Tasted by pbaek on 3/8/2023: Medium yellow color. This is mature now. Honeyed fruits, orange confit, nuts and a sound salinity. Smooth, round and soft and time to drink up. Wednesday@Steffen (606 views)
Tasted by dbkitc on 12/22/2022 & rated 92 points: This is just great and fully mature. Boy has it deepened since the last bottle. Yellow fruits and salted butter on the nose. Rich and broad on the palate yet with lovely lift. Serious and tactile. Drink up as it’s at the end of it’s maturity peak. (92) (744 views)
Tasted by mpdonnel on 12/19/2022 & rated 91 points: In a nice place. Still maintaining orchard fruit profile. Starting to gain some secondary elements and roundness but still maintaining a good structure and acidity. (578 views)
Tasted by dbkitc on 8/16/2022 & rated 92 points: Wonderful white burgundy that used to be a great value. Great yellow fruit, smoke, lemon and crushed rock. Serious and sunny. Mature, balanced. Maybe lacking nuance. Everything you could want from this bottling. (92) (743 views)
Tasted by dbkitc on 5/31/2021 & rated 92 points: This is just super, real-deal white burgundy that back in the day was great value. Straw turning to gold. The nose is pure, rich, honied and full of life. Zesty and deep - wow. The palate follows - balance, simplicity in its purity. Lingers. Super for a Maryland seafood medley. Soft shells and PYCM - a match made in heaven. (92) (1373 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 3/6/2020: The Verticals Tasting at 2020 La Paulée de New York (Eventi Hotel, New York): Magnum. Also very woody. Lower pitched fruit, less concentrated than the 2015. Just OK, nothing more. (2226 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/6/2020 & rated 90 points: La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting, 15/11/09 vertical from magnum. Big for the vintage with good density and balance, but just modest nuance. Drinking well now. My favorite of the vertical. (2889 views)
Tasted by krister on 5/31/2017 & rated 95 points: magnificent now, flinty nose, complex depth. great wine. (3050 views)
Tasted by pryby on 11/22/2016 flawed bottle: This may have been a flawed bottle. Cork was pushed in a bit under the wax, but not damp. Oxidative qualities - slightly doggy nose, ripe apple, nutty. Lacking in acid. (3200 views)
Tasted by rricher on 8/21/2016 & rated 93 points: Way better than the price would indicate. Clean, good depth, good style. Enjoyed by all. (3120 views)
Tasted by NostraBacchus on 7/22/2016 & rated 92 points: Medium greenish/lemon color. Super expressive nose of lemon, white blossoms, some nuts, butter, tons of minerality (crushed rocks, flintstone), some honey and some oaky notes that are well integrated. It's medium+ bodied and pretty dense, with medium+ acidity. Very good length. An excellent, mineral driven white Burgundy that is representing the house style beautifully. I would drink this over the next 3-4 years while is still fresh and vibrant. (92+) (3439 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 11/13/2015 & rated 88 points: Served too cold at teppanyaki. Good acidity. (3631 views)
Tasted by Goldstone on 8/29/2015 & rated 90 points: Silver-gold colour. Nose of fresh apricots and lemons with some sea breeze. The palate is what makes this wine - a wondeful elegant combination of refreshing acidity, minerality and 'cut'. A great food wine. Beautifully made and punches well above its weight. A great example of what St. Aubin can be in the hands of the right winemaker, although I somewhat prefer his Les Murgers in this vintage. (2785 views)
Tasted by BuzzzzOff on 7/17/2015 & rated 85 points: Transparent greenish yellow. Excellent aromas of citrus and oak. Very nice. Nice acidity and minerality. Perfectly balanced wine. Nice structure. Elegant, slightly fruity finish. A barely legal, albeit ready to sip now, young lady. Think the sassy high school gal everyone liked, but she never was quite the belle of the ball. Very reasonable price. (2117 views)
Tasted by alanr on 4/26/2015 & rated 87 points: Some decent flavor intensity here, though on the leaner side, crisp and taut, with hints of the raw edge I find on many 2011 whites, and a bit of tart citrus creeping in on the finish. Enjoyable, but struggles to impress. (2886 views)
Tasted by Mrbuzz on 2/9/2015 & rated 94 points: The Chateniere was my favorite of all the 2010 Saint Aubin's from PYCM….and so far in 11 too! This wine just ROCKS hard for the money……the energy is amazing, like a young Roulot…..creamier pitted fruits, richer than the likes of the other SA's….has that piercing lime acidity, crushed stones, salty minerality…..as well as lemon oil, exotic honey butter, fresh white flowers and lime blossom florals! Super balance with the young acid and ripe fruit….SO SO tasty! Blows away a LOT of Cru Puligny's imo. I'd give the nod to the 10 over the 11 just slightly because of a tad bit more richness and subtle complexities…but this 11 is a damn fine drink! (2905 views)
Tasted by decaturwinedude on 12/24/2014 & rated 90 points: Nose shows stony white fruit and green apple. Lower acid on the palate that I come to expect from PYCM, perhaps it's this St. Aubin 1er that I have no experience with. There's apple, and tropical flavors, and good depth. Obviously young, will save me others for a few years. (2387 views)
Tasted by bv1 on 3/31/2014 & rated 95 points: Lots of great flavors going on here peach, pineapple. Great mouth feel. What a great white. Haven't had too many Montrachets but this is a very big, wonderfully made wine worth seeking out if you can find it. Have to think it would rival some of the more expensive famous names. Absolutely delicious. (3252 views)
Tasted by Average Wine Guy (MH) on 10/29/2013 & rated 92 points: The 2011 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Saint-Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière is medium(-) gold in colour with a tinge of green. The nose boasts of different layers of aromas with fresh light cream, stone fruits on the top, alongside green apples and an underlying minerality, wet rocks aromas just underneath.

