Community Tasting Notes (average 92.3 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 8 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Collector1855 on 11/5/2022 & rated 94 points: During a 2012 Burgundy blind tasting dinner. Overall the vintage showed quite tannic still and with a wide dispersion between the top names and lesser known Domains. Definitely drink the 2013 and 2014 before the 2012 and stick to quality producers. TN: I recently had the stellar 2011 Le Montrachet from this producer and it blew us all away, so I had high expectations for this. They were not matched as I expected a wine that can easily play in the 95-97 register. As always with expectations they may trouble your enjoyment. This was solid, liked by everyone on the table, but it was quite light for a Batard. Aromas were good, with lemon curd, buttery elements and mineral. May be it will fill out with time? I shall see, as I have two more bottles left. 94-95 (1131 views)
Tasted by Jammy Wine on 9/29/2020 & rated 90 points: 2011 was the first vintage Louis Jadot used DIAM corks for all their whites. Evidently this bottle is still extremely primary and reductive. White orchard fruits with ample toasted wood spices. Glossy and full bodied with slightly high alcohol on the finish (close to 14%?). Typical Batard Montrachet oily texture and weight. Drink now – 2041. (90/100) (1787 views)
Tasted by peterchoy on 8/13/2020 & rated 94 points: Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of light lemon colour, with wide watery rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of citrus fruit of lemon, green fruit of pear, stone fruit of peach, kernel notes of almond, floral notes of acacia, autolytic notes of yeast, sweet spice of ginger, mineral notes of stony and saline, maturity notes of truffle. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium alcohol, medium body and medium (+) intensity flavours of citrus fruit of lemon, green fruit of pear, mineral notes of stony, oak notes of toast, dairy notes of cream, tropical fruit of melon, kernel notes of almond, mineral notes of stony. The wine has a long finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality Batard-Montrachet with an intense nose showing great complexity, with plenty of lemon and pear, followed by peach, almond and floral, with some fresh ginger as well as stony and saline aromas, gradually transitioning to yeast and truffle. The palate is elegant, with good finesse, well-balanced with good acidity and concentration, with a more apparent cream and melon flavors. The length is very long as well. It is ready to drink but can benefit from further ageing of another 4-6 years. (1230 views)
Tasted by Jammy Wine on 6/21/2020 & rated 90 points: Bottled in DIAM cork. This 2011 Louis Jadot Batard Montrachet offers impressive freshness and consistency thanks to DIAM. Supple nose of ripe tree fruits, smooth toasty wood, lemon curd, and fresh olives. Fragrant oak spices and oily texture. Full bodied with lovely nuances. Spicy finish. Drink now to 2040. (90/100) (1692 views)
Tasted by petitblanc on 7/13/2019 & rated 93 points: No detailed notes taken. Rich youthful color, touch of very classy oak on the nose. Warming but not totally obtrusive alcohol on the palate, excellent acidity, reasonable depth and complexity. Quite nice with food, just a touch New World-ish. To drink or hold. 13.5% abv (1358 views)
Tasted by King Julien on 5/14/2019 & rated 92 points: Popped and poured. Nose was nice but palate was a bit sleepy. No change over a couple hours. (1007 views)
Tasted by steinersing on 5/12/2017 & rated 93 points: rich, dense, not miles behind the Chevalier, early drinking. (1657 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 8/30/2015: Complex aromatics of candied pear, white peach, dried flowers and minerals. Rich, dense and sappy. Good fidelity. Excellent length. (1871 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
