Tasted by Nabby on 12/5/2020 & rated 95 points: Spectacular subdued tannins yet still spicy with big dark fruit on palette. (1296 views)
Tasted by EvanJB on 4/27/2018: End of life. Licorice nose. Little fruit left. Opened up over dinner. Still paired well with red meat (2401 views)
Tasted by Beancounter55 on 8/12/2016 & rated 90 points: delicious, still terrific after all these years tight upon opening, opened beautifully and Paso Roblas spice perfect with grilled London broil. (3895 views)
Tasted by Primordialsoup on 6/29/2016 & rated 94 points: Last bottle of 6. No bricking. Beautifully lush with warm fruit yet not heavy. Fully integrated- silky tannins. Delicious. Has lost some power from it's youth. It is probably time to drink over the next 3-5. (4020 views)
Tasted by dglass on 6/4/2016 & rated 92 points: Very smooth-good fruit and color. (4055 views)
Tasted by Vinoamoré on 2/27/2016 & rated 93 points: Deep color, clear edges, bright.
Nose was fruity with a slight eucalyptus
Body was solid and balanced. Showed signs of bottle age with slight cigar box notes.
Overall a very strong showing with nice fruit and balance. Think it could go a few more years, but drinking very well now. (3567 views)
Tasted by puppetclause on 8/30/2014 & rated 92 points: Still very much alive and kicking. Good concentration with a cherry medley, bing and black. briar fruits, Blueberry sauce and sweet tobacco. The big flaw was the alcohol, it ran hot from first sip to last. Chocolatey sweet cherry finish as usual from the reserve. Ill hold my other one fo 4-5 years just to see where it goes. (4131 views)
Tasted by snarfglk on 12/26/2013 & rated 91 points: Classic Bordeaux style; nose and palate. Quite good. A little hot day 2. (3183 views)
Tasted by Justinwine on 12/19/2013: Want to but don't love this wine. Plum flavors that I don't care for. (3059 views)
Tasted by Primordialsoup on 10/18/2013 & rated 94 points: Superb. All in stride now. Showing full fruit, mellowed warmth, seamless integration. In short, everything you would want from a modern-styled mature Cab blend, if you like the style. A real treat. Only one bottle left. (3275 views)
Tasted by snarfglk on 8/31/2013 & rated 91 points: Very good day 1, but got a tad hot and broke down some day 2. (3146 views)
Tasted by ddsolomon2000 on 3/3/2013 & rated 95 points: This wine is wonderful. It still has years left to live. Don't feel pressured to drink it this year. It's 10 years young. Soft, elegant and well balanced. (2725 views)
Tasted by snarfglk on 12/26/2012 & rated 92 points: A solid 90+ on day 1, but elevated to 92 on day 2. A great smooth wine with cedarbox, graphite and all of those Bordeaux qualities. (2480 views)
Tasted by Primordialsoup on 4/14/2012 & rated 94 points: All there. The best of 3 so far. Lush, fruit forward, and layered with depth. Really drinking well right now. Excellent. (3381 views)
Tasted by bbakove on 10/1/2011 & rated 90 points: Opened at 7:00 PM 9/29, half consumed, pumped and stored at 40 degrees f until 5:00 PM on 10/1. Wine is still tight with high acid. Color is a bit bruised, tending toward blood. By 5:45, finally, wine is opening up, even the color has moved toward garnet. Nose has a nice blend of red cherry, leather and some smokey wood (though that could be the leg of lamb on my smoker out back). Cherry continues on the palate along with pomegranate, jam fruits mocha and forest floor. Still a tad too sweet for my taste but the overall experience is quite good. (3660 views)
Tasted by EvanJB on 6/25/2011 & rated 93 points: It's still getting better with age. Bold, well balanced. Nice fruit. Tight initially after decanting in restaurant. Opened up nicely over course of dinner. (3798 views)
Tasted by ddsolomon2000 on 3/12/2011 & rated 95 points: wonderful wine. Drinking sblendedly. Give it 30 minutes to come to life. (3546 views)
Tasted by sbfireman on 2/20/2011 flawed bottle: So sad - just a poor showing on all accounts. Strong Sediment?? Wish I knew what happened. (3439 views)
Tasted by sbfireman on 1/31/2011 & rated 93 points: Damn good. Pull from the notes and you've got it. Quite good - hopeful a few more years will bring out the best. (3419 views)
Tasted by hfinkel on 12/22/2010 & rated 95 points: Everyone loved this. Great nose, long finish. (3482 views)
Tasted by sbfireman on 10/3/2010 & rated 94 points: Really made a difference to pour right from the bottle. First glass - tight and a bit disjointed. The remainder of the bottle decanted and wow, what a difference. Opened nicely to reveal subtle differences - oak, mocha, leather, earthy.... and a bit more. Very much recommend some air time. Strong effort. (3775 views)
Tasted by tp096255 on 9/10/2010 & rated 92 points: Garnet - deep ruby. Holding up much better than the regular Isosceles. Nose is a nice melange of raspberry jam, red cherry juice, cinnamon and vanilla. It's a ripe one, so you get a little heat at every stage. Mouth has great opulence and the tannins are nicely resolved. More raspberry, but now a little pomagranate juice. Definitely hitting more of the red fruit spectrum than last time I had it (I recall blueberries and blackberries showed up somewhere). Finish takes that fruit and packs it into a dark chocolate bar, thinking Lindt. Almost a little saline? Also some nice cherry tobacco and flecks of tar in the finish. I've always enjoyed this wine. This is our last bottle. Sigh... (3838 views)
Tasted by Primordialsoup on 8/31/2010 & rated 91 points: Well integrated chewy tannins. Mature and ready now. Drink away without remorse. (3801 views)
Tasted by EvanJB on 4/2/2010 & rated 92 points: Ready to drink. Nice fruit, but not overpowering, full bodied, balanced, with nice lingering finish, very smooth now. Great with a New york steak (4086 views)
Tasted by joefel on 3/31/2010 & rated 95 points: Loved it. (4103 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
