Tasted by 1964vintage on 10/2/2022 & rated 95 points: Improved further over my last bottle. Delicious and many years left in the drinking window (386 views)
Tasted by dontime on 2/18/2022: Past prime - given where I purchased no telling how it was stored for the first six years. Still drinkable and hard to complain given the $19 I paid. If scoring, 88-90. (440 views)
Tasted by wiscgrad on 1/12/2022 & rated 96 points: fantastic new world BDX blend. beautiful fruit and plush tannins, but not OTT. enough acid to balance. no rush (409 views)
Tasted by AVProsser on 11/4/2018 & rated 94 points: Near perfection. Sweet cherries and fruit. Soft tannens. Long finish. (1321 views)
Tasted by dontime on 3/9/2018: In a pretty good place, but was overshadowed by a 2006 Teachworth which was really singing. If scoring, 92-94. (1465 views)
Tasted by Vino Monkeys on 11/29/2017 & rated 93 points: Deep ruby. Medium intense developing aromas of blackberry, blueberry, stewed fruit, chocolate, and leather. Blackberry, black cherry, and cola on the palate with medium plus acid and high, fine tannins. Long finish. One of the best wines from Constant that I’ve had. (1291 views)
Tasted by wiscgrad on 3/3/2017 & rated 93 points: decanted 30 min then consumed over the next 2 hours. best glass was the last glass. I'd say min 2-3 hour decant or hold for next 3-5 years. wine is only getting better. tons of black and blue fruit. delicious mountain cab (1635 views)
Tasted by Charlie24 on 1/3/2016 & rated 92 points: Decanted for 2 hours. Good complex fruit forward wine with well integrated oak. Long smooth finish. (2285 views)
Tasted by dontime on 12/23/2015: PnP. Massive red fruits dominate the palate on this "how the hell" $19 purchase. No detailed notes, but I will be more attentive when opening another. Initial thoughts - 91-93+. (1721 views)
Tasted by Wink on 11/22/2015 & rated 92 points: Not much to add to my 1/5/15 note. I opened a bottle tonight to pair with pizza. This is a succulent, medium bodied mountain top blend with complexity and vivacilty. It has fairly abundant oak with has yet to fully integrate. Full disclosure: my wife LOVED this wine tonight. (1583 views)
Tasted by Wink on 1/5/2015 & rated 92 points: Tasted at the winery with Freddy Constant six months before he died. Bought a case. This is my first bottle. Slightly cloudy, dark garnet. Nose of smoke, blackberry, plum, and vanilla. Medium weight palate of sweet ripe fruit, including black cherry, blackberry, plum, cedar, and spice. Focused acidity. Sweet tannins. 40% Cab Sauv; 41% Cab Franc; 12% Merlot. Delightful, balanced, food-friendly wine. (1970 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
