Tasted by deatovino on 10/4/2015 & rated 87 points: This wine is past its prime, but my bottle still had some life left in it. Very mellow. It's definitely better with food. Overall not bad for its age and the price point. (2511 views)
Tasted by fluffy drinker on 6/8/2014: This wine is pretty much dead. Far beyond its peak. (2779 views)
Tasted by Wine O'Phobia on 1/25/2014 & rated 89 points: Wine was smooth, but you could tell it was past its prime. A bit of sediment prompted decanting. Overall, an enjoyable bottle. (2897 views)
Tasted by europat55 on 9/20/2013 & rated 88 points: Excellent nose, spicy. Very good palate. Nice QPR! (3305 views)
Tasted by trifecta on 6/8/2013: Cork saturated 70% with one streak within a 1/4" from top. Luckily the seal appears to have held. Dark fruit and aged spice on the nose. Very similar to other aged merlots that I have had. Quite enjoyable, especially for the price point it was found at. (3299 views)
Tasted by affordableCollector on 3/20/2013 & rated 90 points: dark amber, in color. dark fruit, cherry, green vegetables, spice, pepper, tobacco, oak, on the palate. medium acid, high tannins, on the finish. (1356 views)
Tasted by Blue Shorts on 3/11/2013 & rated 88 points: Great old-world merlot for the price. (1515 views)
Tasted by affordableCollector on 2/22/2013 & rated 91 points: orange, dark amber, in color. dark fruit, cherry, sauteed green peppers, pepper, tobacco, oak, on the nose. medium acid, medium to high tannins, on this rich finish. (1300 views)
Tasted by Charlie Pendejo on 10/31/2012 & rated 88 points: Fantastic for the price, and drinking very, very well right now! It's very close to mature Bdx - a fairly simple one with a short finish, but one which has aged perfectly. Mellow blend of black olive, cranberry, and black cherry. Score! (1350 views)
Tasted by slippytoad on 10/20/2012 & rated 80 points: Over the hill. Drinkable and interesting to try but rather flat (1203 views)
Tasted by fCOT on 10/18/2012 & rated 89 points: good mature 'bordeaux' like italian wine ! great QPR (1103 views)
Tasted by jcasey555 on 10/16/2012 & rated 90 points: Best wine at this price point! Very smooth, nice terroir, good finish. Herbacious nose. (1036 views)
Tasted by pepeelvis on 3/31/2011: spice box full bodied merlot. Drinking well (2304 views)
Tasted by NowickiJA on 10/31/2010 & rated 90 points: Quite the QPR on this one. Visually doesn't really show its 11 years, but some nice earth and olive aromas hit you on the nose. Soft tannins, nice acidity, and some still bright dark fruit lurks in the background. (2358 views)
Tasted by SkyCellar on 9/20/2010 & rated 91 points: I take it all back. I must have had a bad bottle the last time. This bottle was lovely. Nice tannins, lots of fruit. The finish is still with me an hour later. Very nice indeed. (2385 views)
Tasted by kenito799 on 5/2/2010 & rated 88 points: Impressive minerality and grippy tannins, cherry and dusty chocolate. Lovely Bordeaux-styled merlot. (2542 views)
Tasted by SkyCellar on 4/7/2010 & rated 84 points: Second thoughts. This wine is dead. Too old. Fruit is almost entirely gone. Drinkable, but not particularly enjoyable. (2543 views)
Tasted by vinosean on 3/20/2010: By all accounts this wine is past its prime, but I found it to be very enjoyable. Although most of the fruit is gone or subtle, the remaining "old wine" characteristics and overall balance provided a pleasant experience. (2661 views)
Tasted by biff_of_burl on 6/9/2008: A fine merlot, less deserving of the Rodney Dangerfield-like appreciation not afforded this varietal. I bought this particular bottle because of its surprisingly astute contstruction and finish. One of only two Merlot's in my somewhat hefty cellar - high praise indeed?! (2769 views)
Tasted by biff_of_burl on 1/23/2008 & rated 88 points: With Merlot being the Rodney Dangerfield of varietals, this stands out with structure, balance, and an excellent finish. (2906 views)
Tasted by herberto on 10/22/2007 & rated 89 points: Dark and dusty red but surprisingly youthful bright fruit. Unexpectedly nice. (2749 views)
Tasted by herberto on 12/15/2005 & rated 88 points: Earthy, Bordeaux-like merlot. Dark, gravelly fruit. (3368 views)
Tasted by umazz on 6/4/2004 & rated 85 points: very light tasting, but not entirely offensive. (2550 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.
