When we tasted this wine we really enjoyed it but after we realised it was a blend with MacLaren Vale we felt that perhaps MacLaren Vale was more for us. We bought quite a few of this wine and early on, we felt the wine was overdone and not nice at all. However now it is really excellent. It has a great nose, very smooth but clearly a big wine and perhaps not to everyone’s taste. It’s a shame that this was our last. Fine balanced tannins finishing of. Wine at peak but no hurry if cellared correctly. (362 views) | | Tasted by Locki on 6/20/2021 & rated 93 points: Aged beautifully. Big round smooth shiraz. Grass and cherries on the nose. Initial bitw quickly gives way to big, sweet almoat vanilla plum and cherry balanced by smooth oak. Long finish with enough citrus acid to balance itm (369 views) | | Tasted by Bsmith457 on 1/18/2018 & rated 92 points: Deep dark colour with a purple hue. Aroma of tobacco, dry cedar, straw and truffle. Sweet plum, strawberry and cherry. Tannin is light and fine but still provides medium plus body. Balanced acidity. Surprisingly fresh black and red fruit, sweet but not overly so. Silky tannin has created an enjoyable wine that looks like it hasn't aged at all. Obviously years ahead of it but I don't know if you can beat its current state. (894 views) | | Tasted by Bsmith457 on 6/17/2017 & rated 89 points: Black red colour when poured. Starts off quite harsh, Requires breathing time. Aroma of leather, earth and tar. Plum, mulberry, cloves, dried herbs. Slightly hot, medium plus body with medium finish. Tannin becomes quite fine over time. Smooth on the first night, slightly less on the second night. Very dry finish. The small amount of age (just under 7yrs) has made this wine present like a much more expensive wine. Very smooth and drinking at its peak.
Good value at under $25 if you are happy to be patient. (999 views) | | Tasted by Drinking Trees on 8/16/2012: On the nose: powdered charcoal and dark fruit. Rich, powerful palate, with blackberry and raspberry cordial. (1717 views) |
