Tasted by nkirsch on 6/25/2022 & rated 90 points: Good cab, a little heavy and dry. Got better as it opened up. (781 views)
Tasted by nkirsch on 8/1/2021 & rated 92 points: Opened for an hour before drinking. really nice from the first sip. smooth, a bit of tannins but soft, good fruit (1209 views)
Tasted by Sbradperkins on 3/7/2021 & rated 90 points: Drinking beautifully after an hour decant. Still a little hotheaded on the nose with strong aromas blueberries. First taste is blueberry pie with toasted notes, followed by a slight tobacco flavor, before finishing sweet. There are also hints of smoked rosemary. Really beautiful and has the bones for a few more years. (1416 views)
Tasted by AlejandroAcostaPolo on 11/28/2020 & rated 96 points: Decanted for three hours. Beautiful wine, at it’s prime. Still a good amount of tannins, it could benefit with a couple of years more in the bottle. Open next bottle in 2023. (1486 views)
Tasted by markcic on 11/27/2019 & rated 92 points: Opened for an hour and a half and then poured through a vintorio. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berry, plums, tobacco, coffee and hints of dry spice that came out on the finish. I believe there will be improvement in it future. (1943 views)
Tasted by markcic on 6/16/2019 & rated 92 points: All of the red wines our group drank at dinner were opened at noon and tasted at 3 as I was sure at the end of the evening I would not be able to fairly rate anything. This was the only 2010 of the cabs as all the others were from the troublesome 2011. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, dark flowers, licorice, hints of tobacco and dried sage. The finish was lingering. (1668 views)
Tasted by Bathtub58 on 4/1/2019 & rated 88 points: Quick note: light nose, minimal complexity, short finish. (1245 views)
Tasted by markcic on 5/26/2018 & rated 92 points: Opened and slow ox'd for 5 hours and then drank over 4 hours at the club along with a 2010 Switchback Anniversary Blend, a 2007 B Cellars BTK and a 2007 Insignia. Dark fruit on the nose, the palate was dark berries, plums, some tobacco, some wood and dried thyme which came out on the finish. This was definitely a 92+ almost a 93 and I believe It will develop more ( I hope it does as I have 7 more bottles in the cellar) (1728 views)
Tasted by markcic on 5/16/2018 & rated 92 points: Opened for an hour and a half and then poured through a vintorio. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berry, plums, tobacco, coffee and hints of dry spice that came out on the finish. I believe there will be improvement in it future. (1508 views)
Tasted by markcic on 4/30/2017 & rated 92 points: Its been a year and a half since I last tried a bottle but I did not listen to my own advice. We PNP'd as we were in a restaurant. This wine needs a long decant. It takes hours to open but once it does, it brings forth flavors of dark berries, plums, red meat, fig and a touch of thyme on the finish is long and smooth. (2014 views)
Tasted by rsct2001 on 10/9/2016 & rated 93 points: Famous "Rutherford Dust" cabernet sauvignon. Perfectly smooth, luscious mouthfeel with well integrated tannins. Excellent! (2230 views)
Tasted by cirushing on 5/23/2016: Fruit forward. Still needed a few more years to settle down. (2311 views)
Tasted by AlejandroAcostaPolo on 4/18/2016 & rated 93 points: Great Wine, but is not ready to drink yet. Decanted for 3 hours. (2039 views)
Tasted by Markie_Sharkie on 12/6/2015 & rated 92 points: Drinking very well right now. Soft tannins and silky in mouth. Dark fruit on nose and palate. Did not decant. Needs about an hour at least to open, but doesn't take a really long time unlike some other Napa cabs. Held up pretty consistent in second day. (2156 views)
Tasted by markcic on 10/3/2015 & rated 92 points: Six Months since I tried a bottle, it is in the same place. We PNP'd through a soiree. Dark fruit on the nose, dark fruit, olives and cedar on the palate a hint of sage on the long finish. Next year, I will decant one through a vinturi and let it sit for a few hours to see how it develops. (1846 views)
Tasted by markcic on 4/10/2015 & rated 92 points: Opened at let sit for an hour while we sipped on some Ramey Chardonnay. It has matured nicely since I first tasted it at a wine dinner last year and has lots of good years ahead of it. Dark fruit on the nose, the palate was dark berries and olives, perhaps a touch a sage and hint of cedar. A nice long finish. (1916 views)
Tasted by walkerjfw on 2/18/2015 & rated 89 points: During PNV week, lunch at the vineyard with winemakers and vintners. Great day, really spectacular setting in Rutherford...

Paired with Short Ribs and veggies, this was a great cab to have in a mid day meal. Soft and silky mouthfeel, mild tannins. Palate of dark fruits, plums, earth tones, "rutherford dust".

Should add some complexity in time but drinking well now. (1822 views)
Tasted by partylikeakennedy on 2/8/2015 & rated 91 points: I keep getting olives on the nose from their Cabs. Green olives in this case. And slight green pepper. And leather. Very soft tannins on the palate with lots of plum and velvet and mineral! (1716 views)
Tasted by Corrie on 12/5/2014 & rated 91 points: Great flavor, medium depth, drinking well right now. (1683 views)
Tasted by Jgschmitt on 12/26/2013 & rated 92 points: Balanced and smooth at opening with a solid tannic finish. Heavy fruit with a subtle earth tone. (2510 views)
Tasted by Nutty08 on 4/27/2013 & rated 91 points: Bassins 28th Annual California Barrel Tasting (Mandarin Hotel, Washington, DC): A nice if typical Cali cab. Soft and upfront fruit, with a TRB-esque polished silkiness to the palate. Quite concentrated but plush and accessible. Not as much complexity as I would expect at this young stage. 90-93 (3264 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
