in 2015) Light yellow colour with a very youthful nose showing citrus and nuts in the beginning, after a while it showed classical seashell notes as well! Soft and creamy mousse with a fruity palate and a nice fresh finish. (2108 views)
Tasted by ANIMISMUS on 1/24/2016 & rated 88 points: In my opinion as (always) with Palmer, it need some cellering to show it’s full potential. Nose: dutch biscuits, flowers, almonds, honey and lemond pie. It has a nice acidity which in combination with the residential suger of 6g/l will develop well over the next 10-20 years depending on if it's a 75cl or 150cl bottle. (2008 views)
Tasted by Tikkanen on 12/31/2015 & rated 89 points: ano more cellaring. A little bit over the top. Nice cellaring aromas. (1366 views)
Tasted by Sundbyberg on 8/4/2013 & rated 75 points: Just as sweet, and as bad, as the Palmer 2002 bdb I had the other week.
A lot more open than my previous bottle, and that is the problem.
My recommendation would be to wait 3-5 years and hope that this champagne improves. (3370 views)
Tasted by NiklasT on 7/30/2013 flawed bottle: Mousse gone, flawed. (3059 views)
Tasted by Yngve on 7/6/2012 & rated 91 points: Very nice fruity with freshness. Nice wine with quite long aftertaste. (3739 views)
Tasted by Sundbyberg on 2/25/2012 & rated 91 points: I'm fairly new to champange and this is not a no-fuzz easy to drink champange. Has it been oaked? Pairing with food is a must. Very favorable price, considering the quality. Will store my other two bottles for many years to see how much this champange can take. Guess one can keep it for several years. (3749 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and A˙) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
