Tasted by evjoh on 5/19/2024: I was lucky enough to drink this side by side with a '13 Kirchspiel. The Abts is comparatively much leaner and more mineral, but neither let the cold vintage skew the signature Keller fruit salad aroma. I wish I had decanted this for 8 hours instead of 2, as it felt closed and tight even to the last sip.

These wines have become so expensive because they are truly unique in the landscape of dry German wines. Nobody else I've tried can create such a pure, complex, and explosive aroma of fruits galore backed by a wall of minerality other than Keller. (67 views)
Tasted by Lord of the Bottles on 4/28/2024 & rated 94 points: This had an uber concentrated palate of Granny Smith apple, pineapple, tangerine oil, lemon confit, and a loooong finish of liquid rocks kind of like sucking on some minerals. To me, a hypothetical cross between a Batard Montrachet with all the richness and your classic riesling which at 12+ years is developing secondary oiliness. Next stop G Max!!! 94/100 (441 views)
Tasted by Orange Tsian on 3/17/2024 & rated 93 points:

93+/100 (588 views)
Tasted by NoTrollingerPlease on 3/14/2024 & rated 94 points: Best bottle (Belsers Restaurant, Nürtingen): Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux
Double decanted approx. 4h before tasting. Clear, pale golden color. Very deep, salty, zesty, fruity nose with some hints of smoke.
This bottle was interestingly all about structure and minerality. Fruit was in the back. It was very salty, very deep and dense, very phenolic and with an almost oily, mouthcoating intensity. Long and lingering finish. With a bit more fruit, this would have been perfect, but that is a first world problem. Drink now or over the next 10 years. 94 (704 views)
Tasted by NoTrollingerPlease on 1/7/2024 & rated 94 points: Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Clear, medium golden color. Clean, medium+ intense, developing nose. Very mineral, lots of crushed stones, yellow stone fruit, some fresh pineapple. Deep and dense.
Dry, medium+ acidity, 13% abv. Needs time and air, developed great depth and tension and a lovely mineral touch on day two. Lots of extract, some zesty bitter notes. Great energy. Long, mineral and fruity finish. Slowly approaching its peak, but will stay on this level for years and has still potential. 94+ (1006 views)
Tasted by Tobias Strathmann on 11/19/2023 & rated 97 points: What a wine !!

Creamy but salty, acidity but honey

Drink now and don’t wait longer, this wine might be at its peak but it surely is a high peak (810 views)
Tasted by rnyrny79 on 11/10/2023 & rated 95 points: Fantastic and complex Riesling. Best I have ever had. 95-96p. Looking forward to when 2019 is ready!! (836 views)
Tasted by Pavan on 9/30/2023 & rated 95 points: Concentrated, long, loads of lime, then petroleum, coconut and a hint of butterscotch (856 views)
Tasted by oxwombat on 2/7/2023 & rated 94 points: Opened at Otto e Mezzo in HK. Slow-oxed and chilled in the bottle for 1 hour before serving.

This was the first wine of a great line-up. Consistent with the other bottles I've had, wonderful fruit on the nose balanced with electric acidity and minerality. Very long finish and just leaves you wanting more and more.

In a fantastic spot right now and would encourage enjoying these if you have them! (1725 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 1/18/2023 & rated 94 points: Very dependable, high tension, excellent. (1547 views)
Tasted by Mbad77 on 1/8/2023 & rated 95 points: My first Keller Abts and very much a joy.
Nose is quite floral and fruit filled with that lovely mineral stream Riesling element. Possibly peach and white / yellow flowers with some spice.
Initially palate was very good but not anything truly special. Dry but rich and open creamy approach.
Then it really kicks in though with frisson of electricity and zing rising up in the finish.
What a finish as well, pretty long

This is so good. (1302 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 12/4/2022 & rated 95 points: blind vs Brunnenhäuschen 2011
The winner was in this case the Keller wine. Fresher and more balanced. I guessed Kirchspiel 2013. No petrol and more on the fresh side. At least 5-7 years ahead. 95 (1848 views)
Tasted by oxwombat on 11/18/2022 & rated 94 points: Opened at Rex in Hong Kong. Slow-Oxed for a bit whilst chilling before pouring.

I picked up a case of these and have been slowly moving through them. They're at a beautiful point in their life at the moment, and don't hesitate to give these wines a bit of air - they will blossom and reward you for it!

