Tasted by bowesmana on 11/20/2017 & rated 89 points: Not as good as the 2008 (1889 views)
Tasted by radm.hum on 10/12/2016 & rated 91 points: A rich & vivacious package yet balance with licorice, 'toffee-smoky' sweetness on aroma. A friend claim it came with oaky/woody with hints of chocolate. Good body with mid-hard tannin. Liking the welcoming complexity. 2009 at its peak plateaus has an warmer tone of red. (2282 views)
Tasted by Rktekt3 on 2/27/2014 & rated 84 points: Same as last time. (4026 views)
Tasted by PSPatrick on 8/26/2013 & rated 89 points: Flight 2, USA, Wine 6 (blind): The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered an expressive nose of ripe, jammy fruit, dark berries, dark cherry, damson and lots of spices. On the palate the round, full-bodied wine showed dark berries, damson, spices and a hint of tea, plus blood orange on the finish, paired with medium-plus acidity, medium-level tannin and very good length. Solid. (4433 views)
Tasted by Shiaxonna on 6/8/2013 & rated 89 points: Perhaps not as monolithic as the 2008, but still a very good wine. (4504 views)
Tasted by Rktekt3 on 3/25/2013 & rated 84 points: This is much better at a restaurant when I pay $10 a glass instead of $12 for the bottle at retail for some reason. (3573 views)
Tasted by Mjd5441 on 3/8/2013 & rated 89 points: Deep ruby - Easy to drink - nicely balanced - bite of peppermint with sweet cherry finish. Having with grilled teriyaki flank steak. (3134 views)
Tasted by DrStuart on 2/24/2013 & rated 86 points: - Ruby color. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Round texture with a medium finish - Big mouth-filling wine, high alcohol is well balanced. Not complex, but greatly enjoyable for quaffing. (2281 views)
Tasted by Man in Black on 2/20/2013: Clear, pale ruby colour with slightly inky legs. Clean, medium intensity developing nose, aromas of blackberries, oak, black pepper and clove. Off-dry, medium- acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol, medium+ body, medium intensity flavours of vanilla, toast, black cherries, clove and black pepper. Medium+ finish. Good quality. Can drink now, but has potential for further ageing. (1475 views)
Tasted by tendring on 1/28/2013 & rated 86 points: Wine Education Service - California (LSE): Opaque.
Lovely nose.
Meaty, fruity, very soft tannins, a little oaky, peppery, medium length. (1319 views)
Tasted by PinotPaul on 1/24/2013 & rated 84 points: Decent Zin nothing special. No off flavors. Okay nose. (1479 views)
Tasted by riojadog on 1/23/2013 & rated 87 points: Pleasant nose of mulberry/blackberry with hint of soil or mushroom. Tight tannins & refreshing acidity and sweetish balanced finish. No complexity - but a good quaff. (1334 views)
Tasted by KU_Jer on 1/5/2013 & rated 89 points: Paired great with a beef short rib Ragu and gnocchi dish. (1457 views)
Tasted by Merrit on 12/14/2012 & rated 80 points: Intriguing nose of mouth-watering, spicy red fruit. Initial palate was super tart, so ran it through a Vinturi. It opened up into a brambly mix of strawberry, plum, charcoal, graphite, sour cherry candy, black pepper and cassis. There was a dusty quality to the flavor. The tartness almost triggered heartburn, but other than that, it was easy-drinking and had good mouthfeel. I would definitely drink this if offered at a party, but wouldn't buy it again. (1436 views)
Tasted by fatherdamo on 12/9/2012 & rated 84 points: it's well made and does what it says on the tin. but it's just a little too boring. fine for teh price. (1432 views)
Tasted by salkowski on 11/23/2012 & rated 84 points: Enjoyable, but not especially complex. Jammy with fresh blueberry and plum, without enough of that brambly taste I usually enjoy in zins. (1493 views)
Tasted by raydawgone on 6/11/2012 & rated 88 points: Tobacco, white pepper & bramble. Nice QPR, solid bottle for Summer grilling. (2187 views)
Tasted by InternationalWineReport on 5/28/2012 & rated 89 points: If you are looking for a delicious wine to please a crowd at your next summer BBQ the 2009 Ravenswood Zinfandel Old Vine Lodi would be an excellent choice. It has notes of sweet currant, vanilla, spices and toasted oak. Full-bodied with a soft and round texture that makes it easy to drink. This would pair up well with any type of grilled beef. The final blend is composed of 77% Zinfandel, 23% Petite Sirah. (Drink 2012-2015) - May, 2012. (JD) (2074 views)
Tasted by Tarrant on 5/21/2012 & rated 89 points: Very nice Zin, very typical notes with a bit of heat but delicious nonetheless - Dark, full bodied with a nose of blackfruit, bramble, plum, cherry, spice, heat and vanilla, good structure and decent integration with a touch of heat, off dry on the palate with good length, very tasty! (89 Points). (2018 views)
Tasted by wayne47 on 4/23/2012: Pass. Especially at the $10 price point. (2233 views)
Tasted by say66what on 1/27/2012 & rated 84 points: Jammy, very ripe berry flavors less complexity. (2319 views)
Tasted by Piepro on 1/25/2012 & rated 84 points: Nice nose, with soft jammy berry flavors and smooth transition to a quick, thin finish. Not bad for a $10 bottle of wine...
(2227 views)
Tasted by Normones on 1/20/2012 & rated 79 points: The good: $10 at Costco. The bad: that is too much. This is very thin. Like tasted literally watered down. Little fruit. Cheap wood. Bitter. Blah (2270 views)
Tasted by Boom Baby! on 1/13/2012 & rated 86 points: Popped and poured, drank this wine side by side with the 2009 Paso Creek Zin. Nice dark fruit flavors with just a touch more acid than the Paso Creek. Still for under $15 this is a decent wine. (2334 views)
Tasted by edjade on 1/2/2012 & rated 88 points: Very tasty Zinfandel, as we've come to expect from Ravenswood. This bottle is just dripping with flavors of raspberries and cream. Went very well with crispy chicken, spinach, beets, and quinoa, and then went very well on its own the rest of the evening. (2424 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
