Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.5 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 13 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by platpeeps on 11/1/2022 & rated 82 points: Stinky, possibly a little Bretty, but not much fruit. Mellow and integrated but still tannic and rather bitter. A poor Bottle and disappointing. I suspect this may have been a bad bottle but I couldn't detect any obvious wine faults. CHP 82 pts (279 views)
Tasted by Curt Jacques on 12/28/2019 & rated 87 points: stewed fruit. overripe blackberries - on a hot day - about to take up a colony of green mold. Somehow just the smallest hint of green pepper.

A bit of granite or perhaps limestone on the finish?

No acid. Drink now. It'll be downhill from here. (669 views)
Tasted by dbay on 8/31/2016 & rated 90 points: Upon opening aromas of potted meat, blackberries. On the palette- full bodied fruit forward, black currants and plums, lavender and slight tar and tannins on the finish. A hint of cedar possibly. Better Day 1. (1628 views)
Tasted by bablues on 12/6/2014 & rated 91 points: Part of a Red Rhone blends from around the world batch. Didn't take detailed notes but was held it's own to others. Very nice (2436 views)
Tasted by Duncan on 11/11/2013 & rated 94 points: Sublime. Wonderful nose of sweet oak and ripe berries. Luscious palate. Very fine tannins, just enough acidity, good length. Will no doubt keep for many years, but is simply perfect right now. 14.5% (2740 views)
Tasted by Korolev_mv on 9/29/2013 & rated 92 points: Ароматы сливы, вишни, смородины, лесных ягод. Хорошо сбалансированное и структурированое. Напоминает CdP, но более резкое и новосветски агрессивное. Очень неплохое, будет развиваться еще пару-тройку лет. (2501 views)
Tasted by startinoz on 7/20/2013 & rated 95 points: My Favourie Australian Wines; 8/27/2010-8/28/2014: Marzipan and cinnamon new French oak. Rich, elegant, complex black fruits. Very long. (3340 views)
Tasted by Dalun on 12/26/2011 & rated 89 points: Spice, musky fresh full. Berries a plenty. Beetroot red colour. Long on palette roof. (2233 views)
Tasted by spatialiser on 11/27/2011 & rated 90 points: [Reserve Wines Christmas Wine Fair 24th Nov 2011] Wonderful, and well set for the future. (1601 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