KPK strikes again, and proves that the Abts Erde is probably the favourite of the GGs on offer (excluding the enigmatic G-Max). Trocken but definitely not too dry, with a wonderful electric zestiness and acidity coming through balanced with floral notes and white fuit. Absolutely wonderful wine and I'm happy to have shared it with some good friends. (1349 views)
Tasted by mhensel on 5/7/2022 & rated 91 points: Golden yellow, green shimmer --- Nose fruity, saline breeze, ripe yellow fruit, grapefruit, hint of ananas, some herbal aspects, some glue, some flint stone --- Palate smooth, like velvet, then strong acidity coming through accompanied by yellow fruit and citrus notes, some bark, some creaminess, nice green aspects --- Finishes very long in waves flashing back.  Tasted by finediningnyc on 4/22/2022 & rated 95 points: 2011’s from Keller are simply electric and Abtserde, my favorite bottling is absolutely stunning in this vintage. Abtserde has the power and exoticism of Hubacker and the intense minerality of Morstein. The full package. And each are showcased here seamlessly. After a short decant it bursts with intense juicy layers of stone fruits, wet stones and key lime. The palate is ripping with citrus inflicted acids, killer vibrancy, texture and stunning length. And still so young! Amazing future. (1582 views)

Spicy, close to his peak, yellow stone fruits in the background buts still a bit sweet in the finish. 94 (2438 views)
Tasted by joshabramson on 8/13/2021 & rated 96 points: Deep yellow, wonderful acidity and lots of complexity. Drank outside on a 90 degree day and it really cut through the heat! (2536 views)
Tasted by bill00 on 7/31/2021 & rated 92 points: Fuller and richer than I expected based on prior bottles several years ago. Still great but preferred it when it was more youthfully energetic. (2314 views)
Tasted by NoTrollingerPlease on 7/17/2021 & rated 94 points: 10 years after Riesling tasting - 2011 (Restaurant Waldhorn, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Sophienwald Universal
Bottle double decanted about 7h before the tasting. Bought at release, perfectly stored.
Clear, pale golden color. Now we are talking! Beautiful deep and complex nose. On the palate the usual energy and tension of recent AbtsE years, wrapped in warm, ripe fruit. Wonderful balance and elegance. Great extract and minerality. Long and lingering finish. This is not even close to its full peak and will drink nicely over the next decade. 94+ (2400 views)
Tasted by finediningnyc on 7/3/2021 & rated 95 points: Pulsating with energy and ripping acidity. But thanks to an elegant backbone it never gets too much, and its laser-like precision keeps everything in harmony, leading to a long mouthwatering finale. (1947 views)
Tasted by Frank Schneider on 6/3/2021 & rated 93 points: Oops ! 2 years ago I rated this gem 97 ! What happend here ? I dont know.
Rather big and with less structure ! Still a good wine but without the laserlike pricision i had last time. Not the first time i have to downgrade a german GG with 10 years of bottle age. For my palate the optimum pleasure window is 6 - 8 years after release. (1822 views)
Tasted by JHSP on 4/15/2021 & rated 97 points: Perfect GG Riesling - balanced, smooth, great minerality and good length (1665 views)
Tasted by mye on 3/12/2021: Tried with the 2019 vdf side by side. This was decanted for 6 hours before putting in 8oz bottles to share. Nose had rich tropical fruit, crushed stones, with some citrus notes. Palate had loads more slate and wet rocks, sweet apple notes, with a slight hint of petrol. (1987 views)
Tasted by Derek Darth Taster on 10/2/2020 & rated 95 points: Dinner at Red House. Aired in bottle 5 hours beforehand. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, yellow lemon colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, no petroleum this time, pronounced intensity, with aromas of honey, florals and nectar, various white and cream peaches, apricot, stony minerals, saline salt spray. Developing.
On the palate, dry, very high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium+ body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of concentrated white and cream peaches, apricot, honey nectar, stony slate minerals, salty saline wet stones. Very long finish.
Outstanding quality. A great GG.
From Absterde vineyard which is a sub-plot of the Brunnenhäuschen Grand Cru site in the village of Westhofen in Rheinhessen. (2406 views)
Tasted by daghaug on 8/29/2020: Noe marsipan på nese, ellers lite. I munnen moden sitrus, appelsin (uten sødmen). Rund og harmonisk munnfølelse, men uten ungdommens kraft. Fin syrestruktur og harmoni, likevel litt kjedelig. Lukka fase eller over the top? Ikke helt opp til forventningene i alle fall. (2118 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)
