| Community Tasting Notes (average 94.5 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 2 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Savislandgirl on 11/30/2018 & rated 94 points: The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry jam, plum and toast. It tastes like black currant (cassis), vanilla and black pepper. The body is medium. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity. It was so much better than the dinner that it stole the evening. Amazing wine. This wine is delicious now with great Syrah (2/3) fruit with the wonderful finish of a great Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignaon (1/3). Fruity, balanced pepper, good tannins. I plan to buy more and put it down for a couple of years. I think it will grow and improve for four or five years at least. (1161 views) |

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.Oregon Oregon Wine, Oregon Wineries (Oregon Wine Board)Columbia Valley Columbia Valley Winery Association |