The wine is absolutely expressive on the palate with flavours of apricots, apples, broadening out initially and a good backbone of acidity that probably pulls everything back together for a superb finish. The firm (but not harsh or unpleasant) acidity keeps the wine very alive after a 2.5 hours decant but one can imagine the years that is ahead for it. An expressive minerality with good depth strings through the palate. Very pleasant texture, and rather food friendly. An impressive effort overall. And great value. Thumbs up. (3205 views)
Tasted by Vintomas on 8/21/2013 & rated 91 points: White Burgundy and red Bordeaux from Roberson Wine (Stockholm): Nose with smoky oak notes, yellow plums and yellow apples, spice, a tiny hint of dung heap notes, powerful nose. Powerful palate, yellow apple and citrus, powerful spice notes, mineral, high acidity. Long aftertaste with mineral, citrus and some grapefruit bitterness. Good balance, foody style. Young, but works fine now, 91 p.

The style is somewhat typical for 2011s, a vintage that is drinkable young. (3594 views)
Tasted by Billigan on 7/5/2013 & rated 88 points: Lemony and lightly floral, but it seemed a little out of sorts on the palate. Plenty of rich lemon fruit and minerality, but it seemed a tart and disjointed. Probably needs more time to come around, but I wasn't wowed by this first look. (2680 views)
Tasted by DCornutt on 7/1/2013: absolutely stunning. the balance is excellent. this is ready to go now to me. (2720 views)
Tasted by Vintomas on 4/27/2013 & rated 90 points: Oak notes, mineral, some spice, ripe yellow apple, good concentration, mineral again on the palate, high acidity. Young, 90(+) pts. (1922 views)
Tasted by alanr on 3/13/2013 & rated 87 points: 2013 La Paulee, New York; 3/12/2013-3/14/2013: Pleasant, forward, decent fruit, bit on the flabby side but some excellent flavor. (3168 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 3/9/2013: Focus on 2010 Burgundy- The 2013 La Paulee Grand Tasting (Metropolitan Pavilion, New York): Delicious, open and beautifully textured as only his St. Aubins seem to be. Drinkable although there is sound acidity. (3167 views)

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

Producer Website

After leaving his family domaine in 2005, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has established himself as one of the rising stars of Burgundy. Pierre-Yves has built a strong reputation for crafting exquisite white Burgundy that display energy and vitality. The white wines are whole bunch pressed, fermented with natural yeasts, aged on lees for up to 18 months in mostly in 350 litre barrels with no lees stirring and no filtration. More recently Pierre-Yves has sourced Pinot Noir from some exceptional vineyards further north in the Cote d'Or, and these are also exciting wines true to their appellation. The corks used come from one tiny supplier and are extra long and extra wide (55mm x 25mm) for the village, 1er cru and Grand cru wines and are untreated with no paraffin and the bottles are then sealed with soft wax to ensure no problems with premature oxidation. The resulting wines are built to age classically up to 10 years or more.

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
