Tasted by Lemmy-W on 7/29/2017 & rated 92 points: gotta luv this! exactly what I want from an Aussie shiraz! (683 views)
Tasted by Lemmy-W on 5/7/2017 & rated 91 points: Tannins are really soft and slightly statting to fade away. will drink remaining bottles during next year or so. (726 views)
Tasted by Locki on 8/16/2015 & rated 93 points: A great example of a balanced big fruit driven Aussie shiraz. Great! A deep dense purple colour with big round mouth feel. Plum and a hint of mint on the nose. Big cherry with just enough smooth vanilla oak to balance it out. If there is any criticism it is the mid palate is a bit light and empty. Long-medium finish with a citrus edge. (1309 views)
Tasted by Lemmy-W on 6/22/2015 & rated 91 points: consistant with previous notes (1012 views)
Tasted by Lemmy-W on 5/3/2014 & rated 92 points: Dark purple colour. Plenty of cherry and blackberry on the nose. Mouth is full of licorice, chocolate and berries. Finishes really long. soft tannins already, but has a good structure for many more years to come. (1309 views)
Tasted by Lemmy-W on 5/9/2013 & rated 91 points: After trying 2008 that was extremely smooth, I had to buy few bottles of 2010 that should be equally good if not better year. All in all wine is great, but I will wait at least 1 year before opening next one. Hoping to find that smoothness in coming years. (1196 views)

First Drop

Producer website

Two young winemakers and business partners, Matt Gant (Young Winemaker of the Year 2004) and John Retsas started First Drop with the aim to make “kickarse” wines.

Young, enthusiastic and unafraid to experiment, is the hallmark of this vibrant new venture. Fist Drop is an innovative way to make wines, by not having vineyards or a winery of its own. Instead it sources grapes from a variety of grape producers and making their own wines at an established winery. The focus is firmly on “new” grape varietals like Barbera, Nebbiolo, Arneis and albarino.

Their style is to create a path between structured Old Wine styles and fruit-driven New World ones.
