Tasted by Stefanos T. on 12/3/2017 & rated 92 points: Quite enjoyable wine, spicy with a solid structure and good taste.
However I think, as with many super-Tuscans, it's over-hyped and over-priced. Most Tuscans are good solid wines (and only a few really great) but you can get the same quality from Bordeaux at a third of the price... (2478 views)
Tasted by Maestro on 8/14/2012 & rated 89 points: Nice and mature on the nose, with red berries, graphite, and floral tones. The palate is also nice and solid, but with a few surprisingly hard edges on the mid-palate and a bit of heat. Medium finish with notes of tobacco and spices. Nice, but not worth the price.  Tasted by Johnny C NYC on 1/13/2012 & rated 93 points: Delicious out of bottle, but stunning after a day of aereation; big, full dark fruit with caramel and other luscious overtones. What a winner. 50/5/13/17/8 (7467 views)
Tasted by rjrausch on 4/22/2011 & rated 88 points: I pick up tart cherries and earth on the nose. It has a nice flavor and a good gripping finish. I feel the other bottle I had showed better but this was still good. (7935 views)
Tasted by Matt Scott on 10/23/2010 & rated 92 points: Decanted for one hour, utilizing a funnel. Eggplant-violet in colour, with a ruby rim. Very aromatic; baked raisin, currant, charcoal and a floral quality that's fresh. Soft tannins and the palate is very mouth coating. A wonderful '03, with evident acidity. Not overtly concentrated at all, while retaining the right amount of elegance. Elisabetta really did a fine job with this vintage being so hot. The raisin quality is not over-done at all. Starting to drink well and still has a long time left. What a pleasure. Drink now - 2018. (8550 views)
Tasted by Fozziedoggie on 10/17/2010 & rated 89 points: Opened and let breathe for 90 minutrs. Lots of dark berries and curant. Tanins are still present and dominant; finish is medium in length. Still needs a few more years to come to together in a seamless way. (6851 views)
Tasted by rjrausch on 5/24/2010 & rated 90 points: A really good wine. It developed as the night moved on. It was flavorful, and aromatic. It was a crowd pleaser. Search out and try, you wont be disappointed. (3194 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 11/23/2008 & rated 89 points: Henriot Portfolio of Wines Tasting (Fine's Cellar, Scottsdale): Cherry, earth and blackberry. Quite tannic. Very young and shutdown. Difficult to evaluate. Might turn into something special. (5017 views)
Tasted by jeff nowak on 11/23/2008 & rated 89 points: 50% cab, 35% merlot, 15% alicante. pretty nice wine with some decent structure and potential. but at $94, it's a big pass. (3811 views)
Tasted by gr8nrg on 8/29/2007: Just bought this yesterday and had it in the car today.I am out of town so felt it was the best scenario really. We'll, it started leaking. Small amounts up one side of the cork but nonetheless disappointing as the other tasting note is correct. It needs time! Lots in fact. It was too acidic, tannic and though it's hard to know the effect of a faulty seal, and it was by no means corked, at this point it doesn't seem close to the $120 dollar wine it is in BC Canada. I had some 2003 Lamaione from last night still around and it paled in comparison. Shame, at that price I probably won't revisit. (3928 views)
Tasted by balassis on 1/14/2007 & rated 90 points: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon
35 % Merlot
15% Alicante
Pourred into the decanter for a good aeration, about 3 hours before drinking. Very clear, deep, and brilliant ruby color. Very nice aromas or red fruits. To the palate medium to full bodied, with notes of gentle oaky vanilla, exotic spices and cedar. Good acidity, with still aggressive tannins. Needs time. Goes very well with a juicy T-bone steak. A supertuscan to drink absolutely. Excellent! (4229 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.
