Tasted by mdrelsing on 9/11/2020 & rated 90 points: Fruit was still there, nice balanced acidity.... (872 views)
Tasted by PIntag on 10/11/2018 & rated 88 points: 13.5% abv. A little acetone note on the Pnp, but this mostly blew off fairly quickly. The vintage showed prominently here, with lush, ripe fruit, almost liqueur-like. Very fleshy with lots of suspended particles with a succulent mouthfeel. Not a typical Chianti Classico for sure, too rich and not enough acidity - really quite new world, but with a little Italian flair to it. Enjoyed this with lasagna. In any case, this is not falling apart, for sure, but is in the very ripe spectrum. (1078 views)
Tasted by stockshooter on 3/15/2016 & rated 95 points: WOW !!! Absolutely stunning!

Full on nose of black and red berries, cherries .. full of fruit right out of the bottle! Smooth tannins but still able to pack a punch!

Absolutely the best Chianti I have ever tasted ... almost imitates a 2003 Tignanello with the fruit ... Unreal!

Seriously a 94-95+ out of 100 ... I have never rated a Chianti this high. Again stunning ... worth the wait .. last bottle unfortunately!

Paired with pasta, salad and garlic bread.

Final score 95! (1829 views)
Tasted by scottmlew on 3/4/2010 & rated 84 points: Dark inky garnet color with some sediment. Nose was flat with faint floral and berry notes. Paired with pizza with spicy pepperoni and sausage this wine held it 's own. The only drawback was the wine and the saltiness from the pizza caused the tannins on the finish to clash somewhat. On its own this Chianti was very fruit forward with some some watered down earthy notes. It did seem to lack depth and some of the spice and bite which I would normally associate with a Chianti, this may be due to it being towards the end of its drinking window. Some chewy tannins on the back sides of the tongue made for a nice medium-length finish. (3507 views)
Tasted by GrandeSerataFuori on 4/4/2009 & rated 88 points: Perfect drinking window. Still will last a few years though. Fine tannins and an earthy flavor. Smell reminded me of old grapes that had dried up on the vine, which i picked in Tuscany two years ago. Excellent food wine. (3614 views)
Tasted by jdbcolumbus on 11/12/2007 & rated 86 points: nice aromatic nose of cherry liquor with vanilla, some herb. Medium bodied, tart, not well integrated. astringent finish, good dry tannins. (3732 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 10/27/2007 & rated 90 points: Anita: rich t’s, dark berry; plum; salt, sweet leather; very high supportive a’s, very nice and mellow after 3 days! Too young--needed 3-4 more years! (2448 views)
Tasted by terroir on 12/28/2006 & rated 88 points: Nice fruity chanti Classico, not exciting but good , fruits of berry and a little sage with OK finish (3345 views)
Tasted by tuscanbob on 12/12/2006 & rated 85 points: Dark fruit, full tannins, hearty and well balanced. Good match with my ribeye. Nothing spectacular here but very good, very solid bottle of chianti classico. (2486 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 10/21/2006 & rated 89 points: Anita: w/sausage pasta, w/Val & Macons. Nice, light cherry and prune notes, rich, conc. but a bit closed, tannic. Give it 3 years. (942 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 9/22/2006 & rated 90 points: Chronicle: Pure ripe plum, hint sweaty, ripe cherry; lots of t’s, silky entry, med. bod; beaut. elegant, classic chianti w/character. Big year. (1139 views)
Tasted by VegasTony on 9/7/2006 & rated 84 points: This second bottle confirms my previous notes, but my first score now seems a bit generous. (2743 views)
Tasted by VegasTony on 8/15/2006 & rated 87 points: Quite dark in color, with purple and black dominating the red. On the nose, meaty spices and roasted vegetables take center stage, with cherries, dark berries, dust, and cleanser supporting. In the mouth, attractive sour cherries, heaps of dust, and herbs lead to a somewhat rough and astringent finish. Pleasant tannins, like fine sandpaper. Not really satisfying on its own, but significantly smoother when paired with pasta bolognese. I think this wine would improve with more time in the cellar. (2777 views)
Tasted by paulst on 6/14/2006 & rated 90 points: Merlot type blackberry fruit with a smooth finish. (2825 views)
Tasted by Wrighty on 2/16/2006 & rated 85 points: A little tough. Some tar and cherries - noticeable acidity. (3160 views)
Tasted by dougsmith on 12/15/2005 & rated 90 points: Deep ruby color. Although this is clearly a young wine, it is eminently drinkable right now: flavors of red and black fruits, with an edge of plum and a bit of red cherry, as well as hints of tar and herb. It's medium bodied with a nice balance of acidity and restrained tannin. (3026 views)

Producer Location - Tenuta Tignanello (Google Maps)
The Antinori family has produced wine since 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Winemakers Guild. Throughout its long history (across 26 generations) the family has always managed winemaking in person. Today, the company is managed by Marquis Piero Antinori. The company has dedicated great efforts to improving the quality of its wines, through careful planning of investments and research programs embracing all production aspects. The success of these programs has enabled the company to produce a superb range of quality wines from its various estates in Tuscany and Umbria. The Tignanello Estate is home to the famous Tignanello and Solaia vineyards. Located between the Greve and Pesa Valleys, in the heart of the Chianti Classic area, 30 kilometers south of Florence, Tignanello boasts 350 hectares of land with 147 hectares of vines. The vineyards are divided into small, individual areas over an area of 47 hectares at Tignanello, facing South-West, and the neighboring 10 hectares at Solaia, both with Cabernet and Sangiovese grapes that benefit from specific exposure and micro-climate.

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
