Tasted by trellisdoor on 2/5/2016 & rated 89 points: Polished and well made, I was surprised that my beau and I finished this so quickly. It's not really my preferred style, as it's rich, velvety, and fruit-driven, but the glass doesn't lie. A nice bottle of wine that's ready now, as I don't think the structure will support the ripeness (but not over ripeness) of fruit. A nice example of Zin made well at an affordable release price.  Tasted by Castle Peak on 4/24/2015 & rated 92 points: This has evolved to being an "elegant" Zinfandel, as if that is possible. Low heat, approachable, round, smooth with a lengthy finish. Ripe blueberries, plums and cinnamon. Enjoyed over 2 days. (3803 views)
Tasted by gmat5497 on 10/19/2014 & rated 89 points: Nice not great. Doesn't overpower you at all. (4262 views)
Tasted by gmat5497 on 5/22/2014 & rated 88 points: I like Frank Family a lot but this one was lacking somewhat. Just didn't have the power of a typical Zin. (4785 views)
 Tasted by gmat5497 on 10/20/2013 & rated 90 points: Nice (5490 views)
Tasted by tfharris on 8/15/2013 & rated 91 points: I was pleasantly surprised. Popped and poured and this guy really delivered. Slightly jammy but muted. At times, I thought I was drinking a smooth cab, but with the jam. (3213 views)
Tasted by gmat5497 on 8/2/2013 & rated 88 points: Loosing its robustness. Rather thin for a Zin (2781 views)
Tasted by gmat5497 on 6/21/2013 & rated 91 points: All FF WINES ARE EXCELLENT (2465 views)
Tasted by skibum819 on 5/29/2013 & rated 89 points: Big, rich and jammy, Borderline too jammy for me, however the 2009 and the 2010 make the 2008 the star of the recent vintages. I prefer the 08 it's a little more balanced and structured. Not quite the fruit bomb of the other 2 vintages I mentioned. (2019 views)
Tasted by Ceo on 5/15/2013 & rated 91 points: Gotten better with age. (1721 views)
Tasted by Dental Jay on 4/7/2013 & rated 91 points: Don't drink much Zin these days, but this was very very good. With barbecue ribs it hit the spot. Plenty of life left in this bottle, but it's ready to go. (1478 views)
Tasted by Castle Peak on 3/31/2013 & rated 91 points: Rich, lively and flavorful. Crushed blackberries, ripe plums, cooking spice and peppery notes. Two hour decant blew off the heat and any hard edges. An easy drinking Zin. (1435 views)
Tasted by gmat5497 on 3/30/2013 & rated 91 points: love Frank Fam zins (1317 views)
Tasted by jfurey21 on 2/17/2013 & rated 90 points: Consistent with prior notes. Yummy. (1415 views)
Tasted by jfurey21 on 12/25/2012 & rated 90 points: Dropped my rating a little bit. This was more fruity and sweet versus the last bottle. Still big zin with some nice spice and blackberry notes. We are a fan of this. (1589 views)
Tasted by Yamadori on 11/28/2012 & rated 89 points: Decanted 1 hour and rebottled. Some bramble and spice on the nose. Mediu plus body with slightly sweet dark cherry fruit and notes of dark chocolate. Smooth and well balanced. Moderate finish with smooth tannins and a little spice on the back end. Very good but i was just a little disappointed with this at around $30. (1576 views)
Tasted by Jay72274 on 10/15/2012 & rated 90 points: very solid offering from Frank Family, as usual. Others have said this was very smooth, however I felt it still had some hard edge to it. Not as big of a nose as I thought it would have, but solid feel on the palette without being over-jammy. Pretty good but like SauvyFan said below, I'm not sure about the value because of the relatively higher cost of most Frank Family wines. (1946 views)
Tasted by markandsusanw on 9/23/2012 & rated 90 points: Decanted approx. 1 hour ... Rich, not over-the-top Cali Zin. Spicy and a hint of cream and chocolate, but nothing overpowering. Fruit actually manages to be a secondary, not screaming front and center, note. Very well made and structured. Very well balanced and not at all hot. Sophisticated take on Zin. (2153 views)
Tasted by random on 8/13/2012 & rated 93 points: Really solid zin - smooth, big fruit, very drinkable. Looking for more! (2052 views)
Tasted by emf on 7/13/2012: Concentrated tastes of dark fruit, especially blackberries, with a good spiciness. Very smooth and delicious. (2050 views)
Tasted by zinfomaniac on 7/12/2012 & rated 90 points: Not a harsh edge on this one that showcases blackberry cinnamon and spice. (2111 views)
Tasted by tfharris on 4/10/2012 & rated 90 points: Very smooth Zin. Almost closer to an understated blend. (2230 views)
Tasted by Brian1970 on 2/11/2012 & rated 91 points: Very solid Zin. Dark, briary fruits but not jammy or cloying. Well made, balanced, good finish. (2564 views)
Tasted by danielbleier on 1/7/2012 & rated 92 points: noticed more blackberry than the last bottle. Like last time, asian spice dominates the nose and integrates well on the palate. Slightly more tannin than the last bottle, but well integrated and leads me to believe that this wine can cellar for a few years. (2754 views)
Tasted by Sauvyfan on 1/5/2012 & rated 87 points: Zinfandel is my favorite varietal, and if there one wine I know it's Zin. This is no $40 zinfandel. The fruit is nice but doesn't incorporate the alcohol well. Balance is off here. Palate is far better than the nose, with ripe reds and a touch of black. No earth component whatsoever. The goopy oaky finish is annoying. I've had much better at half the price. Klinker Brick, Bedrock, Dashe, and any Ridge. (2735 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
