Tasted by VoiceofC on 9/7/2016 & rated 94 points: Someone thought the drinking window was 2015-2016. I have no idea why. This wine is drinking beautifully right now, but definitely has a few more years left. Drink or hold. (985 views)
Tasted by Buck naked on 2/27/2015 & rated 87 points: Two years since last bottle, little more of a nose, some fruit like blackberry. Still mild though. Tastes of dark fruit and vanilla. It has some long forming legs, but still has a fairly short finish. Overall. It still a nice wine, was just hoping for a little more development. (1165 views)
Tasted by Buck naked on 4/4/2014 & rated 88 points: Just keeps getting better. (1498 views)
Tasted by scotty_b on 9/23/2013 & rated 89 points: Initially I thought this bottle might be flawed because it gives off a strong wet cardboard/fishy odor upon PnP. Fortunately this blows off with about 30 minutes of air. Gives way to rich blackberry, bakers cocoa, interesting cantaloupe, and mild spice. Mild tannins. Shorter finish than what I expected.  Tasted by Buck naked on 3/30/2013 & rated 86 points: Not much of a nose on this, some berries and a slight chemical smell. Dark ruby color and medium legs. Very young tasting, considering its a new release. Some butteriness on first taste, but sharp on the finish with some berries a little vanilla in between. I think this will develop into a complex wine in a few more years. OK now, but much better later. (1578 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

Sonoma County

Mendocino County

Sonoma Valley

Sonoma County, California, is one of the most important winegrowing regions in the whole of the United States. Vines have been planted here since the 1850s and, apart from the inevitable hiatus brought about by Prohibition, the county's relationship with wine has been prolific and unbroken.

Viticulturally speaking, Sonoma County is divided into three distinct sections: Sonoma Valley, Northern Sonoma and Sonoma Coast. Each of these has its own AVA title and encompasses several sub-AVAs within its boundaries.
