| Community Tasting Notes (average 91.6 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 10 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by LW31 on 3/19/2022: Superb Montlouis. This is perfectly poised and elegant dry Chenin. Elegant fruit, chalky finish, quite long and vibrant. Starts quietly but grows in the glass. Great now. (505 views) | | Tasted by JohnMcIlwain on 5/15/2021: A bit circumspect on opening. Seemed a bit scattered on the finish, but gained in gras and precision after a bit of air. A truly lovely wine. Plenty left in the tank, but no shame to open now. (710 views) | | Tasted by depechemoroder on 4/12/2021 & rated 91 points: More or less on point with my previous note. The fainest hint of oxidation is emerging, but that waxy, marzipan, crystallised honey/apple palate is gorgeous. (630 views) | | Tasted by depechemoroder on 8/31/2020 & rated 91 points: Still lovely, but this bottle was starting to waver and just cross the peak. Still showed a very crystalline honey quality, with waxy lemons, bramley apple, marzipan, and a rather robust lanolin note. There is still great clarity to the mouthfeel, which is both deep and resonous, yet clean and crisp. Piercing acidity mellowed by the slightest rs. Everything in perfect balance (1247 views) | | Tasted by RajivAyyangar on 8/1/2018 & rated 91 points: '02 Musar at the Morris (The Morris, SF): A bit of age and hints of light oak. Like Ch. Breze. Very nice. High minus acid. Well integrated and slightly savory. Slight honey (botrytis?). (1548 views) | | Tasted by AV2012 on 7/18/2018 & rated 91 points: Seems too yound and closed in fact. Nose of orange and other juicy fruits. Develops some finer flowery notes as well. Nicely opens up with air. Beautiful. (1002 views) | | Tasted by depechemoroder on 6/30/2016 & rated 93 points: Edges on Montrachet territory at times, but the beautiful honeycomb and lanolin notes assure you this is Chenin. Vibrant and full of energy, there is a smoky gunflint undertone from the oak supporting very bright and well defined fruit (lemon and quince). Really racy acidity but such layered depth behind it. This compliments so many kinds of food remarkably well. Relatively youthful on the palate, this will only get better. Delicious. (1806 views) | | Tasted by cardsandwine on 2/25/2015: A wow wine. Enticing fruity and stony bouquet with a crisp and gloriously fresh palate. Finishes with elegance and length. (2020 views) |
