Tasted by palmej on 11/3/2012 & rated 90 points: Smell - pear, wet grass, citrus. Very pale color. Crisp taste, a hint of butter, long finish. Still in its prime. (2600 views)
Tasted by CraigC_UK on 5/11/2012 & rated 90 points: Even better than the current vintages of Cloudy Bay - I've had a couple cases of Dog Point over the last few years and I'm now down to the last bottle. This is not a bold as other Kiwi SB's (a good thing!) and has beautiful complexity and finesse. Probably getting past it's time but still excellent. (2672 views)

Tasted by HStaal on 10/26/2010 & rated 89 points: Very good – pale lemon appearance; green fruit on nose; crisp, dry, light, not too acidic (3233 views)
Tasted by gravelld on 7/2/2010 & rated 88 points: Juicy gooseberry, melon, citrus and green apple nose. Palate shows more melon fruit. Fairly round fruit, not too sharp. Really enjoyable, long finish. (2271 views)
Tasted by Stefanos T. on 10/4/2009 & rated 87 points: Because of high expectations I was a little bit dissapointed with this wine. Very light, almost watery in colour and with quite subdued aromas. It showed some finesse in the mouth but here also the aromatic character was lacking. Not at all the exuberant style Sauvignon you expect from New Zealand. Despite these comments the wine had absolutely no fault, but failed to impress. (2346 views)
Tasted by sfqwino on 9/27/2009 & rated 88 points: Not showing as well as the previous encounters of this wine. The fruit profile was there but with slight alcohol heat. Perhaps its due to the food (chinese noodles) we were having with the wine. (2513 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 8/7/2009: straw colored. so typical on the nose. great fresh cut grass, gooseberry and white pepper. zesty with flavors of pear, guava laced with grass and chives. can't help but love it. (2450 views)
Tasted by sfqwino on 7/29/2009 & rated 89 points: Freshly cut grass, guava, pear and pomegranate, with a short but slight minerally finish. Simple but not the typical NZ SB. Delicious. Don't wait. Drink now. (2616 views)
Tasted by mmh on 7/20/2009 & rated 90 points: Great Marlborough SB. Really crisp and clean. (2761 views)
Tasted by mlarson25 on 6/7/2009 & rated 87 points: Pears and fruit on the nose. Medium finish, pleasantly refreshing. (2822 views)
Tasted by burgburgburg on 5/22/2009 & rated 90 points: Good nose, medium-bodied, very well-balanced palate (2657 views)
| Tasted by walkers on 5/9/2009 & rated 89 points: Very herbaceous on the nose, with pear, yellow apple, lots of grapefruit. Med bodied with very high acidity. Grassy, mineral, grapefruit on the palate. Medium length grapefruit finish - very acidic. Nice, but perhaps I expected a little more warm fruit on the palate from a NZ. Perhaps a touch acidic. | Tasted by Ian Pascal on 3/7/2009: Marvellous as always. Much fresher than its older and more refined sibling, section 94. (2822 views) |
Tasted by ihavezinned on 2/21/2009 & rated 88 points: on the nose a tropical fruit cup resting subtly in freshly cut grass - heavenly. kiwi, pineapple, pear, keylime. after swirling in the glass the delicious aroma of custard is added. on the palate flavors of straw & lime - a little disappointing after that wonderful nose. nice mouthfeel and good acidity. (3134 views)
Tasted by cdietrich on 2/8/2009: Very light color. Some nice tropical fruit on the palate, good acidity to go with our italian meal. (2920 views)
Tasted by walkers on 12/28/2008 & rated 87 points: Lots of warm fruit (pear, melon, black currant). Some herbaceous notes. Medium finish, moderate acidity. Perhaps I served it a little warm to start - found it less herbaceous, more fruit and less acidity than even typical NZ SB. Not overly complex. Note -- when I served colder, acidity seemed fresh, more typically herbaceous. (2911 views)
Tasted by Drugstore Cowboy on 12/4/2008 & rated 89 points: Crisp with a nice citrus finish. (2962 views)
Tasted by tplskylrk on 11/13/2008 & rated 86 points: Had to crack this for the Chef, something about a white wine sauce . . . Very light color, clear. Minerals, OAK, peach, apricot nose? Real crisp on the palate, kinda jumps on you then a lingering mid palate flavor of bright/sour white pie cherries. Interesting. Not a big white drinker. Oaks is on the nose, not the palate, strange. Anyway, decent wine, decent price, nice on a hot humid day. (3032 views)

Tasted by bvwino on 10/11/2008 & rated 88 points: Crisp NZ SB. Nice acidity. But nothing special. Jo liked it more. (3090 views)
Tasted by hargy on 10/9/2008 & rated 87 points: the palest yellow - lemon and slate on the nose- classic NZ sauvignon - good - drink now (3269 views)
| Tasted by Paul S on 9/27/2008 & rated 88 points: Crystal Wines New World Experience 2008 (Valley Point, Singapore): Alex liked this, but it disappointed me. I have been a fan for some time, but the last two vintages have been lacklustre. Nothing really wrong with the wine, which I found a decent example of Marlborough SB, just nothing very special either. Really grassy nose, fresh cut grass in fact, with typical scents of gooseberries, and guava - very attractive. What I did not like to much was that the grassiness expressed itself rather aggresively on the palate, so that it stood out and grabbed me more than the fruit flavours, rather overwhelming I thought, somewhat like a low end South American SB. There was also an unusually high amount of residual sugar. Alex liked the sweetness, I was a little put off. Still, as I said, it was not a bad wine. As would be expected, it had really good, fresh acidity. A little bitter, minerally streak added interest to the wine as it wound down from the mid-palate into the rather decently long finish. | Tasted by Alex H on 9/27/2008 & rated 84 points: New World Wine Experience 2008 (Crystal Wines): Freshly cut grass on a spring morning. Good clean and fresh fruits of gooseberries and guava. Good acidity balanced off by some sugars. Finishes with grapefruit zing and bitterness. This is like a nice NZ holiday package. (3784 views) |
