Tasted by sma on 6/25/2022 & rated 94 points: Amazing red and black fruit nose upon pouring. Deep dense ruby in color. Complex fruit and earth flavors, vanilla, damp earth, cherry, plum, red and black raspberry, and spice. Long smooth finish. No unresolved tannins. Smooth clean and wonderfully enjoyable. (399 views)
Tasted by IanAltman on 10/22/2021 & rated 95 points: Decanted 1 he. Dark ruby color. Plenty of life still in it. Fruit forward with blackberry, black cherry, and notes of leather. Really showing beautifully. (581 views)
Tasted by rogerr on 8/20/2021 & rated 94 points: Beautifully integrated and showing very well. The cool climate of this vintage comes through and assists this blend with nuance and the trademark cherry notes from the unique vineyard from which the Zin is sourced. Top notch LC and demonstrates the ageability. Still has years left but not sure if it will improve from here. (644 views)
Tasted by DavilaDC on 1/5/2021 & rated 85 points: Bottle not corked but all acidity has faded away. Wine is absolutely flabby as a result. Waited to long on this one. (932 views)
Tasted by madmagnum on 5/13/2020 & rated 94 points: wow. very unexpected. excellent balance of fruit and acid/tannins. layers of red and dark fruits. savory notes, rich smooth on palate. peaking now. drink em if you got em! (1008 views)
Tasted by spidersva on 4/25/2019 & rated 91 points: Good. A little lighter in body than I was expecting. (1123 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 3/1/2019 & rated 92 points: A bold nose of dark fruits and spices, dark purple in color. A full bodied red blend, with black cherry, blueberry, smoky, with licorice and spices on long finish. Still needs a short decant, drink now. www.winelx.com (929 views)
Tasted by tcarter on 2/7/2017 & rated 92 points: Big dark red fruit bomb! Lush. (1897 views)
Tasted by tcarter on 12/7/2016 & rated 91 points: Really nice wine. Lots of red fruit and spicy qualities. Needs a good 30 minutes before it balances out, then it's very good. (1606 views)
Tasted by RobbieC on 7/10/2016: Short decant. Our last bottle of this was 2.5 years ago and it was really disjointed then with the Zin and the Syrah showing as two very different wines. Today, everything has come together and all the varietals are playing nice. Tastes like a nice dark zippy Zin. Enjoyed this now but got the feeling it could easily sit in the cellar for 4-5 more years. Scoring 92-93 now. (1628 views)
Tasted by cubswinws on 4/3/2016 & rated 92 points: Nice red fruit and spicy structure. Really nice depth especially for the vintage. (1557 views)
Tasted by rdf58 on 9/23/2015 & rated 92 points: Very rich, ripe, dark and dense. Good zinfandel fruit balanced by 43% syrah/mourvedre in the blend. Developed over-ripe plum notes after 24 hours. (1903 views)
Tasted by cookie7 on 8/25/2015 & rated 90 points: Pop and pour after a glass had been removed via Coravin a week earlier. Note after cork was popped. Somewhat muted nose, with hints of licorice and black fruits. On the palate - black pepper and spices building to a brambly finish of black cherries and raspberries. Slight heat on the finish. Probably best to drink this on the early side. (1383 views)
Tasted by MillerRoad on 3/27/2015: Needs a decant or some time. Was better the second night. (1601 views)
Tasted by pocchia on 1/23/2015 & rated 90 points: PnP at room temp (about 72 degrees). Dark, inky opaqueness with a touch of magenta at the edge. Depth on the nose gives a hint to the complexity that awaits. Juicy sweetness on the tip of the tongue, then immediately moving to a smoothness of dark fruit right before mid-palate, then it gets a bit harsher at the back. Guessing it could be that it's at room temp, so the heat is coming through. Looking forward to the changes as it opens up in the glass! Stems up! (1619 views)
Tasted by Nprzybylo on 10/24/2014 & rated 92 points: A great fall wine with mulled spices and deep concentration of colors and flavors. (1818 views)
Tasted by jeagle on 10/14/2014 & rated 88 points: PNP then consumed over 3 hours. Initial impression was cool climate zinfandel with noticeable oak. In time, the oak receded and the Rhone varietals tried to assert themselves but the wine remained high pitched with a cranberry / pomegranate tartness that simply did not appeal to me. (1682 views)
Tasted by twoamps on 6/9/2014 & rated 94 points: Anticipating one of my favorite wines from my favorite producer, and was not disappointed. Dark berry fruit up front with a nice structure. Even better after a day under vacu-vin. (1942 views)
 Tasted by jlaws7lh on 5/3/2014 & rated 93 points: Delicious after a 3 hour decant. (1802 views)
Tasted by VineGrowth on 4/28/2014 & rated 92 points: Bold, violet colored, tangy fruit forward wine from Paso. It smells like blackberry and meaty, it tastes like blackberry. The body is medium/full with medium acidity. Good balance and (1657 views)
Tasted by VineGrowth on 3/29/2014 & rated 92 points: The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry. It tastes like blackberry. The body is medium/full. The wine finishes medium. (1441 views)
Tasted by haldolugr on 3/22/2014 & rated 92 points: Couldn't resist for some reason, lively zin with meaty Syrah notes to drive the wine. But as big as this wine is, it's very approachable in its youth. (1390 views)
Tasted by RobbieC on 2/9/2014 & rated 89 points: I'm going to be the outlier on this one (only 89 pts.) A bit disjointed as the Syrah and the Zin aren't blending well now. The Zin hits first and offers smooth slightly tart fruit but then the Syrah comes screaming in with dark fruit and tannic grip. The two grapes are not playing well together now. Admittedly this is young and I was taking a chance to open so soon. I gave this a 2+ hour decant and then tasted over 3+ hours; always the same. It feels like a wine that ail improve / intigrate with time so I'm tagging my other bottle for 2016 or later. (1260 views)
Tasted by difran on 1/25/2014 & rated 92 points: Body of a zin, color of a Syrah, nose of Mourvèdre. Well rounded and delicious. (1111 views)
Tasted by haldolugr on 1/1/2014 & rated 90 points: Tart fruit with a nice acid balance. Plenty of aging potential. But drinks great now with a decant. (1207 views)

Linne Calodo

Producer website

... a family-owned and operated winery, focused on the production of unique and exceptional, hand-crafted wines. Our name, Linne Calodo, describes the distinctive limestone soils of the west side of Paso Robles where our vineyards are located. We are proud to be creating unfined and unfiltered wines balanced through the blending of Rhone and Zinfandel varietals.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
