| Community Tasting Notes (average 87.7 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 6 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by ddisler on 12/7/2014 & rated 86 points: Very floral nose, primarily rose. Initially very vegetal on the palate with more of the floral flavors and some slight cherry coming through. Rather biting dryness and acidity on the finish. Typical for dolcetto, just a little aggressive for my taste. (954 views) | | Tasted by CamWheeler on 8/18/2012 & rated 89 points: Eurocentric Trade Tasting; 8/17/2012-8/18/2012: Roses and cherries on the nose. Palate is pleasant and easy to drink while having nice balance. Drink over the short term. (1962 views) | | Tasted by Julian B on 5/22/2012 & rated 89 points: Drinking very well in its youth. It had lovely notes of prune and cherry on the palette and while I noted a little bit of brett type character on the finish, this was eclipsed after the wine opened up. (1769 views) |

| Giuseppe Cortese Producer websiteDolcetto Varietal character (Appellation America)
Dolcetto, a northern Italian varietal from the Piedmont region, is a lighter bodied red. This wine is fruity and means 'little sweet one' in Italian. Some will opt to put a slight chill on it. Perfect with Mediterrean cuisine such as grilled meats and vegetables. Enjoy as a summertime delight. from (Woodward Canyon website)Trifolerais a single vineyard. Alba is a town and comune of Piedmont, Italy, in the province of Cuneo. It is considered the capital of the hilly area of Langhe, and is famous for the white truffle, peach and wine production. Piedmont is in the Northwestern region of Italy, bordering France and Switzerland. Piedmont is predominantly a plain where the water flows from the Swiss and French Alps to form the headwaters of the Po river. The major wine producing areas are in the southern portion of the region in the hills known as the "Langhe". Here the people speak a dialect that is 1/3 French and 2/3 Italian that portrays their historical roots. Their cuisine is one of the most creative and interesting in Italy. Nebbiolo is the King grape here, producing Barolo and Barbaresco. In addition, the Barbera and Dolcetto are the workhorse grapes that produce the largest quantity of wine. Piedmont is predominantly a red wine producing area. There are a few whites made in Piedmont, and the Moscato grape produces a large volume of sweet, semi-sweet and sparkling wines as well. |
