Tasted by thomaskeil on 5/25/2022 & rated 91 points: Found buried in cellar. Oh my, such a treat. Nose is multi-fruit driven, tinge of acid/mineral. Palate is unique with round, waxy fruit and refreshing acidity. The balance leans towards waxy fruit but the cut is there. (342 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 12/23/2015: Drank in Tasmania of all places. Too cold so nose not expressive at outset. Bit citrus and melon. Nose really reminds of white Rhone. Sweet nectar, surprising for a Chardonnay. Really peachy, different and enjoyable. Good length. (1303 views)
Tasted by joe d on 11/6/2015: This wine is blowing my mind. :-)

I am having trouble describing the flavors and aromas, but the intensity of each is compelling. It initially feels like a full-bodied mouthfilling chardonnay but then additional flavors of exotic herbs and maybe some waxiness layer over the top.

The acidic spine cutting through adds even more complexity and made it sing with my cauliflower/green olive/caper/anchovy pasta.

Wild, delicious stuff. (1499 views)
Tasted by hutch on 9/14/2014 & rated 90 points: CWS Wine Dinner (Sea Goose): Such a crazy wine. Wild aromatics with herbs and wax and all this stuff that I don't normally think of with wine so don't know how to describe. The palate is round and also wild. Really cool wine that is a delight to try. Whether you think it's worth $40+ is another thing, but definitely worth trying just for the uniqueness. (2008 views)
Tasted by kenito799 on 6/18/2014 & rated 91 points: One of the most unique and fascinating chardonnays I have had. Rich but also fresh and palate cleansing. The texture is creamy and waxy but the acidity is refreshing. This complemented artichokes with a lemon butter sauce on linguine, but I think you could drink this with practically anything. Smells like beeswax...the fruits that come to mind on the palate are passion fruit and pear. The finish is long with a hint of cedar and the tiniest bit of vanilla. Benefits from only a slight chill.  Tasted by CamWheeler on 2/17/2013 & rated 87 points: Rootstock (Sydney, Australia): Stonefruit and toast on the nose. Palate has decent length but some more depth or texture would be good. (2306 views)

Jura

A petite and relatively obscure wine region in eastern France, between Burgundy and the Swiss border. Its geographical isolation has helped it to remain a rare bastion of traditional winemaking techniques, and today it produces some of the most distinctive wines in the world. Reds from the Jura are often light-bodied, earthy, berried, and reminiscent of the village wines of Burgundy (though here they are made of local grapes like Poulsard and Trousseau). While Chardonnay features widely, the true specialty of the region is the Vin Jaune (“yellow wine”) made from the white Savagnin grape. Cloudy, difficult Vin Jaune is made only in the best vintages, and must be aged for at least six years before being released. As it ages under a layer of yeast, known locally as “voile,” the wine slowly oxidizes, leading to complex aromas and flavors that range from walnut skin to sultana to spices and truffles. Famously long lived it is always sold in dumpy 62 cl bottle - the wine lost in production having been taken by les anges.
