Call that one wrong! Precise, well balanced, elegant, definite flavors that wrapped deliciously around the oysters, yellowtail sashimi and brie we scored from a friend's boat (not the brie). (1265 views) | | Tasted by Ecb1456 on 9/5/2015 & rated 86 points: Nose is a little like overipe apples in an orchard on a hot day. Slightly musty and earthy. Tight bubbles. Zesty on palate but with little distinction beyond the lemon lime. Not very complex. Sweet to the point of cloying. Maybe just a bad bottle or maybe past its prime. (1444 views) | | Tasted by Ecb1456 on 7/11/2015 & rated 88 points: Definitely better than previous bottle or maybe just my mood has improved. Still has the toasty overtones but the zest is a little buried. Good bubbles and very cleansing but somewhat unremarkable for these guys. Worked fine with some cheese but got lost with anything bolder. Maybe just a blah vintage it has been somewhat uneven from bottle to bottle. I still have a few bottle left so we will see. I will bring in some outside help to make sure it is not me. (1460 views) | | Tasted by aces219 on 1/1/2015: Had this this morning (happy new year to us). Seemed quite dry at first as one would expect from the name but I grew to really appreciate the minerality and almost a hint of brininess? It reminded me a little of Ocean Cuvee only rounder due to PN. I think it is drinking just fine now. (2023 views) | | Tasted by Ecb1456 on 9/27/2014 & rated 85 points: This is not cellaring well. Toasty nose with a mineral overtone. The yeastiness that was a joy before is more oppressive than the in-laws at the holidays. Slight lemon zest at start gets buried rapidly under the assault of the dry yeast beasties. But otherwise thin and lacking complexity. I will never get this off of my tongue. Maybe just a slightly off bottle or this vintage is not the one I loved previously. If only there were an app to tell me that. Oh wait... (1752 views) | | Tasted by jfinke on 1/1/2013 & rated 89 points: Crisp with apple overtones. (2042 views) | | Tasted by Scott Butler on 11/19/2012: It seems I forgot to write a note, as we drank this a month or more ago. It was really wonderful, but descriptors are too far removed from my memory. (1872 views) | | Tasted by Eugene on 8/21/2012 & rated 90 points: Beautiful "Champagne" with great acidity, mineralty and really tiny bubbles. (2161 views) | | Tasted by Dwey on 8/19/2012 & rated 89 points: really great, apples and cream. (2001 views) | | Tasted by eoinhharkins on 7/26/2012 & rated 87 points: nose of lemon and grapefruit palate had lime zest and some apple medium finish (1818 views) | | Tasted by eoinhharkins on 5/5/2012 & rated 86 points: Notes of lemon, baked granny smith apple on the nose but given the acidity i got in the mouth i would have expected a longer finish (1030 views) | | Tasted by VeniVediBibi on 4/2/2012 & rated 87 points: A pleasant, but not particularly distinctive sparker. A bit of a come down from the Iron Horse Wedding Cuvee that we had opened a couple of days before. (929 views) | | Tasted by Charlie Pendejo on 2/14/2012 & rated 86 points: Very lean and lemony-tart with kinda prickly mousse and some minerality. I didn't really notice yeasty/toasty notes; this seemed to me all about, at this stage of its life, vibrancy and vigor and cut. It's probably superb with oysters but was just a little much for my tastes and the meal (striped bass in a bright, picante tomato-habanero salsa) it accompanied. (1309 views) | | Tasted by klezman on 11/22/2011: Good wine, but much more lean than I would have expected. Even though the dosage is almost zero sugar. I think I'd need a few more tries at this one to understand it, but it's a nice drinker with a bit of a harsher edge to it. (1540 views) | | Tasted by bbakove on 11/20/2011 & rated 90 points: Less sweet than the rest of the family, this is a well balanced bubbly with old world flavors. Smokey yeast permeates riper fruit flavors of fig, apple and almond with a stony, lingering finish. Drink now to 2013. (1290 views) | | Tasted by bbakove on 10/18/2011 & rated 90 points: Drank to celebrate Brad finishing traffic school for his latest speeding ticket. Nice and dry, toasty and creamy. Very refreshing! (1400 views) | | Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 9/30/2011 & rated 85 points: Crisp acidity, lemon zest, elements of citrus. B (1321 views) | | Tasted by nieuwoudt on 9/11/2011 & rated 90 points: nice finish - clean/refreshing (1375 views) | | Tasted by oog on 2/2/2011 & rated 91 points: I wish I had taken better notes, but it was quite good. Very nice minerality. (1719 views) |
