Tasted by davudvl on 6/25/2022 & rated 90 points: Nice. (340 views)
Tasted by maxmanx on 2/18/2021: Decanted for about an hour, but not sure it needed it. This was ready to go. Not as full-bodied as I expected. I think I'll drink my remaining 2 bottles soon- without a decant. (865 views)
Tasted by Wine Sparty on 10/1/2020 & rated 90 points: Opened with filet Mignon. Nice wine but nothing special. Still has that blackberry flavor going strong. A good acidity as well but it just doesn’t stand out that much. (884 views)
Tasted by Ex-Ray on 5/29/2020 & rated 90 points: Garnet and opaque, no brown edges. Reserved aromas, red and black fruits, not very distinctive, but pleasant. Soft, round, very drinkable fruit, medium body. Light tannin, medium aftertaste. Very enjoyable but not outstanding. Ready now, will last several more years.

Tasted by PSUSteve on 12/14/2019 & rated 92 points: 30-45 slow oz. This continues to chug along with similar attributes to last year’s tasting. (878 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 8/26/2018 & rated 92 points: Good on PnP but even better with 30-45 minutes in the glass. Full-bodied with fruit leaning red instead the traditional blueberry for this cuvée. (865 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 11/14/2017 & rated 92 points: PnP. This starts very slowly but in the mid palate it picks up quickly with a very smooth mouthful of blueberry. Finish has length and grip. My gut say it has a few years left but why wait. (874 views)
Tasted by Mtnmd1 on 8/13/2017 & rated 91 points: Drinking nicely. Medium full cab, balanced, darker fruits (958 views)
Tasted by MillerRoad on 6/28/2017: Delicious bottle of wine. (978 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 3/29/2017 & rated 90 points: PnP from a 375. Blueberry and dust on the nose. Dust and alcohol a little too apparent on the palate. (1033 views)
Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 7/11/2016 & rated 90 points: WineFest in Toronto (Mike Grammer); 7/10/2016-7/12/2016 (Mike Grammer's (parents home) in Toronto): Purple in color. The nose is nice with cassis and slight green bell pepper. Also a nice mineral note. On the palate, this has a lovely texture. Good balance. Not a monster but not wimpy either. Good cassis and cherry fruit. Nice finish. Seemed to be popular with the group. (2382 views)
Tasted by Neecies on 6/1/2016: Too ripe and modern, hard to like or appreciate among mostly old world wines at this event. (508 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 5/1/2016 & rated 92 points: Very smooth and nice to drink with or without food. Just as tasty on the second day. As other notes have said, there is tons of blueberry on the nose and palate, some toasted oak with a hint of vanilla, very fine grained tannins, medium length finish. (952 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 4/15/2016 & rated 90 points: From a 375. Cork stained heavily 75% of the way through. Still has a different mid-palate this time tannic and dusty. (770 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 12/31/2015 & rated 90 points: PnP from a 375. Lots of blueberry on the nose and palate. Mid palate was hot even with some time in the glass. This needs air even out of a 375. (870 views)
Tasted by wendyinwlv on 11/14/2015 & rated 86 points: Just ok for me. Took about 2 1/2 hours to open up. Will wait a few years to try the next one. (884 views)
Tasted by Bakerbd on 8/1/2015 & rated 91 points: Nice middleweight cab. Blueberry and boysenberry, bit of toasty oak, extremely fine tannin. Not a lot of structure - this is drinking well now; if I had more, I would drink it in the next few years. (876 views)
Tasted by Caligrrl on 4/25/2015: Wow! Light tannins, garrique, I love Sonoma cabs! (873 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 3/9/2015 & rated 92 points: Pop and pour with a little time in the glass. This continues to be dominated by blueberry on palate along with a deep lush mid palate. Finish is a bit short and abrupt. Air may help that.

Update - just had a sip after almost 3 hours in the glass and the air did improve the finish. (947 views)
Tasted by Annie1 on 2/12/2015 & rated 91 points: Unexpectedly luscious, smooth...enjoyed a lot. Very nice for price. (1187 views)
Tasted by mye on 1/18/2015: dark puruple. noticeable heat. Caramel, toasty oak, blackberry, dark cherries, bright fruit.. lacking the dusty/earthiness i like.. but quaffable.

Drinking on NFC championship sunday! (1016 views)
Tasted by 1997cobalt on 12/29/2014 & rated 91 points: Opened nicely in 30 min. Not overly complex but still a nice bottle. (792 views)
Tasted by wythes on 7/15/2014 & rated 91 points: Might be one of the better Sojourn cabs I've had. Drank over the course of 3 days and day 2 & 3 were better than day #1. Smooth and easy to drink. I didn't get the blueberry yogurt flavor that Home Ranch is known for, but enjoyed it all the same.

I have a few more bottles and they could probably use at least another year or two before opening up. (1262 views)
Tasted by AccaDacca on 7/13/2014 & rated 90 points: pleasant cab, nothing too dramatic (1089 views)
Tasted by wendyinwlv on 5/24/2014: wonderful! great nose, and taste seems to be drinking well right now. (1086 views)

2010 Sojourn Cabernet Sauvignon Home Ranch Vineyard

Home Ranch Vineyard, Sonoma Valley
This wine was made from Craig and Ellen's Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard adjacent to their home in Sonoma. The 2010 vintage was so cool during the summer months that Craig made an early decision to crop back the vines to one cluster per shoot. This proved to be the right decision, as it allowed the vines to focus their limited energy on ripening the remaining clusters. The grapes were picked in late October at optimal ripeness. The resulting Home Ranch Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is opulent, concentrated and expressive. This vineyard was planted by Craig in 2002 and is located at the southwestern edge of Sonoma Valley.

This is a showy style of Cabernet Sauvignon, with aromas of blueberry and cocoa popping out of the glass to greet your nose. It has a pleasant sweet entry with seductive silky tannins and flavors of blue fruit, licorice and chocolate. The finish keeps your lips smacking for another taste. This wine is also still a great value at $48!

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

Sonoma County

Mendocino County

Sonoma Valley

Sonoma County, California, is one of the most important winegrowing regions in the whole of the United States. Vines have been planted here since the 1850s and, apart from the inevitable hiatus brought about by Prohibition, the county's relationship with wine has been prolific and unbroken.

Viticulturally speaking, Sonoma County is divided into three distinct sections: Sonoma Valley, Northern Sonoma and Sonoma Coast. Each of these has its own AVA title and encompasses several sub-AVAs within its boundaries.
