Slightly smoky. New world style. Unbelievable complexity with some Pinot style characteristics. It can be drunk now. Or hold for a few more years.
I can't see that it will get much better.
We had chicken satay, lamb, beef, and other appetizers with this wine. Others had ranked Montelana and Silver Oak 2nd and 3rd surprising to us all.
Lowest rank was the Rivers Marie 2012 Cab.

It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir.
