Tasted by ILarsen on 10/19/2019 & rated 92 points: What an improvement - I should clearly had keep more bottles - this is my last one - not a very open nose - get some cherries - medium tannins and acidity - and clearly much more integrated than in the other wines I had - very godt balance - the wine is still very fruity - we get cherries and blackberries - you get mature herbs and some leather - the wine has clearly improved a lot since my last bottle in 2016 - and I still think the wine can do more. Happy to increase my rating to 92. (561 views)
Tasted by Derek Darth Taster on 5/5/2018 & rated 91 points: Saturday night library session at Domaine Derek.
2nd taste of this, 3 years on.
Has developed, though not necessarily better. Now has a dark herbal component. Not as enjoyable as when I last had it. (1177 views)
Tasted by Jeffyboy on 7/22/2016 & rated 88 points: dark, cloudy cherry colour with some brown reflexes. nose: maturing; macerated cherries, sweet (bit in supertuscan style); some tobbaco; robust. taste: again maturing, some fermented notes; macerated fruits - sweet and jammy; ripe tannins. After peak. (1421 views)
Tasted by ILarsen on 4/13/2016 & rated 90 points: Solid Chianti - the strength of the wine is the balance - and the low price - clearly good quality for money - the wine will stay good for a number of years more - today it is full body but still fruity. (1636 views)
Tasted by ILarsen on 2/25/2016 & rated 90 points: Se my last rating nothing to add (1721 views)
Tasted by ILarsen on 2/13/2016 & rated 90 points: Spicy on the nose - but a well balanced wine where acidity, tannins and fruit is well integrated. The palette is full body - we had it with a steak - which was perfect - the fruit is mature and you get a some mature herbs some cigar - and the wine is good value for money. (977 views)
Tasted by ILarsen on 2/13/2016 & rated 90 points: we had two bottles - se my last rating. (1359 views)
Tasted by Derek Darth Taster on 10/7/2015 & rated 93 points: Pop and poured. Drank over 2 hours over dinner with wife at La Barca.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of perfume, sour red cherries, dark red cherries, red plums, dusty earth, minerality. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), velvety medium+ tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sour red cherries, dark red cherries, red plums, blueberry, salty minerality, dusty earth, pepper spice. Integrated sweet wood spice. Long finish.
Very good quality Chianti Classico. Certainly amongst the best I've had before. Drinking well now, and will continue to develop over the next 3-4 years.
100% Sangiovese. (1522 views)
Tasted by Life At Your Leisure 🍷 on 12/29/2014 & rated 89 points: Dark garnet color turning crimson at the rim with a rich, earthy nose of black fruit, leather, tobacco, and dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied, brightly acidic, with a rich, mineral-filled texture. Flavors of black currant, dark cherry, anise, cigar box, nutmeg, vanilla and new cedar. Finishes long and spicy with hints of black peppercorn, Dijon mustard, tarragon, and cardamom. This is very good for the price - powerful but balanced. Drink now with 30 minutes decanting until 2022.  Tasted by ILarsen on 12/7/2014 & rated 90 points: nothing extra to add (901 views)
Tasted by ILarsen on 11/26/2014 & rated 90 points: still good se my last note (883 views)
Tasted by ILarsen on 11/22/2014 & rated 90 points: Good fruity - still with some tannins and acidity - a relative powerfull wine - where you get a lot of red fruit - still not mature - and the wine will clearly develop further - good long aftertaste - good value for money (887 views)
Tasted by Jeffyboy on 9/23/2014 & rated 90 points: bit dark but with lighter brick like reflexes. Slow legs. nose: robust, sweet; very ripe sweet black cherries with a dash of black pepper. taste: well built; ripe tannins but still fresh; sweet cherry wood; sweet-oaky finish. (819 views)
Tasted by asajoseph on 9/2/2014 & rated 91 points: Tasted at the cellar door.

A wonderful, open, inviting wine - a richness of fruit that you wouldn't aways expect from a Riserva, but this is definitely ready to drink now, with perhaps another 3-4 years ahead. (594 views)
Tasted by RussK on 4/2/2014 & rated 90 points: Russk. Drank with Phil at the winery. Pretty mature already. Maybe a bit too rustic. (714 views)
Tasted by quaglia on 2/20/2012 & rated 82 points: Anteprima Chianti Classico (45 TN inside!!) (Firenze - Stazione Leopolda): Nice at nose, similar to the 2008 base Chianti. Not much to remark at taste. Correct. [AiS: 80-84/2011] (2287 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
