| Community Tasting Notes (average 90.7 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 99 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by blanquito on 6/30/2020: Another bottle of this, another great bubbly. This domaine ain't sexy, but man was this good. Straight down the middle stylistically speaking, with great volume and intensity. If you are looking for exoticism or novelty in your champagne, this will be guilty of boring you with its predictable competence but it is otherwise this is undeniably excellent and in a great spot. Will hold for a good while yet, but I like it now for its freshness. 93-94 pts. (2777 views) | | Tasted by nihraguk on 6/8/2020 & rated 91 points: Surprisingly pleasant. Saline, lemony, slightly sweet. A crowd pleaser. (2326 views) | | Tasted by Tim Heaton on 2/3/2020: Mature, in the evolved sense, but also in the harmonious sense. The freshness is in perfect harmony with the mature white, yellow, orange citrus fruits. It's the persistence, almost in a mouth-filling way, that really captured my attention. Just delicious now, and for the next couple of years. A really good start to a fun evening. recommended+ (3187 views) | | Tasted by Lars1974 on 12/29/2019 & rated 91 points: Really fresh and not showing any age yet. Bread, lemon, pears and melon. Some saline on the nose. Very nice indeed. Will save my other bottles for at least 4-5 years, (2725 views) | | Tasted by thewiz on 9/20/2019 & rated 92 points: (Magnum late disgorged in September 2019) Typical for the house showing black currants and gooseberry and smokiness on the nose. Very pleasant and creamy palate showing a nice acidic black currant fruitiness. (Best 2019-2032) (2677 views) | | Tasted by SimonG on 6/8/2019 & rated 91 points: R/Y/I/C (Home): Pale to mid straw. Nicely rich on the nose without anything oxidative. Really rather good — a good blend of richness and some maturity cut through with a lemon zestiness. (2259 views) | | Tasted by Eric Anderson on 5/22/2018 & rated 90 points: Drank beautifully! Showing its age refinement, with smooth delicate flavors, mellow acids, and lovely light toasty finish. The hit of the evening (2532 views) | | Tasted by aquacongas on 2/4/2018 & rated 92 points: Semiblind Tasting of 17 Champagnes from the great vintage 2002
The most elegant and most inconspicuous Champagne in this flight, a hint too sweet and the shortest finish of all wines. 91-92 (2805 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 1/12/2018 & rated 91 points: A private dinner with a friend (at home): My last bottle. Still rich and rounded and elegant, gentle and mature but not at all tired. Bowing out gracefully. (3095 views) | | Tasted by brittain on 1/7/2018 & rated 91 points: Continues to develop. A touch more golden than previous bottles, still fresh but with long, fruity palate. Hint of butteriness developing. 2002 vintage style suits this well. No rush - easily 5-8 years . (2270 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 12/11/2017 & rated 91 points: Continues on its very gradual, downhill path; still a lovely and complete champagne, still fresh, with flavours of toast, lemon, orange and flowers, but it has lost the luxurious, creamy richness which it had 2-5 years ago. Drink up. (2352 views) | | Tasted by RayOB on 7/27/2017 & rated 91 points: Drank at 67 (Magnum) Rich mouth coating and smooth. Well integrated. Nice. (1673 views) | | Tasted by bestdamncab on 3/24/2017 & rated 90 points: Nose of yeast, peach, and slate, more of the same on the palate, medium/big body, very tasty, mouth filling Champagne, and a flavorful, medium/long finish. (2733 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 2/25/2017 & rated 91 points: A private tasting and dinner (at home): Toast and ripe lemon, candied orange, balanced and stylish, creamy and elegant but not quite as seamless and silky as two or three years ago. Drink sooner rather than later. (3198 views) | | Tasted by Harley1199 on 11/29/2016: Laurent Perrier Millésimé Vertical Tasting (Lavinia - Madrid): From a magnum bottle. Truly powerful in its initial attack on the nose. It is sharp and knife-like. Very citric. White fruit in the background with some note of animal. On the mouth is a bit raw yet. It has enough body and the alcohol still feels in the throat. I like the bitterness that leaves at the aftertaste and that gives some persistence. Disgorgement in 2012.
