A bit from memory. Good bottle, although not as rich as I hoped. Not at all sweet. A bit disappointing. (62 views) | | Tasted by fitzi on 2/19/2022: Very good, classic, mature Montlouis: pit fruit, sweetness mostly resolved, just enough to balance the characteristically assertive Chenin acidity. Serves nicely as an aperitif, though its medium-weight body equips it to accompany main course dishes without breaking a figurative sweat. Not a knock-out. Still don't see a lot of additional development, but, I would say, mid-'plateau,' and not approaching decline. Nevertheless, I'll still aim to drink up my remaining sooner rather than later. Powerful nose of honeysuckle, cut pear and wildflowers. Beautiful mouthfeel with honeyed fruit notes dominating, nice levels of residual sugar balanced by pleasant acidity. Excellent on all levels. Honeysuckle and vanilla notes dominate the mouth, with a bit of pear; residual sugar contributing both to sweetness and a slightly thick mouthfeel, yet balanced on finish by the underlying acidity. A bit of oxidation - baked apple, baked pineapple notes over the top, but still a steady thrum of lemony acidity and honeyed ginger spice underneath. Texture is still quite nice, with the waxy, woolly, classic aged chenin feel. Will consume my last bottle fairly soon I think. It had a honey/waxy/lanolin note that fit that profile. The RS was obvious to me and those around the table. Lush texture. I guessed there was some age on here due to color more than the taste. More linear, tightly coiled, and showing lanolin, wax, pear, mango and lavender, with less overt honey citrus and no signs of secondary notes. Does not taste 10 years old. Perhaps a smidge less complex than le Bouchet, but with drive that is very very compelling.
Edit: a touch of flabbiness has crept in after 5 hours open... will check in again tomorrow.

There has to be some residual sugar in this. It's riper in profile, with a roundness from the sweetness that balances out the acidity here. Not super complex, but enjoyable all the same. Having 2 left, I took one nice and chilled to dinner. Paired with a kale salad, empanadas and wood fired edamame with sea salt and olive oil. Paired well with all of these. When cool, this tasted of fresh cut pineapple and then as it warmed, the lime zest, nectarine and peach came through, with mineral in the finish. damn, this was good. Color was fine, the level of demi was well managed by the acidity that remains and this just drank complete. Have another glass left for today to be amused by the Presidential debate. Not a lot of acidity, but very good and great price (2459 views) | | Tasted by alanr on 1/24/2016 & rated 92 points: Shows a bit of color, but my memory is a little faded on how it appeared on release; nose is on the subtle side, with a hint of lanolin and wax, but the palate shines with medium intensity and depth, plenty of richness, then a slow transition to a drier, more mineral finish, despite the presence of some residual sugar typical in this wine. Some of the wild flamboyance that marked this vintage closer to release has faded, leaving a beautiful, intense, almost elegant wine in its wake. Very nice, and based on this bottle no rush to drink up. Medium plus weight on palate with great balance of fruit and acidity (almost mesmerizing). Complex flavors and just great with a range of foods. The nose is really dominated by classic chenin wet wool, with an orchard of fruit in the background. Deep golden color. The palate had an off-dry Sauternes like profile; with honeyed orange marmalade, apricots and spice, that was countered by acidic white raspberries and notes of minerals and a good dollop of salinity. If you're a fan of stinky cheeses with fruit, you'll love this. If you're looking for clean fruit flavors, you should look elsewhere.
