Community Tasting Notes (average 86.2 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 43 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by sdahar on 7/31/2016 & rated 86 points: Not much left unfortunately (1674 views)
Tasted by Marcyrillo on 1/5/2014 & rated 86 points: Aromas of passion fruit, peach. Very mineral, floral, a hint of tart. A fair wine, but not my style. (3435 views)
Tasted by chcook on 11/28/2013: Acid spine propels the fruit on this one. Hasn't aged a hair since last bottle. Great value and I expect will last for years (3394 views)
Tasted by TSBWine on 3/19/2013 & rated 87 points: 87-88 pts. Just a casual weeknight wine that pairs well with an Agatha Christie movie with the wife (Poirot). The Grenache Blanc seems to have fallen away leaving the Clairette and Bourboulenc to drive the wine. The fruit is pretty austere at this point although there's a bit of citrus peel that adds some freshness and interest.

For the most part this wine is all about the floral and subtle spice notes that wrap around the generous midpalate mouthfeel. If it weren't for the citrus and minerality it might have been a bit too round but there's just enough there to keep it from being too out of balance.

With some suggestion you might be able to decipher some more notes, but there's not much delineation here. There's still enough acidity from the Grenache Blanc but I imagine this would have been better a year or so ago. Definitely time to drink now. Good at the $6 I found it for, but probably isn't for everyone due the lack of expressive fruit. (4300 views)
Tasted by mattyboy_ on 2/1/2013 & rated 88 points: Quite refreshing and great QPR. Salted butter, white peach, citrus, lemon peel, slate. clean medium plus finish. can't believe I only paid $6 for this! (4552 views)
Tasted by theplatz on 7/29/2012 & rated 75 points: Not much here. Has that "alcohol taste on the finish I don't care for". Can't rate this higher than average. (3857 views)
Tasted by chcook on 7/4/2012: My neighbor bought this on my rec for a party in December. Caterers opened an extra bottle - not drunk so corked and stuck in the fridge since then. We lost our power in the recent east coast/ Midwest storms and pulled this out on a chance and it was perfect. The acidity was softened and the fruit was preserved. The wine was delicious and although I doubt that many will let this one go for years I do think that it will stand the test of time. Really unbelievable for the money (2634 views)
Tasted by MarkPTheCFP on 3/9/2012 & rated 90 points: Great expression of a white Rhone. Nice round mouthfeel, hint of sweetness I'm guessing from some Viognier, wonderful food wine; paired it with a Costco roasted chicken, green salad, sauteed greens, and pureed cauliflower. Had forgotten what I paid for it, and expected it to be in the $20 range. (3618 views)
Tasted by vin0vin0 on 12/19/2011 & rated 85 points: A very nice everyday white burgundy, especially for the price. Nice citrus fruits. Flinty, slight minerality with little to no oak overtones. (2648 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 11/10/2011 & rated 86 points: Oily and creamy palate with some orange rind and tangy acid. Impressive for the price. (2757 views)
Tasted by chcook on 11/8/2011 & rated 89 points: I must not be drinking the same lot as some others. This bottle is full of flavor - mostly creamy but tart fruit and medium length balanced finish. At $10 I can't ask for more. (2464 views)
Tasted by chcook on 11/7/2011 flawed bottle: Badly corked :( (2444 views)
Tasted by t4drman on 11/5/2011 & rated 80 points: Not a lot going on here. For me it barely clings to the rating of "good" as the flavors are thin and I struggle to define what it is I'm drinking. The thinness of the wine makes it tough for me to even suggest what light dish I should pair it with. From a good producer but I see why it's more entry level than anything else. (2492 views)
Tasted by chcook on 9/26/2011 & rated 88 points: open for >24 hours before this note (in fridge). nose shows super clean fruit, peaches pears and cherries? on palate, this has great mouthfeel, with stern acid balanced but glycerine giving a super clean slippery finish. this is versatile and also worked with a braised chicken and haricot verts dish tonight. really great value at $10 (2437 views)
Tasted by snowbear on 9/11/2011 & rated 85 points: - Light gold color. (2576 views)
Tasted by chcook on 8/28/2011 & rated 89 points: Popped and poured. Color light straw. Nose with citrus rind and floral nuances. On palate this is rich but has balancing acid that makes the finish creamy and much longer than expected at this price point. Dynamite deal at $10, and I would pay more for it quite honestly. No brainer. (2493 views)
Tasted by drdebs on 8/15/2011 & rated 87 points: A nice change from fruity, oaky wines this is "old world" in style with a fresh, neutral taste dominated by mineral and lemon peel notes. Feels weighty in the mouth, and stands up well to richer fish (tuna, halibut) and its neutrality makes it a nice partner for flavorful summer vegetables, too. (2608 views)
Tasted by Jason Rzutkiewicz on 7/24/2011 & rated 86 points: (13.5%) 60% Grenache Blanc, 20% Clairette, 20% Bourboulenc – Pale, almost clear in the glass with light peach and floral notes on the nose. Medium bodied with nice weight that coats the mouth and palate with honeysuckle, lemon and grapefruit. From there it turns crisp with a mineral acidity before a bit of white pepper emerges on a pleasant, lasting finish. I find this is a nice change of pace, perhaps slightly old world in style, given the big fruity US offerings I typically have in this price range. That said if I drank loads of CdR white guessing I might have a different perspective. (20,000 cases made) (2810 views)
Tasted by bullmrkt on 6/26/2011 & rated 88 points: Ditto on the great value. Very nice, round and smooth mouth feel. Perfectly balanced. The two categorically non-white drinkers at the table both enjoyed. (2880 views)
Tasted by dalemosier on 6/24/2011 & rated 88 points: Outstanding value; nice departure from oaked whites, (2753 views)
Tasted by bwk on 3/22/2011: Fabulous value, easy drinking; melon, lemon and minerals. (3189 views)
Tasted by ed-d on 3/11/2011 & rated 86 points: Funky lemon infused stone fruit aromas. Light entry of fruity lemon & kiwi (?). Wierd, but OK. (2973 views)
Tasted by natehelg on 11/18/2010 & rated 87 points: Very enjoyable. Good QPR. (3155 views)
Tasted by hutch on 10/22/2010 & rated 88 points: 10/21/10: Melons. Very soft, light style. Not as intense as a few months ago. However, with some air, this does start to wind up a little bit. Great value. I will admit I'm not quite as fond as when I first tried it a few months ago. 88

7/2/10: Ripe, melony nose. Some richness. Melons again. Ripe, but also bright. A touch of bitterness, which I don't remember from the bottle I had earlier in the week. Still very tasty stuff. 88-89

6/28/10: I like this wine every year, but this might be my favorite yet. Full of melon and stone fruits. Medium bodied, with a richness that is well matched with the acidity. This is just really yummy. You forget you are drinking wine with this wine. The only white CDR I've had that can match this quality is the Coudoulet, but that's also about 3 times as much money. 89 (3461 views)