(3483 views) | | Tasted by rocknroller on 9/11/2016 & rated 93 points: First Growths at Capital Grille (Capitalle Grille, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Wow, was thrilled with how this performed. Last bottle and drinking at peak now. Wonderful on the nose with bright pear, sea air,and yeast. The palate delivers on the same or even a higher level, bringing pear, apple, biscuit, and a freshness, with great acid such a crisp refreshing mid and back end. Excellent. At peak. 92+ to 93pts. (3808 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 7/1/2016 & rated 92 points: Rounded and silky, slightly on the softer side, with complex flavours of nuts, brioche, Grand Marnier, flowers, lemons, cream and seashells; elegant and seamless, it is still fresh and precise but gradually starting to become more teritiary, with a lovely flavour intensity and a long and layered finish. Fully mature, drink up over the next 3-5 years. (3634 views) | | Tasted by BigJ on 8/3/2015 & rated 92 points: Drank 2 bottles this evening. Nice rich mouthfeel but nose a little mute. Fresh, crisp and lean palate that will no doubt fill out in coming years. Good vintage character showing this evening which is a good sign for the future. I will hold remaining bottles for 3 more years then taste again (3787 views) | | Tasted by Dryckesupplevelser on 4/30/2015 & rated 91 points: Stor doft av gröna äpplen, grädde, vanilj, lime. Chardonnay i doften Mycket fräsch smak och fantastisk mousse. Röda äpplen, hasselnöt, lite citrig men ändå inte. Nougat i eftersmaken som är lång. Mer Pinot i smaken. Ung och vital trots ålder. Mycket bra! (3949 views) | | Tasted by Champagneinhand on 4/24/2015 & rated 90 points: from a magnum and starting of the CT -Texas offline with a few fun champagnes. This was the standard, but with other 2002 it showed well in the mouth but was a bit withdrawn in the bouquet. A well structured wine that showed a very strong taste of tart green apple with just a hint of toasted bread and autolytic notes. Minerals wee there, but this was a crowd pleaser rather than a wine making a grand statement. Very enjoyable and may improve greatly in 10+ years. (3766 views) | | Tasted by BornToRhone on 4/24/2015 & rated 90 points: 1.5l; PnP; clear medium yellow, small moderate bubbles; aromas of lemon, mild brioche and yeast; flavors of lemon, apple and mild brioche; decent champagne. (3366 views) | | Tasted by Vino Me on 4/5/2015 & rated 92 points: Opened by Mark. From magnum. Medium yellow color. 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Charconnay. Good bead. Earthy aromas with saltwater. Nice depth with chalk, citrus and pear. Never been overly impressed by this house (although the 1997 Cuvee Alexandra was excellent). This wine just beat out the 1995,1997 and 2004 vintages as the best LP Milesime I've had. 92 points. (3472 views) | | Tasted by Raycheng77 on 2/27/2015 & rated 91 points: Good structure, citrus fruit, lime, green apple, quite creamy and yeasty, toast, bread and biscuit. The champagne will become better and better when the temperature rise. Good. (2041 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 1/1/2015 & rated 91 points: Mature hint of toasted nuttiness, balanced, elegant, cream and lemons, flowers, orange, fresh and silky, lovely length. Laurent-Perrier: Innovator in Champagne
The Laurent-Perrier style is grounded in the vision of one man, Bernard de Nonancourt, who began creating champagnes underpinned by freshness, finesse and elegance as early as the 1950s. Above and beyond the style, what defines the House of Laurent‑Perrier is its role as an innovator and pioneer in ensuring of the quality of wines in Champagne. In 1959, Laurent-Perrier created Grand Siècle, a blend of three exceptional vintages that complement each other perfectly to recreate the perfect year. In 1968, Laurent-Perrier introduced Cuvée Rosé elevating non-vintage rosé champagne through a totally new type of wine. In 1981, Laurent-Perrier launched Ultra Brut as the perfect complement to nouvelle cuisine long before the “Brut Nature” category was even created. In 1987, Laurent-Perrier presented an exceptional marriage between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with Alexandra Rosé vintage champagne. In 2017, Laurent-Perrier unveiled the evolution of its Brut Non-Vintage, “La Cuvée”, showcasing significant advances in quality. In 2019, Laurent-Perrier innovated with Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature, no dosage, by perfecting its knowledge of stainless steel vat vinification.Champagne Blend"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.
However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.France Vins de France (Office National Interprofessionnel des Vins ) | Pages Vins, Directory of French Winegrowers | French Wine (Wikipedia)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.ChampagneThe vineyards of Champagne on weinlagen-info |
