Tasted by Validus on 7/7/2018 & rated 85 points: Feel bad rating it this low, as I feel it was almost certainly a better wine 5 years ago. Was given to me as a gift 3 years ago and properly stored after that, but maybe not beforehand. Wine had nothing left in 2018. Flat, though not acrid or unpleasant, just dull. (2695 views)
Tasted by Bailey05 on 5/8/2017: Just passed it time. (3466 views)
Tasted by Tmurnin on 12/13/2015 & rated 76 points: Ugh. Think I left this too long.
Cork broke apart upon opening despite careful storage. Wine just had nothing left. My fault for forgetting about this until now but waste of $50 (4585 views)
Tasted by hrazdiiv on 5/10/2015 & rated 88 points: I feel like this wine can't decide if its wants to be a Kistler or a Lewis. With flavours somewhere in between, this medium bodied wine had an average nose with some hints of oak and spices, perhaps even some citrus. But as the night wore on, it just didn't get any more interesting. It had a nice dark colour so I kept waiting for it to open up but it did not. The finish was also pretty average, not particularly long with some of the nicer notes of pear and honey trying to come to the surface but just not making an impact, I felt. Given the quality of the year, I was expecting more from this well stored bottle. (5075 views)
Tasted by preka99 on 3/16/2015 & rated 90 points: Great wine, finish short (5197 views)
Tasted by rolandkyle on 2/23/2014: Still good and drinkable but reaching the end (4544 views)
Tasted by biff_of_burl on 3/25/2013 & rated 91 points: Ageing well. Toasty nuts on the palette. Short finish, likely age related. Well made; an excellent California Chard. (5239 views)
Tasted by biff_of_burl on 3/17/2013 & rated 91 points: Near the end of its run. Still excellent. Slightly abrupt finish is the only sign of age. (4098 views)
Tasted by xuaeinw on 3/7/2013 & rated 94 points: This wine has really evolved. Worth the wait. Very French like now. (3422 views)
Tasted by cartime on 2/3/2013 & rated 89 points: Ripe stone fruit with some oak sticks out awkwardly. A touch of sweetness on the finish. Okay. (1942 views)
Tasted by mouton45 on 1/28/2013 & rated 91 points: with chicken veloute (2420 views)
Tasted by xuaeinw on 8/26/2012 & rated 91 points: Mellow, rich, smooth, balanced with oak tones. (3382 views)
 Tasted by rtd3 on 4/29/2012 & rated 96 points: Fabulous! (3151 views)
Tasted by Robert Pavlovich on 4/9/2012 & rated 90 points: Mellow lemon, with some butter cream, and faint oak on the palate. There's a nice little line of acidity burried underneath, though not much of a finish this is drinking well. Very pleasant. Enjoyed over easter lunch with the family. (3258 views)
Tasted by miller3324 on 1/6/2012: Drinking very well after a couple of years in the cellar. Very crisp and focused for a Cali Chardonnay. A nice balanced food friendly wine (3679 views)
Tasted by cliffkol on 11/11/2011: Creamy, silky. Soft citrus flavors, slight oak. Evolving nicely. (4188 views)
Tasted by mouton45 on 11/6/2011 & rated 90 points: Nice but I and everyone else liked the Rudd Baciagulupi better (3879 views)
Tasted by vine20 on 8/15/2011 & rated 92 points: Notes consistent with 12/20/09. (4022 views)
Tasted by vine20 on 6/5/2011 & rated 89 points: Pale yellow with a faint citrus nose. Austere lemon and grapefruit. Less of the creamy butter that characterizes this wine. (4585 views)
Tasted by nycebo on 5/27/2011 & rated 84 points: Just a bit too oaky and lacking in aromatics to join the list of my favorite California chards. Wanted to love it because of their cabs but there are many better choices out there. (2492 views)
Tasted by cliffkol on 5/7/2011 & rated 91 points: Strong citrus flavors and very creamy. This wine has been evolving to a slightly more acidic and yet richer structure over time. Tasted along with the 2009, which came out slightly ahead of the 2007. Never disappoints, always a crowd pleaser. (4818 views)
Tasted by Outplaying on 4/24/2011: Dinner at Holly and Tony's (Wilmington, Delaware): Lemon merangue (spelling?), oak, vanilla and pear. A little oaky for my taste but this maybe better with a little more time. (5408 views)
Tasted by RobynJ on 1/1/2011: Great (6020 views)
Tasted by MR.CG on 12/29/2010 & rated 84 points: not worth the money (5724 views)
Tasted by cliffkol on 12/13/2010 & rated 91 points: Reliable, solid chardonnay. If you like this style, oaky and creamy, a really nice wine. Served with sauteed scallops. Has developed more tartness over the past year which balances the wine but nudged my rating down a point. (5817 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
