Tasted by mowtod on 6/13/2022 & rated 88 points: Still great chicken pot pie (520 views)
Tasted by redz on 8/23/2020 & rated 92 points: rich, flavorful chardonnay., not as mellow as the 2006. Still young. Delicious (280 views)
Tasted by Neecies on 9/9/2019: Erik's. Ripe with a lot of butterscotch notes, easy to guess the vintage but still more developed than one would expect from this producer. Drink up. (951 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 12/2/2016 & rated 90 points: Dinner @ Home (Fremont, CA): Lovely golden color; nose is highly aromatic with buttered popcorn, butterscotch, some white fruit; palate is full bodied, smooth texture, high alcohol (14.9% in a white!), medium acid, slight oily texture, much less oxidation than in my last bottle; medium finish. Overall this was markedly better than my other bottle: fresher, less oxidation, longer finish, though similar in style as a riper California chardonnay. Ready to drink now. 90 (2373 views)
Tasted by DoubleMagnum on 4/19/2016 & rated 84 points: Oak, butter and vanilla. No grape in sight. Thick and syrupy. Heat is evident on the finish. If you are looking for a light Scotch, you've found it. (2463 views)
Tasted by tomlee on 4/3/2016 & rated 92 points: Gold in color. 14.9% ABV. Super nose of lemon oil, creme brulee and vanilla bean. Medium to full bodied with perfect acidity. Great mouthfeel which is the calling card of all Dehlinger wines. Pear, apple and honeysuckle on the palate. The finish is exquisite. Gorgeous Chardonnay that somehow melds the best of the old world and the best of the new world. Drink over the next 1-2 years. (2440 views)
Tasted by DoubleMagnum on 1/20/2016 & rated 88 points: Good wine but a bit too much oak for my taste. Vanilla, brown butter and toast overpower any varietal notes. Reds are more to my liking from this producer. (2190 views)
Tasted by RajivAyyangar on 11/30/2015 & rated 85 points: Monday night Blinds at Home (Home (Noe st)): Moderate plus concentration gold in the glass.
Savory, well-integrated oak (toast, pie crust), slight reduction (rubber ball), but also signs of age (nuttiness, hazelnut). Noissette butter. Lemon curd. Slight browned apple. Super well-integrated wood.

Creme brulee. Butterscotch
Alcohol is elevated - 13.5% (15%).
Acid is elevated - clean tartaric.
Finish is a bit short.
There's a savoriness that's amazing.
slight dusty dry earth.

Primarily savory.

2005 Meursault, Premier Cru.

CA: Too well-structured, high acid. But it could be.
Chassagne or Puligny? could be, but I think the oak is ~50% New, French.

2009 Un-filtered, Dehlinger Chardonnay - Russian River Valley. (759 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 11/30/2015 & rated 86 points: Deductive Tasting (Blind) (Rajiv's House, San Francisco): Coravin 11/30/15: Golden color; creamy, buttery, some vanilla, moderately aromatic, slight hazelnut nuttiness; palate is full bodied, significant oxidation, slight butter, burnt caramel, slight oil, medium to medium-plus acid; short finish. Decent california chardonnay but showing more than its expected age and somewhat short finish. No need to age longer. 86- (2275 views)
Tasted by dabovino on 8/19/2015 & rated 92 points: Really well balanced wine. The oak enhances rather than overwhelms the fruit. It is drinking very well and is a little more nuanced with age. A great value. (1452 views)
Tasted by DaninClearwater on 7/18/2015: still drinking very well (1106 views)
Tasted by Jack on 3/31/2015 & rated 92 points: In a great place. These have opened up and are drinking beautifully. Well done! (1211 views)
Tasted by mfigini on 1/4/2015: Good (1351 views)
Tasted by rosenst1 on 10/15/2014 & rated 92 points: Medium gold. Intense Chardonnay nose of crisp fruit, some pear, peach, vanilla, but not tropical or butterscotch. Rich mouthfeel, almost unctuous, but long and intense finish with very good acid backbone. Quite classic RRV Chard, not over the top in intensity a la Kistler or Aubert, but a very nice drink. This is still on the young side of its drinking window but last bottle so others will find out. (1212 views)
Tasted by Bellissimo on 10/12/2014: Served with a Moracan chickpea dinner and paired well. Lemon, saline, hint of papaya and honeydew with light oak component. Wished we had more. (1327 views)
Tasted by plitton on 8/4/2014 & rated 90 points: This has come together nicely. Some heavy wood persists but it's now tamer. Drink now. (1479 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 7/31/2014: Group chug for Sues birthday (1297 views)
Tasted by DaninClearwater on 5/12/2014 & rated 89 points: did not enjoy as much as previous bottles
may have been me (1274 views)
Tasted by marka on 4/27/2014 & rated 89 points: Had this with potato crusted cod, white Italian rice with herbs de provence and it was a good pairing. Lemon, a small amount of tropical fruit, subtle (to me) oak. Floral nose. (1284 views)
Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 1/12/2014 & rated 90 points: Awesome Dinner with Friends (Erasmus, SQN, Saxum, Pride, Dehlinger++) (Out and about): Lots of potential here, but needs more time for my tastes. Robust vanilla curd on the nose. Plenty of lemons and oak on the palate. It is the softest of the three wines, and I think the shortest lived, but still another couple of years to settle and become cohesive is warranted. Others really liked this as I think it is more "classic Cali Chard" at the moment. (2227 views)
Tasted by marka on 12/29/2013 & rated 89 points: Drank over several days. A really nice, daily chard. Nice balance. Good fruit, but not overbearingly so. (1205 views)
Tasted by Gymcoach11 on 12/15/2013 & rated 92 points: I've become a big fan of these guys and this is my first time tasting there unfiltered Chardonnay. It is estate bottled and has a beautiful golden color. On the nose it has hints of passion fruit, apple, and tropical fruit. On the palate, you get note of Apple, kiwi, and the finish is dry and smooth another great effort from these guys. (774 views)
Tasted by rosenst1 on 10/14/2013 & rated 91 points: Chilled, popped, and poured. LIght greenish gold. Well balanced nose of spicy tropical fruits and oak. Very nicely balanced on the palate, medium full, with a lash of oak on the finish. Would rate higher without the oak. (790 views)
Tasted by markjanes on 10/2/2013 & rated 88 points: tasted with 2011 enfield chardonnay... darker in color, crystal clear. on the nose more intense with the typical lemony RRV chardonnay smell... plenty of new oak spice, some malo smells in the background, some lees smells in the background. wine has ok balance (it is a really big wine), good length, great intensity, average complexity. completely different in style to the enfield but equally good i'd say quality wise. will improve over the next few years i suspect. (2024 views)
Tasted by marka on 8/18/2013 & rated 88 points: This was wound really tight and did not start to be pleasurable until about 2 hours in. It had to be a well made wine as Brian T liked it, but it sure took a long time to show. (1506 views)

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
