Tasted by knlowery on 10/6/2018 & rated 93 points: Just pulled it out to try since it was languishing in the back of the cellar. Wow!! it is really drinking well. My wife and I were eyeing each other to make sure we got an equal share. (1189 views)
Tasted by JJA on 2/26/2013 & rated 88 points: Decent, unexciting. No complexity here, but it is a decent value for the price. (4334 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 3/31/2012 & rated 89 points: This wine is all about your preferences. This is a Napa claret with ample fruit and mellow tannins if given enough air. A bit tight when opened, it deepens and opens with a couple hours in the decanter. Very pleasant to drink. Not complex nor is the finish that long. Quality but not outstanding in my opinion.  Tasted by kennyd on 3/31/2012 & rated 90 points: This wine is a very deep ruby, almost inky, color all the way to the edge. Thought maybe it was the result of some pet, but not in this blend. Smell dark berry fruits, vanilla and oak. Taste is consistent throughout, and smooth. There's dark cherries, some strawberries and some of the oakiness, but it does not overpower. Good balance. Light to moderate tannins. Drank each glass after aerating. Nice right out of the bottle. Did open up some more with each glass, however, I really question whether this wine will evolve more over time. Classic claret, indeed, pretty good for a claret. (4399 views)
Tasted by royalscam on 2/12/2012 & rated 90 points: Delicious claret; nicely balanced, smooth and good fruit content, tannins mellow; respectable finish (4563 views)
Tasted by Blue Shorts on 2/3/2012 & rated 91 points: Most excellent. More notes later, but well structured bordeaux blend. (3832 views)
Tasted by ejca on 1/23/2012: I like this wine, popped and poured. Second night, not nearly as good. (1611 views)
Tasted by HappyWineGuy on 6/29/2011 & rated 93 points: Highly recommended. (2084 views)
Tasted by dransford on 2/1/2011 & rated 91 points: Nice, subtle nose of dark cherry, spice, earth; full palate; medium-length finish with fine-gained tannins. Approachable now (especially when decanted), likely better with a year or three of age. Lacks mind-blowing complexity but definitely a crowd pleaser. (2412 views)
Tasted by flashvictor on 1/27/2011 & rated 89 points: Deep ruby color leads to a nose of dark cherry, vanilla and a little to much oak. Mediium full body has good dark cherry, currant, tobacco and vanilla. Tannins are a touch harsh. This improved greatly over two hours in the glass. I think this has potential for improvement over next 1-2 years. Enjoyable now but likely better in a year. (2563 views)
Tasted by elamasters on 12/27/2010 & rated 90 points: Took a couple of hours for the nose to open up, but when it came around it was very nice. Lots of dark chocolate on the nose. Very nice. (2702 views)
Tasted by jcrotinger on 12/12/2010 & rated 92 points: Very very good. Much better than the 2007. Incredible value - will stock up on this one. (2786 views)
Tasted by KeithSurg on 12/9/2010 & rated 89 points: Simple fruit flavors, but the merlot helps to round out the mouthfeel. Dry tannins with a smooth, consistent finish. Not its best yet, but approachable now. Better with food. (2701 views)
Tasted by jonysan on 11/1/2009 & rated 82 points: Big, over powering fruit bomb. Not very enjoyable. (2220 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
