| Community Tasting Notes (average 95 pts. and median of 95 pts. in 2 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by bjamesclark on 2/14/2018 & rated 95 points: Intoxicating aromas billow from the glass giving scents of white fig, quince paste, apple butter and poached pear that fold in notes of clove, nutmeg, toasted marshmallow, vanilla bean, caramelized sugar, toasty oak and hints of tobacco, lemon meringue and delicate white flowers.
The palate is alive and quite stunning; Structured with acidity, alcohol and density. Flavors show complex notes that mimic the nose with quince paste, fig, lemon meringue and apple butter that weave completely with the nuances of clove and nutmeg spice, toasted oak, caramelized marshmallow, vanilla, creme brûlée, sweet tobacco and white flowers. The finish lingers allowing all flavors to play out the spice and quince notes with lingering acidity.
A Classic! (744 views) | | Tasted by bjamesclark on 2/10/2014 & rated 95 points: Brilliant yellow/gold color with moderate+ concentration. Shows high viscosity with thick legs taking moments to form after the swirl and longer to fall. Aromas of white fig, pear, roasted marshmallow, clove and nutmeg with vanilla creme brûlée, oak, brioche, tobacco and lemon meringue are complex. On the palate this full chardonnay coats the palate with its creamy texture similar to and with flavors of creme brûlée. The acidity is moderate, and keeps the wine lifted on the mid palate. Flavors of baked apple pie, pears, toasted marshmallow, brioche, vanilla, toasted oak, white fig, butterscotch and hints of tobacco and lemon meringue with a underlying spice that gains in intensity through the long complex finish. A Remarkable Cali Chardonnay. Beautiful balance between fruit and oak. complex and intellectual. (1140 views) |
| Ramian Estate Producer web siteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Mt.
