(662 views) | | Tasted by blabbott on 2/22/2018 & rated 86 points: Better with a spicy chili to disguise the flavor. (1229 views) | | Tasted by ex-sommelier on 7/2/2017: I like some of Seghesio's stuff so I thought this might be a good value from them, unfortunately it was plonk with hardly a trace of Cabernet typicity. I would be ashamed to put out this wine. Not flawed, just dreadful. (1707 views) | | Tasted by BobKat Cellars on 7/29/2016 & rated 88 points: Good with some English Cheddar (2277 views) | | Tasted by briquette on 2/14/2016 & rated 85 points: Get what you pay for usually and this fulfilled that premise. (2531 views) | | Tasted by rpenn77 on 9/16/2015 & rated 86 points: Pleasant but not serious quaff. Very approachable (2194 views) | | Tasted by smokeandmirrors on 1/12/2015 & rated 87 points: What I expected, nothing special but above average (2395 views) | | Tasted by Ecoenophile on 6/29/2014 & rated 87 points: Nothing special, no overt flaws, but very one dimensional. (2405 views) | | Tasted by rhanke on 1/4/2014 & rated 91 points: came in 5th in group blind tasting out of 8 California cabs all from 2010. Was my 3rd. I found it a bit oaky (2241 views) | | Tasted by affordableCollector on 1/4/2014 & rated 88 points: dark red, in color. blackberry, plum, cherry, earth, green vegetables, spice, oak, on the nose. light-medium acid, medium tannins, on the finish. (1553 views) | | Tasted by ghobby on 12/15/2013 & rated 89 points: Second night better than first, more balance (1835 views) | | Tasted by CJM on 8/18/2013 & rated 87 points: well balanced cabernet with very mild acid and good deep fruit flavors (1745 views) | | Tasted by Pdavis2556 on 5/12/2013 & rated 82 points: Horrible!!! (1838 views) | | Tasted by dpgreene on 4/21/2013 & rated 93 points: Deep red with full currant flavors and a long finish (1518 views) | | Tasted by Pufferfish22 on 4/6/2013: Zin-like nose - dark fruit and sugar with a light dustiness. Fruit forward with lots of dark fruit mid palate. The wine is still tight and will require some laying down but will probably age to be a balanced wine with a long finish. | Seghesio Family Vineyards Producer website Begun in 1895 by our grandfather, Edoardo Seghesio. Seghesio Family Vineyards is a collection of estate vineyards in Sonoma County hand-farmed by our family for four generations.Cabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyAlexander Valley Alexander Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia
